The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I like Italian food the most. I don't really like German or Thai food. Japanese food is pretty good in my opinion.

I plan to travel around the world once I am done with school. :yes
Awesome :D!

As for food, I've gotten so used to healthy food that most junk foods taste gross to me.  Foods that contain a lot of fat give me heartburn, so I usually avoid these foods.  I like spicy food, though.  The spicier, the better :smile.  I'm the only one in my family that likes spicy food; everybody else likes more bland foods :x.  I use a lot of cayenne pepper, tabasco sauce, red pepper, garlic, black pepper, and an occasional handful of hot chilies (mainly habanero, jalapeno, or serrano) in my cooking, so if other family members will be eating what I cook, I have to remind myself to lay off on the spices :lol.

I like salt, but not too many spices. I try to avoid eating too much salt because I know it is bad for one's heart if one has too much of it. I've had lots of spices on Indian food, but I've never tried cayenne pepper. I like crushed red pepper on pizza, though. And basil. Makes me want to go eat pizza right now.   :lol

Lucky! :p

I've got a definite sweet tooth, and am fond of moderately spicy foods. As for bitter things, though, the aftertaste I get from grapefruit and cranberry sauce is about my limit. I really have a hard time enjoying any kind of food if it doesn't have a strong flavor, or isn't at least served with something very flavorful.

^ I have hardly any idea which food would be considered specifically German, nor do I think many others around here would :lol
What does everyone think is "German cuisine"?

I immediately think of Pumpernickel, Bratwurst and Sauerkraut. Though I have a nagging feeling that one or more of them aren't really German in origin... :p

Rest assured that I haven't eaten Sauerkrat very often in my life :p
There is a historic reason though for that clishe. In the German navy around 1900 Sauerkraut was the main provider of vitamin C to prevent scurvy while in the Royal Navy citrus fruits were the vitamin provider of choice. It may also be the basis for naming "Krauts". It is not a particularly frequent dish over here (I haven't eaten Sauerkraut in years I think.
Bratwurst is more common I think. Our junk food response to McDonalds and the like :lol
And as for Pumpernickel, Jason will be able to tell you stories about me trying to convert him from being such a whitebread when he was at my place. It wasn't even Pumpernickel that I was trying to feed to him but just another kind of black-bread. Really, especially in combination with white bread and cheese it is quite tasty and I admit it is something I am going to miss in the lands where most bread is homogeneously white and "grainless" :p

I am a big supporter of the Constellation space program that was essentially canceled by president Obama. I voted for him, and I believe that he has a good heart, but this was, in my opinion, a very bad move.

That's interesting Malte! I have yet myself to try German cuisine, though I kind of already eat it myself. It was the Germans that put cheese and apples together and they taste awesome together! :D

I don't think I'll ever get a permanent tattoo, mostly because my skin is very sensitive and I wonder what would happen to me if I got really old and what would be the affects of it. :p

Oy...I can think of stuff to say about bread, and stuff to say about chocolate......I’ll talk about bread first. :p

I prefer not to have a lot of whole seeds and grains in my bread, but at the same time I find plain white bread too bland. (I also hate bread that has that “preservativey” flavor to it. :x) I’m fond of rye bread and Italian bread, as well as certain breads that have something baked into it to add flavor (cheese, garlic, cinnamon raisins, etc.). A couple of weeks ago, I tried some “cinnamon chip bread” from a local bakery, and now I’m addicted to it. :smile

the US has almost never had surpluses. we spend more than we take in, unfortunately. its been that way for decades... Handling the deficit will require raising taxes and cutting spending.. something no politician is wiling to endorse..
