The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

"I have some daggers and swords, mostly traded in as scrap. I polish off some of better ones for sale. Are you interested? They cost between two to ten gold pieces each, depending on what you buy." The vendor told the female dracon.

Meanwhile...

The copper vendor also sold brass and bronze. This merchant was not as tolerant as the last one...

"Hmph. I've got some for you, mammal, but I'm saving the finest for my OWN kind. You can have some of this if your money is good... I've heard bad things about hairy creatures... you all cut your coins with lesser metals!" The vendor told Torvin. This red dracon had piercing red eyes, long silver horns with unusually sharp ends (he filed them), and the clothing typical of a metalworker...

However, someone more tolerant than himself had heard his little speech...

She sighed to herself. Times were tough for copper salesmen; there was a glut of supply, and the market was depressed, especially since weapons were now almost exclusively made of ferrous or magical metals, and the market for bronzeware was losing out to clay pots and iron tools. In times like this, people looked for a scapegoat, and foreigners were very convenient, especially one with iron and steel loaded on his draft animal... he was "foreign competition" in the vendor's eyes.

Upon hearing the Dracon's words, Shal'thzar felt around in her small pouch to see if she had any coins for a weapon. She took a few peaces out and placed them on the counter infront of the Dracon Vendor, hoping that they were gold coins(Which they were) "Hopefully those are gold coins, as i cannot tell because i am blind and hopefully that's the right amount of coins.. Im looking for a curved blade, one that isn't heavy but can still prove userfull when times are dire. Going to go off to adventure soon, hopefully come back with more plunder." Shal'thzar said with a laugh.

"I've got one for you, right here" the vendor said, pulling out a scimitar.

"And you have given me a bit more than enough for it. The total cost was 15 gold pieces." he added, pushing some coins back into her hands.

OOC: Going to hop into the world of sleep, ye be warned.

"Whoops. Sorry about that." Shal'thzar said with a smile. Shal'thzar picked up the scimiter and felt it. "Indeed, this is a fine blade. Easy to handle too!" Shal'thzar said with a nod.

"Be careful with that thing! Since you are blind... well, I hope you know who you're swinging it at, my lady!" the vendor said, scared.

"Look, I'm here just to buy bronze and copper. I am not here for an argument. Now if you don't mind, may I have 150 pounds of raw copper as well as 25 pounds each of brass and bronze?" Torvin said, a hint of anger in his voice.

"Torv, what is taking so long?" the draft animal asked.

The vendor got the metal out. "Here. I have only 50 pounds of copper for you, mammal."

"Varanus! Are you giving other races a hard time again?" A female voice called out. Stepping out of the shadows came a female with orange skin (a very rare shade for a dracon), shiny white teeth, and a pale white belly. She had golden colored eyes, and for a female dracon, was unusually beautiful. Wearing yellow cloth on her top and loins, she came forward.

"Pogona... I was just... (sigh) you are right... I shouldn't be throwing away a good sale, especially with you in your... condition. We need the money for the child, and chasing off customers isn't good for business anyway..."

Turning to Torvin, Varanus the vendor spoke.

"Alright. I'll get you your metal."

Pogona returned to the inner room, where she was resting. She worked with her husband, but liked to take a nap during her break. She lay down on the straw mat and resumed her rest.

"Do not worry, i shall use this with caution." Shal'thzar said to the Dracon Vendor. She went to sheath her new weapon, but remembered something.. "Does this sword happen to have a sheath to go with it? If so, then i would like to buy one as well. If not, would you happen to know who sells sheaths?" Shal'thzar said with another smile.

"Sheaths aren't my specialty... but I have one for this kind of sword anyway" the vendor said. "Since you are blind and... well... it is probably safer for you to have this" he added, pulling out a sheath. "It doesn't fit my other weapons... so, you may have it for free."

"Really? Okay." Shal'thzar said, taking the sheath and sheathing her new sword. "Thank you again." Shal'thzar added in with a smile.

Shal'thzar left the shop with her new weapon and sheath. She knew she was poor and there would probably be no one to hire her due to her being blind, and so the only way was to explore the outside world and hopefully find some gold or something to sell for gold.

And so, Shal'thzar traveled through the city and to the city gates, and departed..

OOC: This wont be the last time Shal'thzar is seen, nope. She will return, hopefully with a little bit more gold :p

(OOC: You can have her interact with any character at almost any time, you know. Shal'thzar and any other character you have are always welcome!)

Meanwhile...

Kria looked over her books... she was going through with it tomorrow. They had moved the ritual up, now that the cult leader had prepared the altar far ahead of time... turns out the oils needed to anoint the stone were found much quicker than they had anticipated... soon, Kria would have her magical powers... and much more than she had bargained for.

She quickly put the books down and got back to serving the customers. The young female could not afford to let herself get distracted during work.

Shiana eyed the young Dracon's lack of enthusiasm curiously before pushing her 45 gold pieces forward and took back her quiver, now enchanted with magic.  "The gold pieces was for the quiver and arrows your mother enchanted.  Tell her I said thanks."

The trio made their way back out of the shop, stopping long enough for the Half-Elf to strap her quiver back on.

"So, what's next?"

"We'll probably have to stop back at this place to buy some of those glowing stones before tonight," Halo replied.  "But, we can look around again to see what we'll need."

(OOC:  Sorry for the late response.  This was before Noname's last post with Kria.)

(OOC: That's fine.)

Kria collected the money and went back to serving the customers. People of all sorts were coming to buy magical goods for gods-know-what purposes. At least the buyers paid well; many people who sought magical goods at better prices went to the city's magic marketplace in the street. Of course, the expression "you get what you pay for" was all too true... many of their items had little charge in some of the seedier marketplaces, and it was generally a brick-and-mortar place that had the good stuff... which came with a price, but it was of dependable quality...

Although so many items were so... vain... rings that increased one's strength, potions that got rid of wrinkles, magical claw polish that lasted a whole year, dragon musk perfume...

Meanwhile...

Kria left her post at the counter, as her mother had woken up and was ready to work again. Taking her books upstairs, her claws clacking against the wooden floor, she lay down on her bed and began to read about the creatures she would be dealing with soon...

At the same time, Kos arrived at his house with the letter from his school... he sought out one of his parents, and gave them the letter...

Torvin accepted the metal and paid the vendor.

"We almost done yet?" the draft animal asked as Torvin loaded the metal.

"Almost just got to make a quick stop to the precious metals stall." Torvin replied.

He then headed to the precious metals stall. "Greetings. What is there for sale?"

The vendor here was another male... dressed in a fine cloak of green silk. "Greetings. I have gold and silver at this stall, but only in limited quantities. I am limited to a pound of the former and five pounds of the latter per customer at most."

"I only require 8 ounces of gold and 2 pounds of silver." Torvin replied.

"Torv, shouldn't you stock up?" the draft animal replied.

"No. This is enough to last me a while."

"I'll get it all right now" the vendor said, going to a back room behind a locked door. A minute later, he returned with the metal. "Let me weigh the gold and give you the price for it... 40 gold pieces for the gold, and 10 gold pieces for the silver... the total is 50 gold for the metals."

Torvin paid the vendor. "Thank you." He accepted the metals, loaded them onto the wagon and buried the precious metals under the ordinary metals.

"Where to now?" the draft animal replied.

"I'd just like to go to a tavern." Torvin replied.
