Rime nodded. "We cannot discount the idea they will try to do so or attack from the air. Also, Deimos has more or less enacted a 'law' that everyone in the hotel must have some sort of weapon, preferably a gun."

well, there is a difference, when the kiss is casual, its just a kiss, but when its romantic its often just part of something more intimate. you say its nothing special because you just haven't experience it.
