So What are the names of your other siblings?" Marcus asked  Rhiga as they continued walking down narrow, winding, streets choked with debris and slum housing.. Minna and Ilsa kept walking, looking straight forward, and trying to not to notice the utter squalor that was around them..

"I have many siblings, but after Plythia, I think we can only get out three more... all girls. There's Uraca, Charisa ,and Lutgicia... we call her "Luty" for short." Rhiga replied. "We should be reaching Uraca first, given where we are right now."

Sasha tried to keep herself in good spirits which was not easy to do given her surroundings.. "How much further?" She asked in a half-whine..

"We'll be there soon." Rhiga assured the human girl.

All this walking must have been hard for Sasha. Her body was soft and almost naked. Dracon females were soft, but had thicker skin than human girls did... and Sasha was not in the best of physical shape, being a teenage girl whose training emphasized magic and agility over strength and durability.

Sasha's bare feet were sore from walking on the cobblestone streets. Unlike many Dracon cities, the streets here were more stone than sand. Normally this would be considered a plus, but to a race with no footwear, it could be a burden. To a human, it could be even worse.

After some time, the adventurers came to a drag gray building with square holes for windows, little light, and the buzzing sound of looms. "This is where Uraca works. She makes cloth for export..."

It was a sweatshop... very common in Dracon cities. The conditions were never good, but here...

"It will be their one 15 minute break in their ten-hour day." Rhiga told the others. "When Uraca hears that mother is gone, she will come with us I am sure."

minna and ilsa walked into the sweatshop, and looked around, there were around a hundred poor dracons sitting around, on cracked chairs or on the floor. many of the females had badly torn tops, which barely covered thier breasts, nearly all of them were dirty, and all of them had a look of Dracons who expected to die doing this. The looms were large, but old, ilsa could see cracks running through several of them.. they groups ranged from dracons in their teens to older dracons in their 40s and 50s. the place was hot, muggy, dark and absolutely filthy.. the floor was stained with what looked like blood.. and probably was..the smell, above all else was overpowering.. a smell of sweat and other bodily fluids..

Blood from cut fingers was indeed on the dirty stone floor... not much, just little bits here and there. The smell was overpowering. Few of these females had any chance to clean, and dirt could be seen on their unwashed hands and feet.

Uraca was found sitting on the floor, as were most of the workers here. Chairs were only given to the most productive. This young female had an expression of intense concentration on her face. Her dark reddish skin was covered in sweat, and her yellow belly was already wet as well. She had taken off her top before working, as it was tight on her and made working in an already hot room even more difficult.

She was sore, bored and exhausted, having little time to sleep and even less to enjoy herself. The claws on her hands were cracked and worn from all the work, and the claws on her feet were in a similar state, due to all the walking she had to do to get to work. Uraca lived with one of Vaeri's cousins, where she was expected to not only earn her keep, but to turn a profit. Since she was paid by the piece, Uraca had to work for an extra two or three hours in order to do this.

The material she worked with was linen, a cloth which fetched a high price at the marketplaces, and was a prime export. The flax for the cloth was grown along oases and rivers, then brought in by horse and camels when it could not be floated up the river on a boat or barge. Most of this cloth would eventually end up in a tailor's shop in another city or another land, and few, if any of the buyers would ever know that it took nightmarish labor just to spin the cloth...

Rhiga approached her half-sister. Uraca looked up, eyes wide. She knew that Rhiga was not supposed to be here. The young female's short tail perked up at the sight of a friendly face.

"Sister! What are you doing here?" Uraca asked.

"I've gone to take you away from here. Mother's passed on. I've come to take you out of Hekaga. I know it is not your break yet, but-"

With that, Uraca immediately got up and stopped her work.

"If that's so, I don't want to be here another minute. I quit. When they don't see me at work, they will fire me anyway. Let's go." Uraca told Rhiga, pulling on her top.

Surprised by her lack of concern about mother's passing, Rhiga realized that life in the sweatshop had made Uraca colder than she was before... this happened a lot. Rhiga also knew that it was common for them to loosen up again after they stop work and they are no longer abused. Uraca walked out of the sweatshop and as she did so, Rhiga could see whip marks in her half-sister's back...

The others looked at Uraca and shrugged.. there would be another to replace her, there always was.. "Good luck" One of the females  whispered to her"You at least have a chance now.. us.. we're going to die here.."
- Minna shuddered, she would be glad to get out of this terrible place.. her hearted ached for these females, but there was nothing she could do..

The party quickly gathered outside. Uraca was grateful for the fresh air, and to see the sun. She typically got to work before dawn, and often had to work until after dusk.

Rhiga walked over to Marcus, with Uraca following close behind. "Sister, this is Marcus. He and I and engaged." Uraca's eyes widened at the thought. "Wow... I just... congratulations!" She never would have believed it if she didn't see Marcus in front of her...

marcus smile at Uruca.. "We're going to take care of you and your other siblings.. We already retrieved Plythia.. and there are a few more we're trying to get...'
_
Ilsa frowned as she noticed the whip marks on Uruca's back. ' Did they beat you?' She asked. "I'm Lady Ilsa by the way.."

Uraca turned to Isla and greeted her, then explained her predicament. "They whipped me, slapped me, and once... they beat me. When I was late they once broke a toe of mine when the overseer stomped on my foot." She lifted her right foot to indicate that her left center toe hadn't quite healed properly. "I was left with a limp for week on end. I eventually managed to find a cleric who would heal it for free, but she was only testing her skills... and she wasn't very good at it. You look rich... what are you doing here in this dump?"

I'm a sorceress..I can fix your toe' Ilsa said calmly " As for why I am here.. I'm here to help your sister Rhiga get as many of her family out of here as possible. she is going to be living in Minbenthac, while that place has its problems too, it is a paradise compared to this place. You will be able to live with her and marcus..Lady minna here  ' she motioned to minna "will help you get settled..Would you like some new clothes? She asked, gazing at the ragged clothed Uruca now wore..

"I've never heard of a sorceress who could heal" Uraca told Isla. "You must know a lot of spells. And thank you for the offer of the clothes... something lighter would be appreciated."

Uraca sat down on some stairs; she was now sitting on the steps to a small temple. Lifting her foot and showing her toe, she said: "It doesn't hurt really bad unless someone touches it or I try to bend it too much."

"Grit your teeth then, this will likely hurt" Ilsa said, bending down and yanking the toe towards the normal position. "Restorum!' She intoned, and the toe readjusted into the normal position... the whole spell took only a few seconds.. 'really, you should not have had to limp for weeks on end..  if that cleric had been even close to decent at spellcasting, your toe would have been fixed awhile ago. now wiggle your toe around.. it may take time to get used to it moving around.. since its been crooked for some time now..' Ilsa said..

"Ahh!" Uraca exclaimed as the bone and muscle shifted and reset. It took a moment, but the pain subsided. While it was still sore, her toe was more flexible, and pain died down. "Oh... thank you! ow. heh."

Plythia was busy at the moment, trying to get a copper coin that was stuck between two cobblestone in the street, but when she heard her half-sister's exclamation, she moved over to investigate. "Uraca! They got you out!" Running over, she gave her a hug, nearly knocking the former sweatshop worker over.

"Easy sister! I just got away from my abusers, I don't need to be more hurt" she said with a laugh.   :lol

"Wow... this is all so wonderful, and happening so... fast..." Uraca thought to herself.

"The coin is in between these two cobblestones. It's not worth much to you... just a copper... and anything that is small and light. It's hot as hell in this city..." Uraca told the nobles. Blue or pink would be nice.
