"Rara Terra Smelting isn't a person." Dr. Kerzach said. "It's a metal refining corporation. True to their name they specialize in lanthanide refining. I'd assume that Dragonstorm gets their lanthanide or rare earth elements from them. And since lanthanides are mostly used in the electronics industry, I'd assume that they are a key component of raw materials for the cybernetics division."

"theres only so many times that flashing a military badge will work.. the next time we refuel, I'll charge it..it won't take very long" She said. While they had filled the tank, she had gotten some drinks and snacks.."Who wants some pretzel sticks..?"

"We're moving to sight 4 as we speak," Ariol replied. "Leave nothing behind..."

(OOC - Yeah, the Cayuse helo was shot down.)

Dr. Branston nodded and pressed the trigger.

Dr. Zenarchis did the same. "Bomb is now primed. In 30 minutes, all of Pelvanida will be a smoldering crater."

Dr. Branston radioed Ariol. "Excellent. Bomb is now activated."

Dr. Bailey and Dr. Bradley had barely made it out to the parking lot. The first hints of sunrise began to shine through the base's armored windows.

"We're not going to make it." Dr. Bradley said, panting.

Dr. Bailey looked out a window at the parking lot, seemingly miles away. "Well, I guess this it. We'll die with Dragonstorm. Zanasiu, Clyco, Stern, Landon, Tennes, Johnson... never forget." He then closed his eyes and waited for the explosion.

Dr. Bradley looked at a pistol left by the body of a Dragonstorm scientist. He picked up the pistol and held it to his temple. "Wait, what the hell am I doing?! I'll find and disarm that bomb even if it kills me!"

Dr. Bradley then headed back into the base, leaving Dr. Bailey to await the nuclear blast.

(OOC - The final act will probably be the misguided battle.)

Aisha looked forward as they approached the enterance to the base. they had covered the ground in less than 3 hours at 150 miles an hour " Nice driving Alfred, now lets go deactivate that bomb..' Aisha said.. getting out of the car..

Alfred, Dr. Greene and Nixon leapt from their vehicles and ran into the base.

"The others are driving much slower than us so, it'll take some time for them to get here." Dr. Greene said.

The other vehicles had refueled and paid for the fuel.

"Can't this thing go any faster?!" Dr. Zanasiu shouted.

"No. Humvees have a top speed of 60 miles per hour." Hans replied.

"Great, it'll take us like 4-6 hours to get to Pelvanida."

Yes..' aisha stopped as she saw DR Bailey. "Dr Bailey! Kerzach and Shelton have managed to extend the timer on the bomb! We have a few hours to search the base and deactivate it! Can you help us?"

"I can't walk, the power's out. There's nothing I can do." Dr. Bailey replied, sighing as he did so.

Alfred looked at Dr. Bailey. "Bailey, nothing is impossible. I was a mere construction worker before. Now, I have successfully driven my allies through a withering hail of fire and got them here alive. There is no such thing as impossible!"

Dr. Bailey clenched his fists. "Let's do this! First, wheel me into the control room."

Alfred and Dr. Greene did so.

When they entered the control room. Dr. Greene grabbed a set of portable radios and handed them to everyone.

"I'll keep in contact with you all through the radio. Try searching in areas like the waste storage rooms or the waste treatment rooms. Be extremely careful though, both types of rooms house toxic chemicals and biohazardous materials." Dr. Bailey said.

"I'll check the contractors' storeroom." Alfred said.

"We'll check the pipe rooms." Nixon and Dr. Greene said simultaneously.

"Aaand...gone!"

The Dragonstorm scientists gave a cheer as the convoy exited Las Vegas territory. Dragonstorm had escaped, to fight another day.

"Thrilled," yawned Shelton, putting his hands together exactly once as improvised applause erupted around the lab. "Well, sightseeing's over, and I haven't slept since my last flight, so if nobody minds I'm going to crawl into the corner and put off being knackered."

Dr. Kerzach yawned and applauded as he looked at his watch: 0430. "I'm going to sleep too. I literally haven't slept for nearly an entire day."

He went into the kitchen, put his head on the dining room table and fell asleep.

Dr. Branston looked at his watch. "Only 10 seconds until Pelvanida goes boom." He then sighed. "We made it after an intense building battle and a car chase worthy of Hollywood. There's no stopping us now." As he drifted off to sleep, he did not noticed the intercepted radio transmission: "This is Fort Tessect, we are acknowledging your request for a ground invasion of Pelvanida."

Dr. Zenarchis was sleeping in his chair.

Alfred nodded. "I would assume the enemy scientists evacuated. One would hope the allied ones did too. But nevertheless, keep your weapons handy."

Alfred then headed down the deserted hallways. The only light came from the tactical light on his shotgun.

Dr. Bailey shook his head. "Dragonstorm probably took their experiments. The allied scientists probably evacuated the experiments with them... either that or they killed them and possibly themselves, thinking that they would never be able to outrun the explosion."

Well, we need to search the premises for the bomb.. what is it made out iof/ " Aisha asked. Are there any heat signatures it might give off?"

Alfred shook his head. "They never said what it was, but it is probably a large nuclear bomb, either fusion or fission. There's no way you can give a 50 megaton blast with ordinary explosives."

He entered a guard shack to replenish his supply of shotshells. He then turned to a room labeled "Contractor Storeroom".

He gently pushed the door open with the muzzle of his shotgun. Inside the room were two dead Rhino construction workers. Both appear to have shot themselves.

Alfred ignored the bodies and began rummaging through all the supplies.

Dr lAndon bent down to lok at the rhinos, but it was a cursory examination. a blood trickling from a hole in their heads. " Yes they committed suicide..' he said gravely as Aisha begun searching though thier pockets gfor any useful items.. " all she out wit h were a pair of wallets, contained ids credit card and 187 in cash between them, and a pair of sWiss Army knives.

Possibly because they thought they had failed to stopp DRagonstorm" Dr Landon said. "These Rhinos have been dead for around 6 hours, they committed suicide while we were on that merry little chase through Vegas.. and I'd be surprised if they were the only such bodies we find.."

"They were construction workers. I don't see how they would know about Dragonstorm unless... yikes!" Alfred said, finally breaking through the door. He examined the room, there room was filled with nothing except sacks of cement. The body of a Raven scientist had been tossed in a corner along with a length of bloody rebar and a bloodstained lump of concrete.

"Aisha, Dr. Landon, help me move these sacks of cement." Alfred said. He picked up a 100 pound sack and tossed it aside like it weighed nothing.

Dr Landon grunted as he tossed the bag of cement aside, then helped Aisha throw another bag of cement. " Well this fellow was definitely mUrdered" Aisha said as they cleared another bag.. there was at least 30 bags of cement in the room..

Alfred tossed another bag of cement aside, then another. "I'm going to look at the scientist."

Alfred examined the Raven's body. The head was so badly battered that Alfred couldn't identify anything. He emptied out the pockets and went through all the contents. His eyes widened as he noticed the man had two ID cards: one labeled "Dr. Kevin Corvin" and another with the name "Dr. Robert Vaide". "This man's a Dragonstorm scientist! He's got 2 ID cards!"

Alfred then got back to work tossing the bags of cement aside. He noticed the outline of a door.

DR Landom examined the body ' Death was from blunt force trauma, either a blow to the head or from a fall from a considerable height.."
