Now, not the time for that" marcus said calmly' now get dressed.. we're leaving.. the sooner we get out of here, the more "fun" time we'll have.. as it is we have a wedding waiting for us in Minbenthac.. we are going to have a wedding/ Marcus asked Minna who nodded. "Yes, we'll have wedding a day or so after we get back, we need time to set things up again.."

Rhiga put on her loincloth silently and reluctantly. She had no weaponry on her at this time... but she could get new weapons in Minbenthac. The sooner they were out of there, the better. Her pregnancy was only barely beginning to show, and her loincloth didn't really cover much... just the bare minimum of brown cloth on either end, with a narrow cord running along the sides.

"Let's go then. To leave the city, I took a tunnel... an illegal tunnel... that led under the walls. We will have to pay... quite a lot for it, but I think they'll let Kos go for free..."

"Pay? Pay nothing. I'm sure that whatever group controls this tunnel is no match for us" Adykon said.

"True... I'll have to sit this fight out though" Rhiga added. "Are we ready?"

The party members all said they were.

"Then let's go. I'll show you the way" She told them.

After a while, the party approached a broken down building. Entering it, they saw a number of locked wooden doors. Rhiga knocked seven times on one of them and stomped her foot twice. This was the signal to open the door...

Uraca, Charisa, and Lutgicia were nervous. They didn't expect anything to go well... and the door...

... didn't open. Rhiga knocked again as before, and then a third time. Eventually, Adykon just hacked the door down, eager to get out of the city. The room inside was the site of massacre. Rhiga gasped as she saw dead bodies, clearly weeks old, thoroughly decayed just strewn about all over the place, sometimes chopped in pieces. The tunnel itself was destroyed, and the markings on the wall clearly showed the sign of the insignia of the city... the authorities had beaten them to it...

The smell of dead Dracon was overpowering... the party quickly left the room, disgusted by what they saw.

'Well, this is just grand,' Eternion groaned, putting his sword back into his hilt. 'Out of the frying pan, and into the fire.'

'They can be damn efficient... when they want to be...'

Eternion paused for a moment. 'Now, I might have mentioned before about an old series of crypts underneath the city... well, mostly under the temple I was working at...'

He took a breath. 'I haven't been under there for years... but there we're rumors that there was a way out of the city through newly developed tunnels.'

'Newly developed if you disregard the fact they stopped working several years ago,' he said with a slight grin.

"Yes. Let's try it. I see no other options..." Adykon replied.

The party headed for the temple, having to take the long route through Hekaga's hard stone streets in order to avoid crowded intersections where guards were often found. Eventually they reached the temple Eternion had once worked at.

There was a series of tunnels underneath the temple alright, including some new crypts that were being added. WHY they stopped work was another issue. The king of the city had ordered them to stop work, but never gave a good reason. This was because the new tunnels were getting close to the royal escape tunnel whose very existence was kept a state secret.

In the event of a revolution or a major riot, the royals had the option of heading from the city to their fortress in the nearby mountains. The fortress itself was huge, well-built, and on high ground. The only way up to it overland was up a narrow, twisting path that had to be crossed in a single file. It was difficult to approach if one was wanted there, and nearly impregnable if the defenders of the castle didn't want one to approach. While attacks by air, using magic, or an attack that could bore through the mountains or somehow get a large force up there could knock the fortress out of commission, this was a daunting prospect. Without a siege to starve the defenders out, it was very hard to take it.

But it was also very hard to supply a fortress located on a mountain, far from food and water; in order to get the latter, the architects had to construct an aqueduct by tunneling under the mountains to an aquifer, then move the water to the palace itself. Bringing in food was even harder; it largely had to be moved by tunnel. Located about 15 kilometers from the city itself, the tunnel has to be just as long. At the end of the tunnel that was under the fortress, the supplies were taken up by a lift that was operated by a chain and pulley. In order to keep it well-supplied, it took three caravans a week worth of goods, sometimes more. The other end of the tunnel which received the supplies was underneath the city's great temple, where it was assumed the supplies were going, as that structure itself required many supplies of its own.

The particular temple which Eternion had once worked at was not far from the much larger great temple, so the tunnel ran close to its underground section. No one in the party or the temple they were went to actually knew any of this, but they would find out soon enough...

So which door leads to the tunnels? Minna asked as they reached the temple.. " The sooner we get out of here, the better so it is best if we get in there wthout being seen.." Minnas feet were hurting from the sharp stones.. but she ignored the aches for now.. getting out was more important than her discomfort..

Arianne was very quiet all the way they have been walking. The sight of those dead Dracons and then some catacombs is not a very cheerful way to spend the day. But still, Eriols words came in good time - "We must see the birght side of all of this. With each step, we are getting closer to Minbenthac by getting out of here." - Eriol had a very serene but serious stance. It may not mean much for the Dracons, but for Arianne it was the stance that made her fall in love with him.

While the party was travelling Jake began to wake up. Rex had been carrying him since they left the inn. "uhh....huh...what..what's happening?....." was all that Jake managed to say before he realized he was being carried. Jake swung his right fist around and hit rex in the head. Rex fell to the ground unconcious. Jake got up off the ground "ha you think knocking me out unconcious will stop me!?, well think again!" Jake turned and he began running back towards the center of the city.

"Oh great!" - Eriol managed to say as he saw Jake running, and he began running towards him, trying to catch him up.

Arianne knelt besides Rex, checking his head for injuries. She then asked - "There should be a way to return Jake to normal... I am just getting to worried about what could happen to him."

Let him go" Ilsa said anger on her face. " If he wants to be left alone here, its his own fault! We've had enough problems trying to find him, and we need to get out of here! Bring Rex and Selturma along..
_
Sasha shook her head " Jakes not himself.." She shook her head. "Well, theres nothing we can do for him, its harsh, buts it is what it is minna said. "We're going.. and if hes not with us.. than so be it.."

(OOC: Metadude, I will not spend any more time following Jake around in circles. You've done it enough. We've spent over a MONTH in REAL-TIME just hunting him down on his various escapades. Make him join the party yourself because, no one else is going to follow him. We're moving on now, and you're welcome to join us. In other words, stop trying to slow down the plot. It isn't fun for anyone.)

The party came down the the lower levels of the temple, following Eternion's lead... it was dark and dry... not dank, dirty, or undead-infested... that last one was especially important.  :lol

Kuja hovered off the ground, inspecting the tunnels.
"So, this will lead us out of this dismal place, will it?"
He said cheerily as Akio stood besided him.
"That's the hope at least, my friend.  Well, I see no point in standing here any longer.  Shall we be off, Eternion?"
He asked the old dracon...

Akito and Ruka looked around the catacombs.
"This place...it seems rather odd..."
Akito noted, sniffing the air a little as Ruka clung to his arm.
"A-Akito?  I don't like it down here..."
The younger Fauxen whispered...

Touga, Juri, Utena, and Miki all walked down into the catacombs nervously...

Eriol sighed after hearing what Ilsa said. - "It just doesn't feel right." - He said and he turned again to meet the rest of the party. As they continuing advancing, the Panthers saw that it was getting indeed dark, but that was not issue for them, as felines, they can still see well with minimal light.

"This place is creepy, but I am eager to pass this so we can finally go to Minbenthac." - Arianne said as she used her arms to grab on Eriol's right arm, she was indeed nervous. He smiled as both of them followed the party through the catacombs.

_
How far do these tunnels go, Eternion?' Marcus asked as he walked alonside Rhiga, and looked ahead as the tunnel wound onward..

(once the spell wears off Jake will go looking for the party, you don't have to have anyone look for him at all. I have a plan for him)

Jake continued running down the dark streets. Once Jake was sure that no one was following him he stopped and he saw a house. Jake walked up to the house. He turned the door nob but it was locked...Jake walked over to a window, no one was inside so he smashed open one of the windows with his metal arm. Jake climbed inside and he sat down in a small chair.

-----

"These tunnels arn't very nice to be walking in....." moaned Sasha "but nothing we can do....".

After a while Rex regained conciousness. "what happened..uhh...." managed Rex "last thing i remember was Jake waking up....wait..did he punch me in the head or something?"

"yes he did....." replied Sasha "he ran off after that...."

The party advanced through the tunnels, heading down the stairs lit only by a few dim torches... it was very creepy for some... even Adykon would swear that the undead were about to jump out at him, although none were going to...

Kos was having a great time, by contrast. The toddler loved all of the new sights and smells...

Marcus looked over at Kos " he sure seems to be enjoying himself" He said as he looked at the smile on the youngster's face, " Unfortunately no one else is " Minna said switching her staff into her left claw. ' this place is really creepy and dark. the sooner we get out of here.. the better.."

After a while, the party came to a section that was caved in. It was as if work had just stopped in that section after the party had come to it. They had stopped tunneling all of a sudden, but there was light coming from the other end.

Adykon put Kos down and looked through the cracks in the fallen rubble. There was another tunnel on the other side... a well-lit tunnel at that.

"Everyone, I think we have our way out!" Adykon exclaimed. "Help me break down this wall! Vespion-"

"I'm on it. Everyone, get back! I'm going to use a fireball!" the cleric-mage replied.
