The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Maybe not the only one.  Though I'm not sure if anyone else will.

Just a heads-up: a few hours ago, I made the decision to join my parents and brother in attending “family weekend” at my (other) brother’s college, which means I’ll be away from my normal computer for the weekend. I may very well have Internet access down there, but on the off-chance that I don’t, I thought I’d warn you in case I’m unable to post in the RP for a couple of days. As it is, I’m not contributing much (two of my characters being asleep and all), but nevertheless I figured I’d be missed here more than anywhere else on the GOF (though I’m probably flattering myself :p). In any case, if morning comes to the RP in the next few days and I don’t have access to the GOF, I’ll probably be late for the rock circle meeting (assuming we’re having one).

By the way, I didn’t consider this matter significant enough to post in the “Lands Unknown” section, especially since my last such announcement turned out to be a false alarm.

EDIT: Yup, just as I figured, the alert was unnecessary. (Though you were right, Kor: familial socialization has distracted me from my usual GOF activity. :p)

Thanks for telling us, have fun.

I imagine even if you do have internet access you'd be on less then usual since you'll be hanging out and having fun with your family.

Maybe someone can act a bit like Sherlock Holmes or another detective or in that sorta way if Threehorn starts spouting his usual stuff.  I'd guess accusing the new comers of letting the sharpteeth in.  Someone could make him look like a moron if done right.

^ Um...what? :confused Pardon my ignorance, but how exactly would detective work apply to such a scenario?

Maybe I'm just too much of a softy, :p but while I'm all for talking back to Mr. Threehorn, I wouldn't begrudge him his dignity (unless he did something to really, REALLY deserve it :p), though if any of the rest of you decide to do so, I won't stop you. :p

Also, seeing as I previously engaged in discourse with Mr. Threehorn, I'll probably hold back from openly formulating a case against him a second time, to give others a chance to argue with him. :p

Just if he does his typical rants on no or very flimsy evidence.  Or one take a defense attorney sort of stance and do that since his rants are often not based on facts but on his feelings and prejudice.

Well, it's REALLY hard to show someone respect when they're actin' a fool and makin' false allegations against others when they don't even have proof.  This sounds like somethin' Mr. Threehorn deserves to get talked down to for .

I was wondering. If Redclaw is after Amy and he will focus mainly on her, then the Valleyers could come up with the plan to make a trap for him, using Amy as a bait, and then try to get rid off him (it wouldn't have to be a succesfull attempt). What do you think?

yeah, and considering Redclaw's vendetta for Amy it would be kind of easy unless he notices the trap.

I wouldn’t blame anybody for losing his/her temper with Mr. Threehorn; I agree that he would definitely deserve a good talkin' down to in this scenario, :p and even I wouldn’t necessarily be polite to him (heck, I might even yell at him :P:), but I wouldn’t go out of my way to make him look bad in front of the whole Great Valley, unless that’s what it would take to make him apologize and retract whatever negative statement he had made. Anyway, that’s just what I would do, personally, not how I would expect anyone else to act. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

That could be an interesting rp if some did do that rather then ignoring him, silently supporting Grandpa Longneck or going along with what he says like most seem to do in the movies.

Which ones?  I think Flapper has, but not Grandpa Longneck, since those he's with are still awake.

so let's hurry so morning can arrive because if it doesn't the Great Valley will no longer live up to its name and would instead be called The Valley Of Darkness  :lol

Well I'm waiting for a few people to come and post.

Rebecca (Petrie's Mom) is talking to Pterano and waiting for the user's response.

And Red Claw is waiting for Thud's and Screech's responses as well. :p

So Kor, you aren't the only one waiting. :p
