Suddenly, horns rang out from inside of the city.

"What's that?" Selturma asked Rex's mother. "I don't know, but it sounds like one of ours. I've heard a sound like that before when Rex's father would go on military parades."

Adykon knew what it meant...

"That signal means we gotta get of of the wall on the side! We're in for a pounding!"

the sound was familiar to margas as well. he grabbed both Minna and ilsa and literally carried them as he ran down the steps " Ok, wheres the safest spot to catch our breath?' He asked, as both Minna and Ilsa struggled in his strong grip..

"That's a bad thing isn't it?" Violet asked in regards to the horn that was sounded.

Ku'ux on the other hand, decided to take the chance to go and find Adykon, to see if he knows anything about what was going on, rushing back over to where he believed Adykon would be.

Adykon saw Ku'ux heading towards him, and tried to wave the minotaur back for fear that he too would be put in danger by the catapults. It had no effect, and the minotaur continued forward.

"I don't know, Violet" Rex's mother told the Lycan girl. She sounded brave, but deep down, the mother of the household was scared.

Ku'ux approached Adykon and looked to him "That horn of yours, what does it entitle? Is the enemy preparing, yet, another attack?" he asked him.

"Oh, it sounds bad though" Violet replied back as she kept on hugging the pillow.

"We are being called to retreat. To fall back from the wall, as the dragonbloods may strike that side with their siege equipment." Adykon replied. Unfortunately, the other sides of Minbenthac were also under attack. The city was shaped like a square, and the dragonbloods only had enough forces to assault one side. The other three armies were holding back, to see if the city would fall to the only army that could fly and get over the walls instead of having to go through them.

Now, the Runeforged army moved to attack...

Lead the way then" Minna said, starting to move behind the others as they moved away from the walll.. "Why do I get the feelings are only going to get worse?"

"They probably will get worse" Adykon thought to himself. 5000 enemies had brought the defenses to their knees. 15,000 were left outside, roaring like furies. There was no prophecy saying that the city would burn, but none saying that it would be saved. What happened next was totally up to history and valor.

As Violet was sitting down, she heard a knock on the door as she looked to Rex's mother "There's um, someone at the door"

Outside, a girl stood waiting for the door to be answered. What she wore was a a pair of shorts and a shirt, as well as a pair of, what seemed to be jandals on her feet as well. She cast no shadow in the sunlight at all. She was a human, but of a vampire kind, yet, she was able to retain the ability to walk in the sun.
She had long black hair as well, standing at an average heigh. She looked to be around 18 or so years of age, but her true age wasn't known at the moment.
Her name was Kayla and at the moment, she was just seeking refuge from the fight. She was the only one of her kind by the looks of things, that lived with the Dracons.
Sure, she lived on her own, but that's all she could do, she had to, to be able to escape from her father, but yet, she wasn't sure on how long it would actually last for.

Rex's mother quickly opened the door and recognized the girl as Kayla.

"Quick, get in, GET IN! The city's under attack!" She yelled as she all but grabbed the girl and pulled her in, then quickly locked the door behind her.

Kayla beheld Selturma, Violet, and Rex's siblings, young males and females alike. All of them were resting or playing a game in the living room. All of them were dressed in loincloths, and the ones the females wore were little more than pieces of rope with a cloth on either end. This was the kind of thing that they wore in the privacy of their homes.

Selturma, having never seen Kayla before, went to go greet her, more excited than usual at the prospect of meeting another friend:

Violet looked over and saw the young vampire human.

"Um...Selturma right?" Kayla asked, trying to understand what Selturma had just said to her "The war? Well, I was out there before, but I had to escape from it, I can't fight those things, I mean, I know some moves.....but nothing that can fight those...." she then shook her head "I'm Kayla by the way, I've actualy been here for a while now....only place I can really call home, away from my father"

Violet decided to then speak up "Um, how come you don't cast a shadow?"

"Oh, that, well, it's rather simple, I'm a vampire actually" Kayla explained to Violet "And you, you're a Lycan aren't you?"

"Yeah, I'm a Lycan" Violet giggled back.

"I've never met a Lycan before, I've heard about your kind, but never met any before" Kayla told Violet with a smile before she looked to Selturma again.

Rex's mother relaxed, confident that there were no other dangers to herself, her home, and her family. At least, none at the moment. Surely, more perils were yet to come, so for now, it was time to unwind.

"Have a seat, Kayla. Take off your human clothes, or... whatever it is you call those things on your feet." While she was too polite to mention it, Rex's mother also thought that wearing a shirt made Kayla look a bit like a male.

Kayla decided to slip off her sandals as she looked to the pillows before sitting down with everyone else in an empty spot on the floor and looked to the game in the middle "What kind of game are you playing?" she decided to ask.

"I'm not sure myself, Selturma was still sort of explaining it to me at least" Violet replied back.

Kayla just gave a little nod back in return as she looked to Rex's mum "By the way, thank you for letting me stay in here for the time being"

"You are most welcome" Rex's mother told Kayla as she too lay down on her stomach on a couch. "Selturma, why don't you show Violet and Kayla how to play Draconset?"

"Sure thing!" Selutrma replied, bouncing up and down, her tiotleglas bouncing with her on her chest.

Moving over to the round game board, Selturma explained how it worked.

"The goal of Draconset is to eliminate the enemy army. Each side gets several pieces, and each piece can move one square in any direction, but only one piece can move per turn. Also, some pieces are more powerful than others, so be careful when matching one against another. Three people can play at once, and the last one standing wins. Any questions?"

"No, I have no questions" Kayla spoke "I'll learn some more by playing it"

"Um, I have a question....can I play first to try it?" Violet decided to ask as well.

Both Kayla and Violet set up their piece on the board as Kayla gave a stretch as well, deciding to take her top off, mainly from feeling hot as she wasn't really used to the heat in the Dracon city still, and especially since pretty much everyone else was doing the same, save for Violet.

"Go ahead, try it!" Selturma replied with a smile.

Several of the other dracons in the room looked over at Kayla, seeing her lithe body, her black hair, her white skin, her uncovered top, and her...

"Ew! Five toes. Who ever heard of that?" One of Rex's brothers said, quite impolitely.

Kayla just ignored the comment made in regards to her toes as she made the first move on the board before Violet made her move.

At first, it seemed to be going well in the game before Kayla took the lead, having eliminated two of Violet's pieces by now.

Meanwhile, back outside, Ku'ux moved away from the wall after nodding to Adykon as he waited with the others, ready for the next attack by the Dragonblood army.

To Adykon's surprise. The Dragonblooded army stopped. Just... stopped. No more charges, no volleys of catapulted rocks, no pyromancers or incendiaries. What was going on here?

"There's an attack on the other side of the city!" A messenger shouted, desperately attempting to move the reinforcements from one side of the wall to another in time to fight off the Spellforged army that was rapidly approaching the walls using siege towers and mages!

Oh. So that's why they stopped.
