The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Adykon, like Ku'ux, was running over to the walls to man the defenses, speaking as he ran, the mercenary responded to the minotaur's query.

"Something's about to happen, I haven't seen Violet, and no, I'm not sure who the enemy is."

About two minutes later, the warriors made it to the walls, and quickly ascended the stairs to get to the top. There were hundreds of Dracon archers on either side of them, wearing steel armor and helmets which protected the top of their heads, either side of their eyes, and even had a small covering for a part of their snouts. Adykon was dressed in standard steel armor; the fancier equipment that he had ordered from the king was not all ready in time.

Looking out at the lone and level sands and rocks which surrounded the great city, one could not tell that 5,000 warriors from the Dragonblooded army were about to attack, even as the soldiers on the walls could feel the air being broken from the flapping of their wings.

Ku'ux had worn his usual atire, he was one to not worry about armour as he felt he didn't need it himself as he gave a nod back to Adykon "Well, whoever this army is that's wanting to attack the city....we should be prepared, your guards and fighters, they seem to be capable enough to hold their own.....let's just hope it's true"

"Well, we must make sure that the defenses will hold, or we can say goodbye." - Eriol said as he and Arianne appeared from behind Adykon and Ku'ux. Both of them were ready for the combat that was about to start.

"Do you and the superior Officers have an strategy planned, Adykon?" - Arianne asked. - "Maybe I could remain near the rest of the Party or to remain closer to the archers?. My wind magic may help their arrows to be faster or to help making enemy arrows to miss targets." - She sure sounded confident, but she was nervous inside, this battle will be the biggest she has ever been or witnessed.

"I am more of a loner warrior, but this is bigger than every one of us, and you are the leader, Adykon, so we'll keep following your lead." - Eriol added. - "Just tell us what to do and we'll make sure the city will keep standing."

"The generals have a plan. The 5,000-strong force that was recalled is now inside of the city. Only about half of that force are currently deployed along the walls; the other 2,500 are in the center of the city, and have been told to react to any breaches in the walls or any major attacks that the defenders are having trouble repelling."

Pausing to breath, Adykon continued.

"We have about 20,000 troops inside the city at this time. Normally, there would have been even more, but we were caught off-guard, even with the extra 5,000 recalled to help us. Additionally, the mages of the city will summon everything they can to hel-Argh!"

An arrow had come out of nowhere and hit Adykon! He was okay, but an arrow hit his helmet, bouncing off, but causing him a bit of pain. Still reeling from the surprise, Adykon ducked down as more arrows came from behind... a sheet. A sheet of the sky. That's how he described it. Arrows were poking holes in the sky in front of him, and through each tiny hole, a sea of skin tones and armor was visible. When more and more arrows came through, the "sky" in front of them grew full of more holes. The enemy was dropping its disguise in this side!

On top of the palace, Violet watched the events unfold as she gave off a grin to herself "Well now, it looks like the enemy has decided to attack.....about time too, I was getting rather bored....perhaps they can give me an actual challenge....." she leapt off the palace at that point and spread her wings out as she flew over to where Ku'ux, Adykon and the others were.

Ku'ux glanced behind them as he saw Violet approaching "Well, at least that answers the whereabouts of Violet"

Seeing that Violet had gone bad, Toby, also perched on the palace, flew at her from out of nowhere. He recognized the evil magics which held her in thrall. The young red dragon had seen them before, in Asthia's palace. He was not about to let Violet betray them from within the city walls.

Screeaaaahhh!!

Without saying a word, he attacked her in mid-air, breathing a stream of fire in her direction.

Unfortunately, Violet was not the traitor in question. The real traitor was in the adventuring party like Violet, but unlike Violet, who had been cursed, this one was sent by Dememoras directly; he had no association with the lycan girl at all.

She glanced back at him in midflight and smirked "Well now, the little dragon wants to play hero does he?" she chuckled to herself as she stopped with a smirk upon her face before she darted forwards at Toby, putting up a sheild of darkness to at least minimize the fire damage from him.

The flames were mostly stopped by the shield, but some got through, singing Violet. What's more, even though both combatants were in mid-air, Toby was able to get around her shield and breathe a fireball at her. "Take this, b!$%h!"

Violet just smirked back as she dropped down to allow the fireball to pass over her, although, only barely as she launched a ball of darkness in Toby's direction.

Ku'ux looked over at the fight between Violet and Toby going on "Huh....now there's something you don't see every day" he told Adykon, motioning to the two that were fighting.

Toby easily dodged the ball of darkness. As a dragon, he was a creature who had instinctive knowledge of how to fly. Therefore, he had every advantage over the cursed, unnatural, and sarcastic female whom he flew again. She was fast in the air for a Lycan with wings, but she was not nearly as maneuverable. Next to him, she was quite slow, and her aim was not remotely as good as his. Furthermore, Toby knew that inside, Violet was scared of him.

That's how it worked with those infected by dark magic; they were afraid of something. Afraid of losing their power, afraid of being beaten, afraid of falling behind the other practitioners of the dark arts in the extent of their skill and power. Most of all, they were afraid of being held accountable to a higher power. It was not so much death that frightened them, but of the possibility that someone VERY powerful would judge them...

Asthia had been afraid of death. It was a contributing factor in her decision to become a vampire. Toby knew this, and even at his young age, he found it ironic that in an attempt to avoid her demise, Asthia brought it about, then kept on going. The main reason she had made herself a vampire was to gain power, though. Was it the same with Violet? Did she gain her dark powers on purpose? Toby didn't know and didn't care.

"You think that you're so tough, Lycan? You don't know what fear is until you've faced a dragon!"

"Uh huh, and do I look scared? No? I thought not" Violet replied back to the dragon as she folded her arms, letting off a little yawn as she landed on a nearby rooftop "Yeah, I never said anything about fear, but if you wish to talk tough, very well then....how about we play a little game hmm? A simple game of follow the leader, but with a little twist....let's see how much damage we can cause in this city" she chuckled.

And that's when she jumped down into the streets bellow and into a nearby building.

Determined not to let her take it to a street level, Toby flew at her, rammed her before she could even take 5 steps, and flew into the air WITH her in front of his face. Despite his small size, he was still quite powerful, as a red dragon would be. He wouldn't let her harm the city. Then again, it was made of brick and stone for the most part, not the flimsy wooden buildings she was used to in her village.

"Oh? You seem a lot more scared now!" He told her as he threw her off of himself, knowing that she could fly before she hit the ground, although he preferred that last option. Asthia had done her best to hide it too, but Toby wasn't fooled. Violet was afraid of him.

"If you're so brave, why did you run into the streets? Afraid to face a hatchling dragon?!"

Violet only smirked back at the young dragon "Oh no, it was all part of our little game, but I guess you were too afraid to play the game, afraid to do anything to this poor Dracon city" she told him.

"Let's see if we can't kick things up a notch or two" she added on as she held out her hand to one side, darkness begining to form around her hand before it formed a sword. The sword in question had a black blade which pulsed with dark energy.

She swung it as three balls of darkness flew off it and rushed towards Toby before aiming the point of the blade in Toby's direction "Do answer me one question.....what is your purpose here? If you're not here to fight this army that's approaching, then what is your purpose here?"

Toby spoke as he easily dodged the bolts of darkness that Violet sent towards him.

"You want me to fight the dark forces, eh? I intend to. That is my purpose here. In fact, I'm starting my fight against them by getting rid of you!  Dememoras will be quite upset when he learns that his spy planted within our ranks is delivered to his throne... in pieces!!"

Toby still thought that Violet was a spy for the dark master. Staying out of range of her sword, he breathed four fireballs. Three of them went directly towards her shield, one went over her head, missing her entirely.

Violet swung her sword again, sending the three dark balls to collide with the fireballs before she let off another chuckle "My, so you believe that I am in league with Dememoras? Please, I have no intention on being part of his army, it just seems far to dull for my liking, no, I am here to face them, hoping that they can give me a good fight at the very least, besides, I can't let everyone else have all the fun, now can I?"

She just looked at him, her sword down at her side "So, believe what you will, but my mind is set on what I wish to do" her sword then vanished at that point as did her shield.  She looked at him once more before speaking again "Now, if you'll excuse me, these fools will require some battle assistance" she told him as she turned and flew off towards Adykon and the others.

"I can't let you do that, Violet." Toby said simply. He believed that she was going to attack the defenders in Minbenthac from behind. Violet gave him absolutely no good reason to believe her. The fourth fireball, the one that had flown over her head, followed her. He wasn't going to let her get anywhere near the battle itself. Within five seconds, the fireball was almost upon her.

Toby, for his part, flew above her.

"Do as you wish, however, as much as I despise it, we are apparantly fighting the same enemy, so, it would be wise not to make enemies with those who are on the same side as you, besides, if I wanted to kill say, that minotar there" Violet said pointing to Ku'ux "I would've already done it by now"

Violet bought up another sheild of darkness in an attempt to stop the fireball, only getting knocked back by the blast as she looked up at Toby.

"You're NOT on the same side as me! No one who deals in dark magic is on my side!" Toby attacked her with a fury he had reserved for Asthia, but had never been given the opportunity to use. Opening his mouth, a long stream of flame emerged, longer than his whole body was. Although he was young, his late mother had taught him how to manipulate and shape his flame. It shaped into a fiery eagle, which flew at Violet.

Violet gave off a sigh "I don't have time for this....I have other things I wish to do" the darkness spread all over her as she let off a smirk "Ta ta for now, we shall meet again"

She was struck by the firey eagle which exploded on contact with her, smoke filling the air.  Once the smoke did clear, Violet was nowhere to be seen, she had used the power of the darkness to vanish out of the city, but to where, no one would actually know....

Both minna and Ilsa created magical shield to protect themselves from the incoming arrows " The 'skin" that protected the armies was very advanced magic, and while they had heard of such things in their studies , learning about them, and having it weilded against you was something different..
