Some of the soldiers fell to the hail of gunfire but the heavy armor saved most of them.

One Alpha soldier fired a rocket at a large cybernetic Ostrich with a heavy machine gun fused to his right arm. The machine gun clicked empty; fortunately, the scientists had the foresight not to load the weapon nor allow him access to ammunition.

The rocket crashed into the Ostrich's left arm, which bore a heavy machete-like blade, tearing it off. Two quick shotgun blasts by from Alpha leader decapitated the Ostrich.

Beta leader gunned down a Poodle experiment that seemingly appeared out of thin air with a burst of his SMG.

A Beta soldier loaded his rocket launcher with a new cartridge and fired in the direction of Feral's squad.

"Incoming!" Vic shouted.

Almost everyone in the team ducked for cover, except for Snow, whom instinctively turned and fired a concentrated ball of white fire at the rocket. Both projectiles exploded with extreme energy, and the former experiment was knocked back far from the shock wave...

A deafening roar of an explosion caused X-278 to shield himself from the burst of light emanating from outside the doorway...

"Keep shooting! We're almost there." Beta leader shouted. He switched magazines for his SMG and continued firing at the group.

A Beta soldier shot a Wolf surrounded by an eerie green glow. The Wolf deflected the bullets into the ceiling but he could not react fast enough to avoid a shotgun blast from another Beta soldier. The Wolf crumpled to the floor.

Alfred, Dr. Zanasiu and Zachary continued shooting at the guards. They had killed many of them but more were still coming.

"Anytime now, Aisha." Alfred muttered, crouching behind a crate to reload.

Dr. Bailey was ducked behind a crate, seemingly oblivious to the weapons fire.

Dr. Branston cursed as he saw the infiltrators near the fusion core. He sighed and activated the autoturrets in the fusion core area.

The turrets descended from armored hatches and took several seconds to switch to infrared targeting.

Neku saw Snow get thrown back, and he leapt into the air, catching her and turning to the soldiers.
"Hey! All you experiments! We're not going anywhere unless we team up to stop these guys! Whatd'ya say? How about we take these guys down?!"
He yelled, and almost all of the experiments let out a cheer, turning to face the soldiers coming at them. Neku himself leapt up, throwing his sword at one of the squad members as he launched an electric shot at another...

Hawkeye leaned out from cover, firing a shot at an oncoming soldier, stopping him dead.
"At this rate...we'll be overrun in approximately 6.3 minutes!"
He said worriedly, then turned back to Aisha.
"Is there anything I can do to assist?"
He asked.

Kagetora threw a small charge down the hall, incinerating a group of oncoming enemies, before opening fire with his machine gun again...

Cale threw another glass shard into the enemy ranks, lighting arcing around his hands.
"Damn! How many are there?"
He asked, irked...

Agito popped out of his hiding spot, slicing a soldier's head off, before ducking back into the ceiling...

"Keep firing!" Beta leader shouted. He gunned down a gold Lion experiment who tried to grab him.

A Beta soldier was killed by the electric bolt but another Beta soldier, diving behind a crate, barely dodged the thrown sword.

Two Beta soldiers fired rockets at the oncoming experiments, while Alpha leader threw a grenade in Neku's direction.

The autoturrets were able to take aim at the infiltrators and they opened fire.

A mechanical whirring sound was heard as the armored autoturrets lowered from the ceiling and began shooting.

"I thought you said that they'd be disabled!" Zachary shouted, popping out from cover to fire a short burst that killed a guard.

Alfred and Dr. Zanasiu stood up to shoot two different soldiers then duck back down before the turrets could shoot them.

Dr. Bailey was ducked behind the crate frantically working on the computer. "Come on... Ah yes! Let's rock and roll!"

Werner stood up to shoot a guard when the autoturrets suddenly turned around and began shooting at the guards, mowing down several of them in a hail of .50 caliber bullets. One of the soldiers managed to destroy a turret with a well aimed rocket. He loaded a new cartridge into the rocket launcher but before he could fire, Alfred shot him in the head.

Dr. Branston stared at the computer screen in horror. "What the!? That bastard! He must have hacked the control system" He tried to disable the turrets to no avail.

Just keep fitring!" aisha cried, dropping to her knee and opening fire. " We can't let then ovberrun us! don't stop! no matter what!"

Snow was slightly dazed when Neku caught her, but she fully came to as Dr Joe ran to her side.

"You alright?!" Dr Joe asked.

"I think I am..."

The ladies took cover as Vic continued to fire at the enemy soldiers, now more careful not to hit the experiments. But now a system of gun turrets made their trip much more problematic.

"Shut down those damned turrets!!" Feral shouted as he seemed to modify his gun...

"The closest panel is in the open!" Aiko answered back. "I need lots of cover!"

"Snow! Doc! Vic! Distract those guns as long as possible if you can't take them out!"

Dr Joe drew her sidearm as she fired at the closest gun turret, her position now drawing its fire. Snow ducked to another crate to get a better aim at the turret, and sent out a wave of fire at it...

"Keep shooting!" Zachary shouted, swapping out an empty magazine.

Alfred reloaded and kept firing. He noticed that the guards were gradually thinning out. "We're pushing them back!"

Dr. Zanasiu said nothing but continued shooting.

Werner and Hans also kept up a steady stream of fire.

"There appears to be a blast door at the end! We'll need someway to breach it!" Werner shouted over the gunfire.

"That's where I come in." Dr. Bailey said. "I can force the doors to open, but I'll do that only once we kill all the guards outside."

"Also there may be guards inside and we can't discount the fact that the technicians inside may be armed." Dr. Zanasiu said, reloading.

Alfred stood up and shot a guard twice in the chest. He then ducked back down to avoid a shotgun blast.

Snow's blast of fire melted the turret's bearings, disabling it.

A nearby turret took aim at Snow and began firing.

The turret that Dr. Joe shot was unaffected by the heavy pistol rounds but it immediately took aim at Dr. Joe and began firing.

Neku saw the grenade as it was thrown at him, and he used his kinesis to stop it, flinging it back into a group of Beta squad troops. Behind him, a shadowy bat experiment unleashed a sonic wave to disable an autoturret, the shockwave cleanly tearing it from the ceiling.
"Here! Neku, try this out for size!"
The bat chuckled, as the turret fell, and Neku caught it, firing it to disable the turret aimed at Dr. Joe. But as he did so, a pair of shots caught him off guard, one lancing through his chest and the second, a shotgun blast, tearing off his left arm...

(OOC - I'm confused who's injured. The Bat or Neku?)

The grenade killed most of Beta Squad but the remaining troopers still continued shooting.

A pale gold Iguana fired a bolt of molten metal at the last Alpha trooper, burning through his heavy armor and killing him.

Alpha leader swore and opened fire with his SMG, riddling the Iguana with bullets.

The Iguana turned around and converted all the spent shell casings near him into a large bolt of molten metal which he fired at Alpha leader. He then crumpled to the ground.

Alpha leader dove out of the way of the bolt of molten metal, only to dive right into the path of an autoturret's stream of deadly .50 caliber bullets. The bullets tore through his armor and killed him.

"Idiot." Beta leader muttered. He motioned for his last two men, both armed with rockets to fire at Feral and his squad.

As the rockets were fired both men placed their now useless launchers aside and readied SMGs.

"We're Dragonstorm's last bastion." Beta leader said. Even though that wasn't exactly true.

Neku staggered, but with a force of will managed to stay upright long enough to stop the missiles and weakly fling them towards the soldiers, barely making it halfway across the distance before passing out, blood coating his chest and dripping from the stump where his arm had been...

The soldiers quickly dove out of the way of the rockets, which exploded, showering the area with shrapnel but not really harming the soldiers thanks to the fact that the troopers had taken cover behind some crates.

One of the Beta troopers took aim at the Bat and let loose a short burst with his SMG.

Beta leader was struck by one of the discarded launchers, which a wiry Human had telekinetically shot at him. His armor protected him but the blow was powerful enough to stagger him and break several ribs. He got up but the launcher struck him in the head, knocking him down. By sheer willpower, he was able to remain conscious and shoot the Human several times, severely wounding him. Another telekinetically thrown piece of metal knocked him unconscious.

Vic sprang up to fire at the remaining soldiers as he ran to Neku. Aiko saw this and laid down cover fire for them as the human soldier dragged Neku behind another crate. Snow, whom has ducked just as the turret had fired on her, saw what happened to Neku and rushed to his side. Vic is getting set to work on Neku's injuries with his medical talents...

Feral had finished his work in time. His main gun was modified to fire larger rounds, some of which contained high explosive shells. Mainly meant for anti-armor, the commander felt it best for this situation. Getting into position, he aimed for the remaining soldiers and fired...

The burt at of explosive shells killed the last two Beta troopers, their heavy armor being no use against the direct impact of the explosive shells.

Dr. Zanasiu and Alfred's shotguns both clicked empty and Zachary and killed two of the soldiers with his last magazine.

"Kagetora, Agito, Slash, everyone, it's up to you." Alfred said, putting his empty shotgun on the ground.

"Once the last guards are dead, we'll reload and then we'll take the control room." Dr. Zanasiu said.

"Tangos down!" Feral shouted. "Are we clear!?"

"Negative!" was Aiko's response. "Two more of those turrets!"

"Neku's been hit hard!" Vic called in. "I'm trying to stabilize him now!"

"Keep on it!" Feral replied. "Aiko, make sure that this level remains cut off!" He re-aims at the remaining turrets and fires at the nearest one...

Dr Joe reloads her handgun as she stays covered behind her crate...

Snow was nearly in tears as she tries to reawaken Neku...

The turret's heavy armor was no match for the explosive tipped rounds and the turret exploded in a hail of shrapnel.
