Thacklos left Rhiga and Marcus to have some privacy on their own. He returned to Tallon's palace, and resumed his meditations as if nothing had happened. It was all par for the course for a healer such as himself. There were other things par for the course for him as well. In this case, it took the form of a female with green skin, blue eyes, and a top and bottom that matched her ochre-colored belly.
"Had to run out to take care of another case, love?"
"Yes, Mazun" he replied to the green-skinned female.
"Couldn't it have waited? You left me lying here, again. You told me you would make time for me tonight."
"We have time now, Maz. Come on, it's alright" He told her, taking her in his arms.
"No, not now."
"You said you wanted to-"
"Later. You spoiled the moment."
"It was an urgent case. If I hadn't have gone-"
"Every case is urgent these days. I'm not buying it."
"If I hadn't have been there-"
"You need to be there for me more!"
"Ahh... listen! You know that you are only one of my four-"
"Yes, I know. I KNOW!"
"I have to make time for all of you. If I took more time away from-"
"That makes them time you have with me worth more!"
"Stop cutting me off! Look, Mazun, you know I love you."
"You sure don't act like it."
"The other three don't complain!"
"Yeah, cause they have no spine! You told me that you loved my attitude, my will, the fact that I don't act like a little love puppet! You told me you liked that in a female."
"I do. I always have, and I always will. There are other things I like in a female too."
"Do you ever stop talking about yourself? 'I, I, I' You've been talking in those terms since we started this conversation. What about ME? Don't I have any rights? Don't I deserve your attention?!"
"You do. You most certainly do. I-...eh... things must be balanced, though. It would do no good if the time spent healing others was reduced just to help you. People live and die by my actions. Failure to act on my part could result in disaster. What I do is very important. I'm a major asset to Tallon." Thacklos responded.
"Hmmph. That's cause you were born with the fancy magic, and the talent and the healing hands... and the right body parts between the legs! What do I do? Hang around the palace all day, sleep in, and I'm expected to be all over you when you want me to be, and disappear when you don't want me."
"Now that isn't really fair, Maz."
"Isn't it? Don't all females in this palace come as ornaments, like fancy pieces of furniture? Really, look at me! What do I do? My whole purpose here is to be a wife to you! I'm worth much more than that! You told me that yourself! You said you thought males and female were worth the same!"
"They ARE worth the same. There's only so much I can do to make things better for you, however. I can't change the culture or the laws, nor can I make you into something you are not."
"What's THAT supposed to mean?"
"It means that even my magic cannot heal our society. I know it isn't right. You know it too. There are some things, which, if we tried to fight them, would crush us both. I really don't think you want that to happen, Maz."
"Well... that's true" Mazun replied, resigned. "I still love you, Thacklos. I always will. It's just so hard that we don't get to see each other enough."
"I know. It's hard on me too" he replied, hugging her, pressing her soft flesh against his own. He broke the embrace after a few seconds. "I cannot make any promises, but I will make time for you in two days, alright?"
Getting up, Mazun left to get something to eat. "I suppose I'll get back to my 'female duties.' Eating, sleeping, bathing, looking pretty, and being invisible when I'm not wanted."
"Maz, I-... we can do something now if you want. I can always put off the-"
She practically jumped into his arms.
"Really?!" Now her mood was very different. Unusually happy. She had the biggest eyes when she was like this.
"Sure. It isn't too late to catch a show, is it?" Thacklos didn't go out to these sort of things very much.
"My love, it's never too late in Minbenthac." She was right; shows of all sorts played almost all day in night.
"Well, let me get my shirt and some real pants, and we can go out, then" He told her; it was that he wore than just that single piece of cloth around himself, but he would make an exception for the only female that truly interested him, even if he didn't show it enough. The other wives? They were good for a fun time, but not good for having a relationship with someone whom he knew to be his equal, and unlike the others, she acted like it.
