The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

By experiment I mean you can tweak your character, for example you could have sara being an accomplished pianist, if you so desire. You could have Brooklyn like baseball, things like that..

Create new interests for them, like Velma might like Chinese food, or sushi. Oddyseus could like watching Tv.. etc etc..

She eats more moderately than them, they pig out, I often have Dixie wonder how they're not the size of a blimp... :)

Nick, I had Deimos ask Stripetail about learning magic. This is only a story point and I do not wish for my characters to become mages.

Could you have Stripetail give Deimos a justified refusal?

One possible reason is learning a spell takes time.  Like The Tourist  After a decade or 2 of study he's still pretty feeble at dragon magic, not even up to apprentice level yet.  Though he is not going to one of the academies on Korodos to study magic and his part time tutor is Sara who may not be really qualified from some folks viewpoints who are ancient.

Logically the spells the others can cast should be limited to only certain spells and also logically they should be inflexable.  If they can do a fireball they are always the same.  A full mage can do a custom one for the situation.   Or a light spell.  They can't custom it, it's either on or off.  They should't be able to reduce it like Sara can a light spell and reduce the area that is lit and switch the ongoing spell so it now focus forward like a flaashlight, change it's color, switch it to only infrared light if most have infrared vision or goggles, have it flash in certain colors as a signal, ect.  Like one can't do custom bullets to say delay to explode.  One that can move to the left as a foe dodges to the left, switch target if you decide to hit another target, ect.  Though the plus is a spell from an item does not tire the mage any, if spells do tire mages, and lets them focus on a spell needed for the moment.

Though that is up to the gm and how magic works, just my insight on how things work when I use to write fantasy.

Well, I had him consider buying armor-piercing rounds, and explained that you really have to be born with magical abilities, or failing that, be given magical items.

Even though it's not come out in conversation the reason that after a few centuries Sara isn't to good and the Tourist is pretty laughable as mages is they are not really studying spells but the physics, theory, cosmology and mathematics of magic.  (at least how I see it) so they'll take way way way longer to get to where a typical human mage is after a few decades but they'll be supremely flexible and be able to do a do a tailor spell for any situation, in theory.  One can go the faster route, in the universes I've made, and learn just spells, that is ok and be a skilled mage, but one won't have the deeper skill as if you took the route Sara and the Tourist are taking, but a human can't afford to do that.  Someone who doesn't age like Sara's type of dragon, and someone very long lived like the tourist (who drinks a certain elixir as mentioned in his background) can take the route.

Can the battle in the kitchen be heard anywhere in the hotel?

It's not that loud as most of characters are fighting with things like shovels, knives, sticks, spears and kitchen utensils.

However, Dr. Zanasiu's pistol might be able to be heard through the hotel, however faintly.

And where exactly is Mikoto?

I assume Briggins is in Room 300 after Deimos bought him there to try and convince him that Mikoto is real and not a figment of Deimos's imagination.

I see, so no one outside the kitchen would hear it, like those in the other room where my characters are?  ok.  I was just curious.  Thanks.

It would be heard in the dining room and Dr. Zanasiu uses a non suppressed pistol so the gunfire could be heard through the hotel, but it would probably be very faint.

But I'd imagine that the fight would still be audible in the nearby area (possibly in the lobby) but not on the other floors.
