Dr. Bailey nodded. "This area is relatively safe. I don't hear anything."

Alfred opened a drawer inside the lab he had raided. He retrieved a stack of papers containing nothing but 1s and 0s. "What the hell is this, binary?" He then turned to his allies. "Anyone read binary?"

Outside Pelvanida at the Carson City Camp, two of the veterans of the first Pelvanida attack were chatting.

"Anybody heard of Dr. Rudy Shelton? The control room guy from the first Pelvanida attacks?" the first soldier asked.

"No. Word's on the base is that he got deported to Austria for unspecified reasons." the other soldier replied.

General Moby, who happened to be passing by them, turned towards the two men. "Did you two mention a Dr. Rudy Shelton?"

"Yes sir." the first soldier responded.

"That name seems familiar." General Moby replied.

"With due respect sir, it should be. He's one of the scientists who helped thwart the previous terrorist attack on Pelvanida."

"Then that means he'll prove to be an invaluable asset. I got his contact information through 'unorthodox channels'. I'll contact him."

The two soldiers saluted General Moby as they walked off.

General Moby then retreated to his office where he radioed Dr. Zanasiu. "Doc, I've got great news. I've managed to arrange for an old friend of yours to assist, Doc Shelton. Moby out."

Dr. Zanasiu beamed as he received the news. "Good news. General Moby's arranged for Dr. Shelton to come and assist us. Bad news, it could take a while for him to arrive."

Zachary grinned. "Well, he's a master at the control room."

Dr. Bailey grinned as well. "Well, at least I get some assistance."

(OOC - I don't know what country Dr. Shelton was deported to so I'll just say Austria.)

Dr. Bailey booted up a computer and he had hacked into the system.

"What are you doing?" Zachary asked.

"Disabling the autoturrets in the control room area." Dr. Bailey responded, bringing up the main security control panel. He then entered another command and validated it with his password. The screen blinked "PASSWORD ACCEPTED" then "AUTOTURRET COMMAND OVERRIDE INITIATED".

Dr. Bailey then shut down the computer. "Done."

"That was fast." Dr. Zanasiu said.

"The autoturrets are designed with an override command that the control room administrator can use in case they malfunctioned and identified Pelvanida personnel as hostiles or something has taken control of the turrets. Activating it causes the turrets to cease functioning and they will not function nor obey the manual aiming system unless one heads to the machinery room and manually resets them using the Pelvanida keycard."

"Well, that's one roadblock out of our way." Werner said.

"Couldn't you have simply disabled all the autoturrets in the base?" Hans asked.

Dr. Bailey shook his head. "Doing that would arouse suspicion. While it is possible for a single segment of autoturrets to malfunction, the entire autoturret system of the base malfunctioning would immediately bring up red flags. And remember, we need to hurry; Dr. Branston could send his guards to manually reset the turrets at anytime."

Dr. Bailey helped Aisha into a chair.

"We are preparing to assault the control room." Dr. Zanasiu said.

"We will need two guards here." Dr. Bailey said.

"Hawkeye, we'll need you on the assaulting team." Zachary said.

"I'll stay here." Zachary said.

"As I will too." Dr. Bailey said.

"Sorry Doc Bailey, but we'll need you to help set up the control room." Dr. Zanasiu said.

He said, a small blush on the visible parts of his face...

"Excellent! Permission is granted." Dr. Zanasiu said.

Zachary looked at Aisha and Hawkeye. "If you two are coming, then there is no need for me to stay at this lab."

Dr. Zanasiu nodded. "Indeed, if everyone in this room is coming, it might be dangerous for you to stay. For all we know, those soldiers can be coming right around the corner."

Dr. Bailey looked at his watch. "I don't know how long the turret override will last."

Alfred had finished destroying the lab. "Well, should we get moving?" He tucked some papers in his pockets.

Dr. Branston cursed as the autoturrets failed to respond. He radioed the guards to reset the turrets.

"Hawkeye, Slash, Aisha and Dr. Landon, Zach, Hans Werner and I will be heading out first as recon." Dr. Zanasiu said.

Zachary picked up his rifle and followed Dr. Zanasiu out of the lab.

As they passed through the hallways the autoturrets failed to even notice them. Suddenly, Alfred appeared from one of the labs.

"Hey James, I stole some papers from a lab." Alfred said.

"Good. We'll look at them later. Care to help assault the control room?" Dr. Zanasiu said.

Alfred nodded and readied his shotgun. The group then continued down the hallway to the control room.

Kagetora and Agito dropped out of a vent near the group, landing next to them.
"Did you say something about an assault on the Control Room?"
Kagetora asked, checking his sub-machine gun.

Agito spun around.
"Oh, I do hope so. That sounds so very fun!"
He chuckled manically...

Dr. Zanasiu nodded. "We are assaulting the control room."

"Doesn't seem to be many guards around." Alfred said.

"Which means they could be resetting the turrets!" Dr. Bailey replied.

"He's right. These turrets can shrug off small arms fire and electric based attacks." Zachary said. "Agito, are your powers capable of damaging these armored turrets?"

"We shouldn't need to destroy them as we disabled them via an override command. If we hurry we can make it to the control room before the guards have manually reset them." Dr. Bailey said as they were running towards the control room.

Dr. Branston noticed the group heading towards him. He quickly summoned several squads of guards to guard the entrance and he closed the heavy security door leading to the control room. Some of the technicians also drew pistols from under the desks or from their labcoats.

"Sir, we have intercepted a transmission from Carson City camp. It seems they have managed to acquire an additional person." a Goat technician said.

Dr. Branston said nothing but proceeded to jam the frequency that he had intercepted.

The guards took cover behind some debris left over from the first attack and waited for the group to arrive.

They spotted Dr. Zanasiu and fired, striking nothing but the ground. Dr. Zanasiu quickly darted behind the wall.

"They're already here!" he shouted.

"I'll get Aisha!" Zachary shouted.

"Go do that!" Dr. Zanasiu then fired a single round, followed by Alfred who also fired a single round. Both the rounds struck the same guard and killed him.

Zachary then ran down the hallway back to the lab. "Aisha, Hawkeye, Dr. Landon, James has encountered several guards outside the control room. His force is outnumbered."

As soon as the base's squads entered the sub-levels, Feral looked behind at the rest of the team. Vic and Dr Joe slipped on their infrared glasses. The others could naturally in the dark so they won't need such equipment. He gave a nod to Aiko...

Aiko pressed a button on his pad. The outer doors connecting the sub-level to the rest of the base quickly sealed shut, then the main lights into the halls went out, leaving only the dimly-lit emergency lights on in different areas. And last but not least, every cell door on the level slid open...

The fennec fox experiment's heart pounded louder than before as the only thing keeping him from the rest of the world suddenly opened...

Ariol left the control room again in the opposite direction of where the infiltrators were coming. He was on his cell phone again with his employer. This time, his "posse" is being prepared to be sent over to deal with the growing situation...

The first Squad leader, a Grey Wolf cursed as the lights dimmed. "Infrared glasses on!" he barked over the radio. He didn't bother as he could naturally see in low light.

The squad members who could not see as clearly in low light as he could quickly donned their infrared glasses.

"Alpha leader, there appears to be some experiments loose." a squad member radioed.

"Do not antagonize the experiments. Shoot only if they threaten our lives." Alpha leader replied through his headset radio.

The other squad leader, a wiry Human, looked around and he spotted Feral's team. "The doors appear to be closed."

"Try and open them." Alpha leader radioed.

The other squad leader went over to the control pad only to find out that the doors did not respond to his commands.

"No go. The intruders must have hacked the computer. I'll have to blast them." With that said, he removed several shaped charge blocks from his pack and began sticking them to the door, forming the outline of a door in explosive charges.

"Beta leader, Alpha squad will cover while you prepare for demolitions." Alpha leader said. Alpha squad then took defensive positions behind crates and other assorted objects.

As soon as Beta leader finished wiring the door with explosives he heard a scream followed by an eerie howl and several gunshots. He turned around to see a dead Alpha squad member crushed under a crate and a dead cybernetic Falcon with several wires and pipes exposed from several shotgun blasts to the torso.

"They've seen us! Flash bangs, now!" Feral commanded.

Several canisters came towards their opponents and explode into thick clouds of smoke throughout the hallway. As soon as Aiko was unplugged from the pad, the team quickly moved to another hallway around the squads towards their primary destination, treading lightly to watch out for the torment experiments being caged down here.

After some brief pauses from within the cells, the many experiments soon began to emerge...

The squads were quickly stunned by the noise of the flashbangs but they quickly recovered from it. Luckily, the helmets had electrically controlled viewplates underneath the ballistic visor that automatically darkened to prevent excess light from reaching the troopers' eyes, saving them from being blinded.

"Oh, holy [censored]!" an alpha soldier shouted as several of the experiments began to emerge.

"Run!" Beta leader shouted. He then ran through the destroyed doors followed by his squad.

Alpha leader fired at the oncoming experiments. "Beta leader, take your squad and chase the infiltrators! Alpha squad will hold them off!"

Several alpha soldiers threw grenades and fired at the oncoming experiments. One soldier was torn in half by psionic blade while a cyber experiment received a high explosive rocket that blew a large hole in its metallic torso but it still kept coming.

Beta leader nodded and ran down the hallways, his squad following. "They must be heading towards the fusion reactor!"

"Sir, the experiments!" a beta soldier shouted.

"Ignore them. Our focus is those infiltrators." He was barely able to see Dr. Joe and he fired off a quick burst, striking nothing but a wall near her.

Vic pulled Dr Joe ahead of him as he and Feral now took the rear, both pausing often to spray gunfire against the unit members. Aiko had to gun down an insect-like experiment that charged him.

"The way they come at us that quickly," Vic stated as he started running, "they must have eye protection."

"Which means they'll probably have heat-vision as well," Feral followed. "Smoke canisters won't work. How far are we?!"

"150 feet and closing! Hallyway's going to narrow before we're there!" Aiko answered.

"We gotta take these bastards out now if we can get to the reactor! Vic, keep suppressing them with fire!" As Feral was still moving, he took his backpack off to dig into a set of parts...

His sensitive ears could easily pick up the sounds of screaming, and gunfire throughout the "outside world," paralyzing him even further with fear...
