"If it is electrokinetic as well, shorting it out may incapacitate the experiment, giving us time to kill it or run away." Zachary said.
"How are we going to do that? Run up to it and jam a piece of metal into it?" Alfred asked.
"That may work but the electric current will flow through the piece of metal, through you and into the ground, killing you in the process."
Dr. Zanasiu thought a moment. "Remember when we shorted out Cale using saline? Even ordinary tap water contains enough solute to conduct a substantial current. Failing that, dissolve some sort of soluble salt in some water. Strong bases and acids will also work, in addition to causing tissue damage and being irritants, they are also strong electrolytes due to the free ions."
