This is just a thought I had: I've found that I'm having trouble remembering what species of dinosaur everyone else is in their dino forms. After reading through everyone's earlier posts, I think I have a good idea now, but as I can't imagine I'm the only one having this problem, I thought I'd share the list so that anyone else can look at it (if I've made any mistakes, please correct me):

Rat_lady7 – flyer
Kor – flyer (Rhamphorhynchus: Rinkus's species)
F-22 "raptor" ace – rainbow face
Cancerian Tiger – swimmer
Chronicler – fast runner
*Noname –
GVG – longneck
Belmont2500 – longneck (Brachiosaurus: Shorty's species)
jedi472 – swimmer
Emerald – sharptooth (T. rex)
Pangaea – glider (Microraptor: Guido's species)
*LBTFan13 –
Myrkin – fast biter

*no dino form seen as yet

(Rat_lady7, I was thinking that you could copy and post this list at the beginning of this thread alongside the list of LBT characters being played, so that people can go there to see it.)

Whoa, people what happened in the rp?

Eeh, I just want to say that some people are just dropping from everywhere and anywhere and ignoring other players, I don't think that's fair and it's a bit confusing in the plot.

And thanks GVG, yeah, we REALLY do need to enforce that.

It's because we are posting too much... people think Characters are in front of them when they are not... and I believe that many of us don't know where the other ones even ARE... we need to organize this somehow.

The way I do it in my RPs is that I tell the players what the "arena" is at a given part of the plot, and when it is time to move, I have them go somewhere else, and interact in that new area.

And Pangaea, I'm playing as "Thomas", Pterano, and Tria. I have no clue as to what LBT13 is playing either.

Rat_lady7, it might also help if you edit Pangea's list to have the actual names of the dinosaurs in prethises you know the () marks in case I misspelled the word

so that way we know which dinosaur each player was, Example: Belmont2500-Longneck(Brachiosaurus).

I've already posted twice, so Tria and Pterano cannot respond today...

I believe this RP is "overheating", in that we are adding too many posts too fast, and each of us has his or her own idea of what the story is, with no real guidance from the DM... so in addition to posting less, we need the DM to "cool it down", and get all the characters organized.

Okk...so right now I'm with Guido and Panagea, who are near around some place in the valley I think where some rocks are. Mr. Three Horn and Tria are talking where Mrykin was, I don't know if he's there or not...

I've been able to keep my big RP coherent for over... 290 pages. I think my way works.

And my characters have been talking to their own fair share of magically-disappearing people too. I'll admit that my handling of the situation was no better than the average at times. :blink:

Then again, I don't run the RP...

There's already a list for the LBT characters everyone is playing (OCs excluded); the list I came up with indicates the species of each RPer's "dinosona" (the dinosaur form they can optionally inhabit in the LBT world). You (along with LBTFan13) have so far played the RP exclusively in your human form, so there is no entry on the list for you. (If you do ever switch to a dino form, then you will be added to the list.)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here, but isn't that exactly what the list is doing?

If you mean scientific names, I didn't think they were needed for "basic" LBT longnecks (Apatosaurus), flyers Pteranodon, and swimmers (Saurolophus); everyone already knows what they are.

A "DM" is a "Dungeon-Master." That's the name for the person who runs and manages a role-playing game. It is a common feature of any RP game, at least, one that doesn't want to run into anarchy.

Think of it as a judge in a trial mixed with a storyteller. Since this is your RP, you would be the Dungeon Master. It means that you get to make sure the plot runs smoothly, that internal rules of the RP are obeyed, and that the posts come together to tell as coherent story, rather than being just a bunch of things people say.

I still don't understand your method of organizing the rp...and I don't know how to organize an rp because I am new to rps myself...so....I just don't know what to do and what you guys want....

No, we do turn into dinosaurs, it's just that some people don't and some people do.

Okay. You would agree that having some structure is better than letting all the posters run rampant, right? Confusion leads to lower-quality RPs, no matter how good the individual posters are.

What I did was to say "okay, now the characters are [here], and have to handle [this]." From there, the posters handled it in their own way, until it was resolved. Then, they moved on to a new location.

Also, I think what Noname means is that since it is your rp, YOU are in charge of it. If somebody is posting too much, you have the authority to tell them to slow things down to let others catch up. If you felt like the RP is getting off topic or anything, you can decide to start over or whatnot.

If you want help with the RP I can always help you out. I'm sure other will be willing to lend a hand also.

That is more or less what I mean... although I would also add that the DM ought to control the main impetus of the plot, if there is one... like a main goal that the other characters have to eventually work towards.
