Peal giggled as well as she watched her friends tell the shadow story. She was eager to see what would happen next. "Yeah, don't keep us waiting." she said with a smile.

Dein stepped out of the cave, and although he knew what the plan was, he wasn't sure he could pull off his part for it. Convincing other sharpteeth and fast biters to fight against Redclaw would be the easy part, but getting them not to advance and eat his allies would be the truly hard part. He sighed as he began to walk away in the direction he could smell other sharpteeth other than Redclaw.

Terri took her mates place by the opening to the cave so the children could feel safe. She smiled however as she could still hear them telling their shadow stories to each other.

Pterano sighed and smiled brightly.
"Okay...I promise I will prove to you all that I can be a good leader." he then spread his wings as he continued by saying, "And I promise to put my life before yours should anything go wrong!"

"i'm going with you!" Dil said, running up Dein's side. "In case you run into someone who tries to attack you," the big belly dragger explained.

"I know what you're probably thinking, and you're right." she went on "It's weird, we may be asking swimmers for help while at the same time, some swimmers I caught last night were the most delicous things I've had in a while," she added with a laugh.

Meanwhile, Ichy arrived back at the cave. "Redclaw's on his usual patrol, he won't be around these parts," he said to Terri.

Ruby's sister continued to watch wide-eyed, giggling every now and then.

Ruby's mother frowned. "I imagine most of the leaf-eaters aren't going to like the idea of that one bit... but I suppose it's the best we've got." She looked over at Ruby's father. "So, which one of us should go?"

Greg kept telling the story. "I'll let you pass if you help me find something to eat, the belly dragger said to the spiketail, I am hungry for some meat, but don't worry, I won't eat you."

Ruby's father thought over Ruby mother's question. "I do agree. Most if not all may be unwilling to agree, though perhaps some conditions may be able to be made, eventually. As for which one, I'm not sure, what are your thoughts on this?" He asked.

Ruby had to struggle to not giggle herself as the story went on, "Well, I couldn't let you eat anyone I know since they are friends that I know" the spiketail she was doing said with her narrating, so thus spoke a bit like Ruby herself.

"but I know a river where fish are always plentiful and there, would that be good enough?" the shadow spike-tail asked.

"and as you can guess" Ruby told the others, "the spiketail was very interested in knowing the answer that the bellydragger would tell him".

"Well duh" Misty said, but she giggled.

"Wow, this is serious" Cree said in half teasing at the last part of Pterano's sentence. "Uh, I sort of all but promised I'd watch out of him, with the cooperating thing and all, so...same goes for me too" Cree told the trio, indicating over to Pterano.

Toot also looked surprised at so many changes in behavior. He side glanced over to Ridge, "You ate the weird bitter yellow tree-star that's suppose to make things go all topsy turvey, didn't you?" he asked.

Ridge frowned, "Oh come on, you know that's a bunch of club-tail spit, there's no such thing as a weird yellow tree-star" he sighed.

Aqua glanced around, "It's awfully quiet, I wonder if Redclaw's gone yet and we could go out?".

"Probably just tricking us into thinking that" Ridge commented, "Wouldn't you say?" he turned to their new returning old leader, Pterano.

Greg contniued. "Sure, the fish will be good enough. But you have to help me catch it, the shadow belly dragger said to the shadow spiketail."

Myra and Rita were trying their best not to laugh out loud.

"the spiketail was shocked by this" Ruby continued the story, holding in a giggle as well, "he looked to his tail", Ruby was able to move the shadow spiketail's tail with some skill, "well...if it's just fish I suppose...yeah, I could just my tail to spike them, the spiketail told the bellydragger, come on, he began to lead the way to the river".

Ruby glanced around and found a leaf, "Hey Misty, hold up the leaf and we can have a river" she said. "Ok" Misty obliged and held up the leaf to wave like ripples of the water. She laughed, "This is fun!".

Greg liked Misty's involvement in the story. "The spiketail and belly dragger soon reached the river. "Ok, let's do this," the belly dragger said."

Ruby's little brother and Deon both giggled at what they found to be funny moments in the story. Blue-eyes found spots funny also but did his best to try to remain quiet so he could hear everything and would not disturb anyone or prevent them from hearing.

Dein nodded his head as he replied to Dil.
"Yeah, that is what I'm worried about, I was going to suggest they all eat before we get back to the cave, but that might not be possible! And I fear for Ruby and her family if we cant get them to agree to this."

Terri nodded and thanked Ichy for the report and set her head down on the ground to rest...it had been a long day after all, and she did want her rest.

Pterano gave a smile as he heard the question was directed at him.
"Well...perhaps it is a trick, but just to be sure I will personally fly outside to ensure your safety...please excuse me for a moment."
And before he could give Cree a chance to protest Pterano flapped his wings and flew outside the cave and high into the air, and was indeed releafed when he couldn't see Redclaw, Screech or Thud anywhere around.

"Just to be safe." he said to himself as he flew a little further out to make sure it wasn't a trap.

Dil and Dein soon came along a lone threehorn standing at a waterhole getting a drink, unaware of their presence. It clearly had no family or herd.

"What do you think? She we eat this?" Dil whispered to the big rex.

Chomper walked over to his mom and kissed her on the cheek. "Tired?" he smiled.

"So what did I miss?" Ichy asked in both languages, landing by the gathered others.

"Oh wow!" Ruby's sister said softly as the shadow of the leaf appeared. It was quite an interesting shadow.

"I'm not sure..." Ruby's mom started, "Though whichever one of us goes may want to check in and around the rest of these caves first, as I imagine there are probably others using them to hide from Redclaw. What do you think?"

Ruby's father nodded to Ichy. "That is a good idea. You can see things from higher then non flyers and can more quickly deliver a message if need be." Ruby's father said.

"W-Hey!" Cree called, but Pterano was gone way to quickly for him to protest. He sighed and glanced back to the small trio they had to guard and then the cave exit where Pterano had gone, trying to decide what to do.

If he left and then something did happen...well he'd be the one the blame would get thrust that then, but...Pterano was out there alone and...

"Oh blast this having to care thing!" Cree said.

Toot, mood slowly improving, chuckled, "It is a bother, thinking about others, isn't it" he said. Cree frowned deeply at what he could tell was a joke at his expense. Toot just chuckled again.

"Oh dear...I think he improved too much" Aqua said, going to the exit to peer out, "I really don't want to have to go back to the Great Valley and tell his sister that he did improve...and saved us by dying".

"Perish the thought!" Cree said, "Pterano's smarter than that...I think".

Cree sighed, "Here, stand back so incase something does jump out I'll be the first line of defense" he told Aqua as he next moved to the entrance to peer out and see if he could still see Ptearno.

"Woah, even the greefood stealer got less selfish" Ridge commented. "No" Cree sighed without turning, "I'm just not listening to Pterano yell and rant if something does happen and I wasn't the first line of defense to protect you guys".

Ruby giggled a bit as Greg's shadow swayed as he waved. "Yeah...you guys, be careful so something will not happen because you are not careful" she nonetheless took the time to tell them.

Turning back to the story she continued, "So the spiketail prepared his tail and slapped it in the water" Ruby made her spiketail do just that, "but when he raised it, no fish on this his first try".

"No fish?" Misty asked, "Oh...that doesn't sound good" she said as she switched hands to still hold the leaf in place.

"The belly dragger moved his tail around. I know there are some fish in this river, he said, we gotta keep trying." Greg said. Greg then whispered an idea he had for the story in to Ruby's ear. (The PM i just sent you Kit12.)

"We just need to decide which of us is to go." Ruby's father said, a hard decision he knew, and a very risky one also.

"I wonder what'll happen next." Deon said, riveted to the story.

Ruby's little brother continued to watch, always enjoying Ruby's shadow stories.

Greg went on. "Eventually the spiketail and belly dragger did find some fish. The belly dragger, always being willing to share, offered the spiketail some."
