"i feel.....so good!" said Sasha excitedly "come on let's go to the inn now that i'm better....." Sasha noticed Jake was looking a little pale...."Jake?....you feeling okay?....". Jake didn't seem to hear Sasha and he kept staring into nothingness...then he faced Sasha, he smiled and he kicked her over. "ha ha ha ha haa!" he laughed. Jake ran towards the temple door

"That was... weird" Selturma said. "Rex, did Jake ever do anything like that before? You've known him longer than I have."

Sasha was more surprised than hurt by that. She would find Jake later. For now, she put on her loincloth, but could not get her top to comfortably fit her now enlarged top section... this was odd too.

"Cleric, what did you do to me?" Sasha asked, sounding as indignant as she was surprised.

"I have enhanced your powers, girl. You now have the ability to absorb energy through your skin. In fact, given the way your powers have been reconfigured, you have to absorb extra power through your skin, or else your powers will feed off of your normal life force and consume you from within. You still need to eat in order to maintain the normal chemical reactions which keep your physical body alive, and you will still need to sleep... but your powers should be greater now, provided that you have time to absorb the extra energy. A word of caution, though; absorbing too much energy at once can be harmful to your health, as can casting too many spells; you still get tired as you did before, although if you are highly charged, you cast probably cast 3-4 spells before passing out, instead of just 1 or 2. Your soft body was not the best candidate for becoming a battery..."

The cleric regretted saying that last part; he had given away part of his intentions.

The remaining three youths ran into the dark streets. Sasha could immediately feel the emptiness as her body detected less energy than it did in the temple... she could feel energy the same way a dog could smell food... well, almost. It wasn't a smell as much as it was a sensation, like heat. Her body needed that now in the same way she needed food...

...she would have to deal with it later. Right now, the three kids saw Vespion, Eriol, Selturma, and some of the Fauxen approaching, along with some old Dracon.

"Sasha! Rex! Selturma! Thank goodness you are safe! Where were you? You were supposed to meet us at the inn!" Vespion told them.

"We were attacked by thugs and i used i blinding spell...i was extremely weak and the others brought me to a temple to be rested...but the priest made me a battery... jake also agreed to an experimental spell....If Jake didn't accept the spell i would have to get my energy retored naturally..." said Sasha

"it means that i need to get energy like i need food. i'll have to be more exposed so i can absorb energy from sources...i can take energy from the sun, ground and other beings that i touch...i'm not sure if i can only absorb if i want to or not.." said Sasha

"Let me see" Rhiga said, taking Sasha by the hand. The Dracon female felt no weaker. "It must be voluntary; you aren't draining me of energy."

"It seems that you DO involuntarily absorb some energies, like sunlight, but you have voluntary control over whether or not you take it from things you touch with your hands..." Vespion observed.

"I'll do it" Selturma said. "Just don't take too much from me..." the female added. "I trust you... touch me on my shoulder, if you want to do this...."

The adults there were surprised by Selturma's willingness to do it, but they shouldn't have been; she realized that they were combatants who needed all their energy, while she was just a girl with no special powers...

"here goes..." said Sasha as she gently placed her hand on Selturmas shoulder. Sasha began concentrating on absorbing some energy. Sasha began to glow a little bit. Sasha let go "did it work?" she asked "do you feel a little less energetic?"

"A little" Selturma said, not feeling like bouncing up and down. "It wasn't much, but then again, you weren't trying to hurt me."

Sasha felt a bit more powerful, but no more or less hungry. This was a whole new physical need for her entirely, one more thing she had to worry about... <_<

Anyway, her hand was slightly red from absorbing that energy, but the redness disappeared in a few seconds. If it had been more energy, her whole body would have been changing color as if she had been sunburned. Sasha also gained the ability to sense energy signatures, as she now "ate" energy. Mages frequently had some sense of this, and Sasha had been no exception, but now her sense for energy had increased many times over. She was now able to track others by their unique energy readings...

"We need to find Jake!" Rhiga said, her past disagreements with him totally forgiven and forgotten. Saving him was as high a priority for her as saving one of her relatives; there was no question in her mind that she had to locate him and fix whatever was wrong with him.
