Adykon had fallen to the ground, but he was not badly hurt... the party could see this. So it came as a great surprise to all of them when he suddenly passed out!
"What the-? Adykon!" Vespion said, casting a healing spell. The bruises and burns disappeared, but Adykon was still unconscious.
----
Adykon found himself in a dream, falling down and landing in a dark room with a flat, dry stone floor. The air smelled fresh, almost like the air in a forested mountain... the the sun lit up. There was no explosion, no burst of heat, no change of color in the blue sky, it just lit up like a candle...
"Warrior, hear my words and heed them" a female voice called... it sounded familiar...
"Who are you?" Adykon said. "What have you done to me? Where am I?"
"Peace, Adykon" the disembodied voice spoke. "I am a Dracon, like yourself, and I will tell you what I must. You need to know more of whom you are fighting."
"You know who is behind all of this?" Adykon replied.
"His name is not known to me... but the legend of the master is one that archmages in our lands all know... and fear" the voice added. "I will contact you again tonight to tell you more. Look around the environment in this unreal place..."
"It feels real enough" Adykon said, walking out of the room and onto a stony path. He looked down at his clothing to see that he was only wearing a loincloth. "What?! Where's my armor?! Where did you put-!"
"I don't recall what the rest of your clothing looked like, so I gave you some minimal coverings for the purposes of this vision... no one can really see you here, not even I. I need to show you a key to your quest."
Adykon suddenly found himself moving very quickly along the path, as if the ground itself was moving past him. When he tried to walk, his feet didn't move him anywhere, although he could feel the ground. Then, the ground stopped moving and he saw some ruins bearing Dracon architecture, not at all unlike the one he had been adventuring in before, except these ruins were dominated by a vast white light with light blue around its rims... it looked like the fabric of space-time had been torn...
"This rip leads to the positive energy plane, a realm of such intense power that almost any unprotected being would overload with energy and explode in under a minute. Long ago, the master sought to harness the power of this rip." The female voice began to quiver, as if weakening, and the world itself faded a bit, as if a fire was flickering. In a moment, she regained her composure and the world brightened again.
"A great hero stopped the master thousands of years ago. Since then, he has been trying to harness another power source to take over our lands. So far, he has not succeeded. He has come perilously close to success several times before, but someone, usually an archmage and some adventurers, has managed to foil his plans." The scene flickered again, and a cry of strain could be heard from the tired female voice.
"Unn! I cannot keep this up much longer. This spell was designed for my husband, not a female's weak body. I need to rest soon, and you need to wake up, Adykon. I will contact you again later." The scene faded to black and the next thing Adykon knew was that the tower had burned down and there was bits and pieces of wood all over the place.
