the energy and power that Dememorus gave off reached Minna Ilsa and Margas. Margas stooped over , his magical senses feeling the sheer evil in Dememorus. a brief fleeting image of the army appeared before him, then, as quickly it was gone. But it was enough to fill his soul with dread.. " He will attack soom, and with great force and power" He said to Adkyon, who was nearby. "He has beings at his command whose powers far outstrip any of us.. yet, he is not invincible.. how I have come to know this I truly do not know.." He said to him..

Violet touched her head slightly, as if she heard a voice in her head 'The dark one rises once more' and then, it was gone.  She glanced around wondering what it was, noticing that no one else had heard it, as if it were all in her head.

However, she thought it was best to keep something like that to herself instead of telling anyone as she now remained quiet, something that was not like her as she waited for the wedding to commence.

The festivities proceeded with a new urgency. Now there was no doubt that something was going to happen very soon. The three couples quickly made their way to the temple, having been told that things would have to start two hours ahead of schedule.

Mages throughout the city took precautionary measures against an attack. Doors were magically locked, wards were put up, various orders called their members together for common defense, Kluthu the court archmage advised the king of Minbenthac to take cover in a heavily-warded "safe room" underneath the castle, and valuable magical texts were locked down, or in some cases, burnt in order to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

The Great Temple of Minbenthac was a very odd place; it was preparing for a major attack at the same time it was getting ready to host a wedding. Armed guards stood next to musicians and cup bearers, as priests prepared spells to turn demons and heal the injured at the same time they rehearsed blessings for a newly-married couple.

Tallon's palace was also undergoing various steps of fortification; wards were strengthened, more guards were posted to the walls, and, in a gesture of charity, he opened up his gardens for use as a refugee camp, should any large number of houses be destroyed in the fighting. Meanwhile, the city's guards recalled all reserves and prepared fire-fighting crews armed with buckets and spells to extinguish flames. A call to allies was sent out, as was a call to all available soldiers in Minbenthac's armies. Alas, only the 5000 troops which were already recalled could reinforce the city's defenses in time. Still, the walls were quite formidable, and the archers, crossbows, ballistae, catapults, vats of burning oil, and other pieces of equipment which adorned the walls were no small matter to overcome.

A couple dozen dragons were allied to Minbenthac as well, although most of these were simply paid to assist in a war, should it come to that. Only one adult dragon was in the city at this hour, a copper dragon. He had come to witness the wedding, not to fight a war. He would have to do both. There was a second dragon in the city as well; he had been waiting there for a couple of days, on top of the palace. The wards had detected him, and he was chased from the top of it. A red dragon hatchling! Surely, he was no threat, but what was he doing here? The hatchling flew towards the Great Temple of Minbenthac, and literally ran into Adykon, who recognized the little one.

"Toby?! What are you doing here?!"

"Adykon! I came to warn you! There's a big, BIG army on the way here! Thousands, tens of... I don't know how many!"

"How did you get here from the valley?"

"I few through a portal they used! It's horrible! Not long after you left, they came and killed everyone! They took Gerasia, and even took that staff in Vaeri's grave!"

This was bad news. Not only did the enemy kill their old allies, they also had the means to-

"Portal? You mean, Dememoras can transport large armies over great distances in an instant?!"

"Yes. It took only a few minutes for them to get through the big, blue circle that he made. I heard his voice, but I didn't see him. It was like he could see us, but we couldn't see him."

This was getting worse and worse. What have they gotten into.

"Toby, what did they do to Gerasia?"

"They grabbed her after killing her parents. I don't know why they didn't kill her too."

She was still a vampiress. Not living in the truest sense. This was getting worse and worse. At least they couldn't teleport into Minbenthac; the wards extended over, under, in, and around the city, even though a skilled mage could come up with enough power to cut a hole in them to fit one or a couple of people, it would take an unimaginable amount of power to force an army through. Surely, Dememoras didn't have THAT kind of might. Or did he?

"Young Dragon, we are about to be hit, and hard. Your warning came a bit late, but I thank you for it. You've given us vital information. The enemy is likely to teleport just outside of the wards which surround the city. This means they will be about 5 kilometers away from the city walls when they first appear, probably."

20,000 troops would attack a city with a similar-sized force guarding it. 3 dragons, deadly magics, and a hidden agent already in the city would soon strike... no, not just in the city, it was worse than that. The party itself had been infiltrated. One of Adykon's companions was really in the service of Dememoras, and had been for months.

Violet grabbed her basket of flowers as she now just stood by and waited, although, she was feeling rather impatient as well, wanting the wedding to start already as she grabbed a flower and munched on it while she waited.

On the other hand, Ku'ux glanced around at the guards, he knew something was up, but yet, wasn't sure what it was either as he just eyed each and everyone of the guards "I just hope they can fight as well as standing there and looking tough"

Kuja pushed his way through the crowds, stopping next to Adykon and Toby.
"Wha-They took Lady Gerasia?  That...I must go rescue her!"
He said, flicking his hand and forming a dark portal as his magic orbs started hovering around him again...

Adykon, in an unusual act, grabbed the fauxen, and slammed him to the ground before he could open the portal fully.

"What in the world?! Are you in league with Dememoras?! That was no clean magic! That was dark magic! I've seen that sort of black energy before, in Asthia's tower!"

Toby flew at Kuja, angry, but did not attack. "I've seen you many times, Kuja. I never knew quite what to think of you. I've seen your spells, and I know you were close to Asthia and Gerasia. I don't think you would hurt her, but I don't know what's going on. I can tell you, though, that if you try to attack those guys, you are going to die. The forces that took Gerasia were beyond anything we've ever seen before. I don't know whose side you're on, but I don't want to see you end up like the tribe; killed and dismembered."

Kuja chuckled a little.
"Adykon...what you have to understand is...I've spent so long in the Darkness that my magic can never be what it once was...This is all the magic I have left, darkness is..."
He said remorsefully, looking up at the Dracon with sad eyes, then looked to Toby.
"Toby...my life has little meaning.  All I care about is seeing Lady Gerasia safe...If I die, so be it."

"You won't make her any safer by getting yourself killed. In fact, all you will accomplish by doing that is to put her in greater danger than before. Now come on. We've got to attend this marriage ceremony. You can join us if you like, or you can go off to certain doom. In any case, I don't want you to open a portal to them that they can follow you; if they get inside the city walls... I don't want to think about that. I'm trusting you not to open anything up that would let them in." Adykon told Kuja.

With that, he turned around and headed into the great temple. Toby stayed behind for a minute, looking at Kuja, but saying nothing.

Meanwhile, Rhiga and Marcus were the first to arrive. Dressed for the weddiing, they were holding hands, still waiting for the ceremony to begin. The other two couples hadn't arrived yet.

Violet saw the first couple to arrive and seemed to smile at them "Wow, you look so cute" she said with her mouth full as she had eaten a few of the flowers from the basket, more or less, having done whatever she could to pass away the time.

Ku'ux approached the temple and glanced at the wedding couple, yet, he didn't say a word to them, nor to Violet, he just remained quiet at the moment.

"Toby came in through a portal" Adykon quickly told her. "The details aren't important; getting this done quickly is." Everyone filed into the central hall of the temple, where it had been decided that Vespion would lead the service. Everyone was nervous, but happy it was finally happening. The decorations, food, music, and festivities had all been prepared. Over 200 armed guards protected the aisles, the doors, and a perimeter around the ceremony, plus many more were present in the temple. Everyone was on edge, but at least, the first and lesser of the their two worries would soon be over; that of planning a wedding for three couples.

There were very few flowers left in the basket by the time the wedding had started as she headed out into the isle, throwing a few flowers out, doing what she could to make these flowers last down the isle.

She then went and sat down in the front row, not wanting to really stand the whole time throughout the ceromony.

Ku'ux on the other hand, remained in the back, sitting down as he quietly watched the wedding unfold.

Outside, Eternion watched over the horizon, from the balcony of a tall building not far from the temple. He had no interest in the wedding, he decided. What he had thought of as he tried to sleep, and as the sky seemed to darken... was not of festivities, or celebration.

...He thought of war, and darkness. He couldn't bare to watch the wedding knowing of what was to come, and how it could affect them all.

He just took a deep breath, and continued to focus upon the distance... his axe resting in his hands. No one would notice that he wasn't there, anyway.

Marcus squeezed Rhiga's claw as they exchange vows. This was supposed to be a happy day, but marcus could not help but feel nervous. all the preparations for war could clearly be seen, as guards patroled outside the chapel. He wanted the ceremony to be over already, he paused, he was standing next to Margas who gave him a small smile. there was a clear difference in the status of the two males. Marcus ' best hope was to become a middle-class Dracon, Margas was going to be one of the most elite nobles in all the Dracon lands. Ilsa stood next to him, holding a small boquet(they had barred Violet from handing the bonquets, seeing as she had eaten most of flower petals).
" don't worry Marcus' Ilsa whispered " Once this is over you can take Rhiga home.."

(OOC: Sorry if this seems to contradict you, Nick, but the one who is ministering the wedding was NOT in place as of the last post!)

The official vows had not yet been taken, even if private ones were. Vespion was now ready at the head of the aisle, holy book in hand. Everything was ready. Marcus and Rhiga proceeded down the aisle first, with the other two couples behind them, still waiting at the other side of the room. Besides the ones about to marry and the priest, Adykon was there, as was Rex, Selturma, the fauxen, the Gaeans, and the rest of the party save for Eternion, who was nowhere to be found, and Sasha, who took off to go find the older Dracon. Toby was present as well, with some of the guests thinking this was the copper dragon who was to show up, although the more educated guests knew the difference between an adult copper dragon, and a very young red dragon; Toby was the latter. The copper dragon had arrived in the city, but he was not found at the wedding either.

Violet sat there quietly as she watched the wedding proceed ahead, looking at her paws as one seemed to change colour right in front of her eyes, to which her eyes widened a bit more.  She glanced back at the couples before looking at her paws again as the other then changed colour.

As much as she wanted to stay, she decided to quietly make her way outside to find out what was really going on with her, examining her fur some more "It doesn't make sense, werewolves aren't suppose to change fur colour like this...." she muttered as she glanced around, only hearing another voice in her head 'Don't fight it, give into the darkness', which in turn, only caused Violet to clutch her head again as if she were in pain.

"Wedding are always so exciting and so full of emotion" - Arianne said happily as she and her husband were being witness of this magnificent event, and as she was retouching some details in the dress she got from the castle, made of silk with adornments and jewels, she almost looked like a princess.

"The only wedding I have felt 'emotion' was in our wedding." - Eriol replied. - "This event is great, but the emotion is more felt in those couples in the altar." - Eriol was very elegantly dresses as well, something very unusual for him as the clothing with most decoration he often wears were the uniform when he was a Lead Guard in Arianne's parents palace before he got married with Arianne some years ago.

Arianne sighed. - "Well... we should just keep on looking at the weddings." - her face could not hide the smile of watching such a ceremony. Gaeans do have weddings and some are as much prepared as this one, but still, to be here now is such a great feeling for her and Eriol understands how she feels.

Vespion opened his holy book and began to read from the texts. Dracon marriage ceremonies were largely adapted from human traditions, as dragons mostly lacked formal conceptions of marriage, preferring to mate up unofficially. The crowds fell silent as the priest began to speak.

"We are gathered here today to witness three unions joined together under the sight of the gods. As long as they love each other, their bond shall never fall. First, we have Marcus and Rhiga."

Turning to the couple, Vespion asked Marcus the standard speech.

"Marcus, do you take Rhiga to be your lawfully wedded wife? To hold her and cherish her in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, and, forsaking all others, remain true to her as long as you both shall live?"

Meanwhile, Sasha was still looking for Eternion.

The whole of Violet's headfur, well, the front part of it was now black, along with her paws and underneath her eyes.  She had gone to her room for a few moments just to look in the mirror for some sort of clue, mainly to get a proper look at her symbol on her stomach, which wasn't glowing at the moment, it had died down for the time being.

Violet let off a quick sigh, taking one last look at her look she had at the moment before deciding to head back to the wedding, however, sitting down near the back, more or less where Ku'ux was sitting.

Ku'ux glanced over at her "Your fur, it's black" he said rather quietly to her.
"I know, it's nothing" Violet told him back rather quietly, trying not to raise any concerns.
Ku'ux continued to look at her for a few more seconds before looking back at the wedding again.
Violet just sat there rather quietly as she thought it was best to just keep this to herself for now, not to tell Vespion or any of the other mages about what's happened, she just didn't want to have to worry them.
