The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"I'm fine, my husband." The rogue thought about it for a moment, and then; "Well, I've got some tension in my neck, but all things considered, that isn't so bad."

Adykon and Vespion stayed on the walls, anticipating an imminent attack. The cleric noticed that the demonbred were just standing there, looking calm, disoriented, and not very dangerous. Weird. They had been violent and raging just a short while ago. Something fishy was going on.

Eriol arrived to the city walls, he saw soldiers preparing in the best way they could. He then decided to climb the walls using a nearby stair and then he began looking at what is outside. - "The Demonbred." - he muttered to himself.

That army was quiet, almost like if they have no idea what to do so they are just calm there. - "They look like they have no leader. I thought that Dememoras was that, but if he cannot be here, then they need a field commander. I would not be amazed if 'she' had something to do about this." - At this point, there could not be many things that could really be a surprise the Gaean Panther. He then saw to his right and found Adykon and Vespion at a distance, but he is not in the mood to give any explanations just yet, they will know soon enough, though.

Suddenly, a yellow flare went up into the sky, sent by Dememoras himself. No one had seen where it was from, but he probably teleported it in. Regardless, the effect was instant and immediate. All of the enemies save for the demonbred charged, and the three dragons attacked the party!

The red dragon was the first to charge, aiming himself at Adykon, folding his wings, and swooping down on the warrior!

Minna Ilsa and Margas rushed to the Wall just as the offensive reached the wall of the city 'Here we go again girls! Be ready! " Marcgas yelled as he raced up to the city rampants, his wife and her friend close behind.. Above them the three huge dragons soured down through the defenders picking some off the walls and carrying them up in the air, and either tearing them apart, or simply dropping them and letting the fall in their death. the screams made Ilsa shudder, it was never easy seeing someone die..
_
Would you like me to rub your back, dear?' Marcus said with a smile temporarily forgetting the carnage that was going on outside.

Instants before Adykon could react, he was saved. It was not by his team mates, and it wasn't by the army of Minbenthac. It wasn't even due to the enemy's incompetence. Appearing between the Dracon warrior and the Dragon was a visage of Dememoras himself!

The red dragon screeched to a halt and landed on a building near the walls, looking pointedly at the apparition of his master. This image of Dememoras was only about as large as a Dracon, and its voice was muted to the point that it did not sound the tenth part as powerful as the one behind it. Regardless, it still spoke in a menacing tone that all around could hear, even though it was just a projection. The wards around Minbenthac were powerful, and normally prevented outside spells from coming in, be they teleportation, abjuration, conjuration, or something as simple as a magical means of projecting one's image and voice into the city. Crystal balls and means of direct magical communication could still be used, but an outright image appearing in the city streets was another story.

It was a sign of Dememoras's power that he could breach the wards of Minbenthac without any outside aids or assistance. He was here to address the three surviving commanders of the armies he had sent. The red dragon looked at the image in the eye, but held his tongue. Anything the master said was to be obeyed without question or hesitation.

"My minions! We have tested the defenses of Minbenthac, and they are weaker than we had expected. Nevertheless, I can sense that one of our armies is not performing as well as planned. Therefore, I order you all to pull back and teleport to base. Victory is impossible without the Demonbred joining in the attack. Dragons! You will lead the Demonbred back to the teleportation sites with the rest of the armies, and depart. It was not the enemy's strength, but the incompetence of one who is beneath me who is responsible for this. To those who dare oppose us, know but this: the attack you have seen today was but a test run. You have been given a rare opportunity in this world. I grant you a second chance. If your city submits to be peacefully, it shall be spared. Resist a second time, and you shall all be ground to dust. Using the least of my armies, I have brought one of the most power Dracon cities to its knees. You know as well as I do that I wish to see no one who can serve me be killed, so long as they pledge their undying loyalty to me, the undying God! As for you, Adykon... you still have a part to play in this drama. Your survival only continues because I will it; because I can still see a purpose for you, the same way I can see a purpose for a tool or a weapon. The moment you are no longer potentially useful to me is the moment you shall die. I have spoken!"

The apparition faded away. Vespion, who was standing next to Adykon and the image of Dememoras, could feel that a similar vision appeared in the rest of the city, having been projected in over 500 locations at the same time! Hearing the words of their master, the entire dark army simply turned around and began to leave. There were no stragglers, no pockets of resistance, and if they were demoralized or disappointed by their 'defeat', they didn't show it.

Meanwhile...

Back at Rex's house Sasha interrupted before Jake could say something. Sasha leaned over and whispered something into Selturmas ear. "should we go up stairs and talk? you know girl time?". Jake felt annoyed that he didn't get to speak so he stole a piece of pork from Sashas plate while she spoke to Selturma.

Selturma listened the the events outside. While the sound was muted due to the thick walls of the house, it sounded like the battle was ending, and since vicious dracon warriors weren't pouring into the house to slaughter all of them, it must have ended reasonably well for Minbenthac's forces. At the very least, the city would survive another day. There was time to relax. So far, the war hadn't forced her to grow up too quickly.

"Alright. We can do that. Sure. Let's go upstairs." Selturma went upstairs, practically bouncing up ever step, but beneath the external happiness, she felt uncertainty; where was Adykon? What would happen to her city? Was the battle really won?

Once Selturma and Sasha were upstairs they walked over to a brown coloured bed with dark red sheets. Sasha jumped onto the bed and she lay down on her stomache. Sasha felt completely relaxed after eating dinner. She felt happy that the battle had ended as well. while she lay, she fidgeted a little to make herself a little more comfortable on the bed. Sasha then moved her right hand through her hair so that it wasn't over her face. Sasha stretched her legs and then she crossed them over each other. She was finally comfortable. "so Selturma, now that the battle is over..what do you want to talk about..boys?!?" sasha said enthusiastically "ways to annoy jake and rex?!?" Sasha began to feel really excited "theres so many options!!!" Sasha smiled

Selturma lay down on her stomach as well, making sure that her loincloth was still on straight. "I'd like to talk about the boys, but I don't want to talk about annoying them. Really, Sasha, I'm concerned. What's gonna happen if this war doesn't end well? Will Rex and Jake have to go off and fight one day and we never see them again?"

Shifting her weight, Selturma made herself more comfortable. She moved her right hand to her left horn, and removed a piece of dust that had somehow gotten stuck on it. There was a brief scraping sound as her claw scratched against the horn.

"that would be horrible..."replied sasha as she bowed her head down a little. She then looked back up and said "well at least they're still here...hmmm....maybe we should spend more time with them so that we can relax and forget about the whole situation..maybe we can invite Jake and Rex up for truth or dare? i reckon it'd be fun" Sasha smiled and she got up off the bed carefully trying not to slip onto the smooth wooden floor. Sasha turned around once she was standing up and waited for a response from Selturma.

"Alright. I know Rex is here, at least. We should spend some time with the boys. I know that war and crisis can draw people closer together, but... I don't want to just do stuff with them because we are in trouble; I want to spend time with them because we... we... well, we like them."

Selturma looked a bit embarrassed as she continued.

"I mean, like them like them. Not just... oh. I don't know how you feel about Jake, but Rex... I really, really like him. He knows it, but it is hard for me to say it."

" i feel the same way about Jake too, Jake knows that but i don't think he realizes just how much i actually do like him. We've both been together for a long time but i think that he is beginning to understand just how much. Anyway, let's go get the boys and play truth or dare" Said Sasha, Sasha smiled and she began walking to the door, she opened it and walked down the stairs and into the living room. There Rex and jake were sitting down on a couch just relaxing. Jake noticed Sasha had arrived downstairs. "hey Sasha, what's up?". "selturma and i were both wondering if you two boys would like to come upstairs to play truth or dare with us?" replied Sasha. "sure why not" replied Rex. Rex and Jake both got up off the chair and followed Sasha upstairs into the bedroom.

The four of them were now upstairs in the bedroom. Rex, Sasha, Jake, and Selturma were sitting on two beds, two per side. The humans were on one side, and the Dracons were on the other. Each pair was facing the other. Selturma was the first one to start the game.

"Jake, how did you get your metal arm?" She asked the human.

"well when i was seven my family took me to a fair a couple of miles away from our farm. Once we had arrived their was a magic show, it was so cool....until something went wrong....One of the magicians screwed up and one of the potions had exploded at the front stage. Anyone near it died instantly....but me...i was just far enough away where it only took my arm..." Jake looked at his arm then he looked back up "luckily, the other magicians were wealthy enough to help my parents buy me a new arm....well i guess it's my turn now to ask you a question, if you could do anything in the world and not have any consequences, what would it be???"

"Dragons appearing... and going away as fast as they came, Dememoras appearing. What else could happen?" - Eriol was thinking as he began to climb down the stairs he used to get to the top of the city walls some moments ago, when suddenly he began feeling some pain, the pain caused by his recent fight with his "wife", but only now he is feeling the toll of that combat as the family "curse" on him has diminished enough as the immediate danger passed. - "I think that Mimic is still causing trouble." - he thought as walked, ignoring the pain.

After some moments, he saw Vespion in the distance, with Adykon. Eriol knows that Vespion is mage and a healer, so he reached them in the tower. - "It looks like Dememoras wants to get things into the next level. So his next attack will be indeed bigger." - he said as he got closer to the Dracons. - "Vespion, can you lend me a hand with some injuries I got?" - The Dracons could notice that he was no longer "snapped up", but there was still something strange on him, something happened to him.

Without a word, Vespion ran over to Eriol, placed his hands on the panther's chest, and after muttering a few words, a light blue glow emanated from the cleric's hands. Within a moment, the wounds were healed, and the cleric was free to ask what was happening.

"Eriol, I could sense that something had happened between you and Arianne. I dread to ask, but... she died, didn't she? She tried to betray you and there was a fight, wasn't there? I am sorry for your loss, my friend." Vespion hadn't seen it, but as a mage, he could feel it when someone with magic died. The whole truth of the story was even worse than Vespion could anticipate.

Meanwhile...

Selturma thought about Jake's words. "I would like... hmm. I'd like a large family. With lots of boys. There would have to be girls too, but the oldest would have to be a boy. Yeah... a brave young man, who would make me proud. And since you told me it could be mine with no consequences, there wouldn't be any problem feeding them. That would be nice. Who wants to go next?" This topic was clearly a sensitive one, but the thought of it was intriguing to the girl, to say the least. Rex noticed that her tail wagged back and worth as she spoke of the family she wanted.

Eriol felt much better after Vespion cured his wounds, but after hearing his question, he knew he has to tell what happened. - "The sooner the better." - he said as he sighed. - "My wife is dead, she was killed many months ago back in the lands I come from." - He frowned as he kept looking at both Vespion and Adykon. - "The woman you met was not my wife, she was a Mimic sent by our good friend Dememoras."

The Panther was angered. - "After the battle, she took me into a house, to have some intimate time, that is when she revealed herself as she tried to lure me to join Dememoras... But the frightening part was that if that thing wouldn't have changed it's behavior, I may have joined." - he sighed again. - "... that darned Dememoras, wanting me to join him by making promises of get my revenge and to rejoin my son." - He took a look at Vespion. - "The death you felt, was me killing that Mimic."

Minna , Margas And Ilsa headed back to Minna's palace..  as Margas headed in, he felt Ilsa squeeze his claw "Are you ready for some private time? She whispered in his ear "If you catch my drift"  "My dear, it is not even nightfall yet.. patience.. haven't you done this before? Margas asked
_ No i haven't" Ilsa admitted and Margas turned and looked at her.. "wow.. i had thought that, being an attractive female, you would.. have had experience.." Ilsa shook her head..'Your father sheltered you..more than most..but I promise.. tonight will be an experience you won't forget Ilsa.." Margas nuzzled her as they headed into the guest room to relax..
_ Marcus opened the door and headed out into the street, which was choked with debris from the battle. His own house needed repairs: there were sections of the roof that had pieces knocked off "You can come out my darling, its over" He called into to Rhiga..

Rhiga looked at the mess just outside of her door. The rubble in the streets was pretty bad, not nice to walk through, especially for a race without footwear. Still, it could be cleared soon enough.

"Ugh. I can't believe they did that. Still, Minbenthac hasn't fallen, and we still have a roof over our heads. I'd say we are fairly well-off, given what could have happened." Rhiga stepped gingerly into the streets, wearing her loincloth and top. Touching the ground with her foot, she couldn't feel any small pieces of broken glass or fine debris. Most of the wreckage was large and easy to transport. It was good news.

"I don't think clearing this will be too hard, my love. I am certain that cleanup crews will be around at some point." Rhiga imagined that the king or the nobles would organize workers to clear out the debris, and that it would become politicized and there would be fighting over jobs by the poor, and the payments made to the cleaners would become a means of buying their loyalty in the inevitable struggle for influence and power. Politics as usual.
