Adykon passed the food to his child, who immediately ate the grapes. He was slower to eat the bread, but after Adykon tore up the bread into very smaller pieces, he was able to chew it down. Something told Adykon that this was quite possibly the best meal the toddler had ever eaten.

"Food good" Kos said, clearly still hungry, but not as much as he was a moment ago.

Both nobles smiled as they saw the youth devour his food.. " Heres some more bread.. and lets see if he likes some nuts.. broken up of course.." Ilsa said reaching in and pulling out a small bag of mixed nuts.. "Just crush them with you fist, then give some to him.. ' she added, giving the youngster a warm smile..

Kuja smiled, reaching into a small knapsack on his back.
"Poor little one. You haven't had a proper meal in days, have you? Here, eat these!"
He said, offering a few sweets as well as several bunches of grapes he had kept with him...

Kos rapidly ate all the food given to him, at least, until this third handful of nuts... after that, he was pretty much full, and his little stomach was clearly visible. After giving off a little burp, he asked for something else...

"You have water?"

To which Adykon gave the boy a drink from his canteen, which Kosjurec drank, but the water quickly poured down the sides of his mouth, too. After drinking and eating his fill, Kos sat down... not sure of what to do.

Meanwhile...

Vespion and the others marched out into the streets. It was getting dark. Jake should have been at the inn by now. Something was amiss...

Kuja smiled at him.
"Well, Adykon, I must say that he certainly is a sweet young thing. I'm glad we'll be able to get him away from this horrible place. 'Tis no place to raise a youngster like him."
He grinned, then smiled at Kos.
"I don't think I've said hello yet, have I? My name is Kuja. It's nice to meet you."
He said, in a gentle, sing-song voice...

Kos smiled at the mammal.

"Hi!" he said in his little voice, looking up with his big eyes at Kuja.

Adykon then looked at Kuja... he didn't quite recognize this Fauxen... but he had seen him somewhere before... but where?

Out in the streets, Eternion sniffed the air. Indeed, something was amiss... and to him it wasn't just an adventurers instinct.

Something didn't feel right about this night.

'The question is,' he said, turning to the others, 'where would a group of children go if they were unable to get to the inn?'

He paused as he turned a corner... the street was empty and near black. They certainly would be inside somewhere. Another inn? Chances were any typical keeper would turn away a bunch of kids... given the kind of riff-raff that turned up at that time.

Perhaps one of the temples. From what he had experienced, most temples would happily accept some children off the street... most of them.

'You mentioned one of them was capable of practicing magic?' He asked Vespion.

"Yes. Sasha has magical powers. I believe she is a sorceress, meaning her powers are inborn, not learned. I've seen her use some spells before; she's fairly powerful in a way, but she can only cast one or two spells before she gets too exhausted to continue." Vespion replied.

"Hmm... if she is out this long in these streets, there is a good chance she used a spell... which means she needs to find a place to rest... yes, there is a temple around this area which specializes in recharging magic quickly... but it is known for unusual practices..." Rhiga added.

"Such as?" the cleric queried.

"Blood sacrifices, energy channeling, demon worship..." the rogue elaborated...

"Oh. Right. That kind of unusual... we have to find those kids soon..." Vespion said with a sense of greater urgency.

'Soon is a bit of an understatement... I doubt they even know what they've gotten themselves into if they are where you think they are.'

He had once paid a visit to the temple in question. Just one visit, and it was enough for him. It wasn't the first time he'd seen a sacrifice, but it was certainly the last time he wanted to see one.

'A child is the perfect thing for...' he was hesitant to say it, 'experimentation.'

He picked up his pace. 'This way, stick together now,' he said to the others. If anything, going there would be a start. This was the bad side of town though... so they had to be extra careful.

"We ARE heading for that temple, right?" Rhiga asked. "We need to make sure that Jake and the other kids are NOT there... I'd hate to think of what could be happening to them if they are at that place..."

Rhiga was right to worry. Temples like this did all sorts of dangerous things, like expose their subjects to unstable magic, bind malignant spirits to foolish customers, or even summon a demon which would plants it's eggs in the flesh of the living...

She had already been through the experience under Asthia's tower... she knew the indignity of being a living battery. Picking up the pace, she moved on, regardless of the cold stone in the streets or of the darkness that surrounded her. The rest of the party followed.

Arianne remained with Adykon, Ilsa, Minna and Kos, while Eriol joined Vespion, Eternion, Rhiga and some of the Fauxen to look for the younger ones.

"I can understand you Adykon in how new this can be..." - Arianne said - "My first son Isaac is a younger than Kos, so you can guess I will use everything I can learn from other parents, and that includes you." - She paused for a second. - "I don't know if Eriol will manage to do it better than you, but I know him and I am getting to know you. You'll be a great father." - After that, she remained silent as she continued watching with attention as Kos was still eating his food with much joy.

Eriol walked alongside the group - "Eternion is correct, we stay together and we'll get the best chances to find the younger ones quickier." - Even though he looked serious, with no stress, his eyes were careful enough to look at all fronts and were the best suited to look things in the night too and his arms and hands were ready to unsheathe at the second notice.

Kos finished the food and the water. Looking around, he didn't know what to do next; he just smiled and looked up at Adykon, his little tail wagging from side to side...

Adykon was very glad to be taking him out of here... even a goat farm was better than this place...it was sad that so many children grew up on these streets...

Reaching out with a hand, the mercenary picked some grain off of Kos's horns and brushed a bit off of his mouth. Table manners would come later... getting enough to eat was a must for the meantime.

Jake thought over whether he should take the little "experiment" or if he should just say no....Jake thought over it and he made his decision. "i'll take it...." said Jake "only if you heal sasha".

"She doesn't need healing, boy, she needs rest, and in this case, a quick recharge... unless you want her to lie there for a whole day... In any case, make sure she lies on that stone slab over there, and you sit in this chair over here. Remove that stuff she has on, and let her lie on the rock. You keep your armor and other items on, and just have a seat." the cleric responded.

As soon as Sasha lay down on the slab, it began to glow red. Her expression changed from exhaustion to contentment, and all there could see her body visibly getting energized. Her skin took on a reddish tone, the lines of her face curved upwards, and her breathing became stronger. Whatever the slab was doing to Sasha, her body was enjoying it.

"Give her three hours and she will wake completely energized and refreshed... and better than she was before" the cleric said with a devious tone. "Now, have a seat, young man, and your part in this will begin."

"okay...." said Jake completely unsure of what the spell would do. "will it hurt?....." Jake walked over to a chair and he sat down on it. Jake was very caustious of the dracon...since Jake didn't know him of course...

"Just sit there." As the cleric spoke, black energies enveloped Jake, causing alarm but not panic among Rex and Selturma, although Jake was in no physical pain, something was changing in him...

"The spell is experimental, but should last for the next... 3-4 days, give or take a few hours." The priest said, looking satisfied with the way his spells was going.

Sasha sighed contentedly. She was still resting, but she was getting better fast. A new kind of energy was in her as well, and she was undergoing a change too. Her very skin was filling with energy as well, and making her hands and feet swell... same thing with her mammaries...

Jake noticed that he was beginning to feel different but....he felt normal like he was always this way. Something had happend to Jake and everyone would not like the outcome. Sasha was feeling so good from the recharge. Jake's eye twitched a little. not noticeable though. Jake stood up from the chair.

Jake sat there for a while, the effects of the magic sinking in. Meanwhile, Sasha continued to feel better and better, and a smile on her face turned to a grin. After three hours, her skin was so red it was as if she was sunburned all over her body, but she was in no pain.

Opening her eyes, she got up off the slab, her hands, feet and breasts swollen larger than they ever were. Suddenly, there was a great release of energy from her, and two great lightning bolts streamed out of her hands! Luckily, it was attracted by a giant mauve crystal in the back of the room, which had been set up for this purpose.

"Looks like we gave her too much charge. Well, she's back to normal now, and perfectly refreshed." the cleric told the party. It was true. Her skin and limbs were back to normal, and although her mammary size was closer to normal than it had been, it was still a bit larger than it was before she had rested on the slab... well... more than a bit larger...
