The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Hola. Welcome to the GoF. Forgive my "Spanglish", Dante. It has been a while since I had to speak it. Maybe you can talk to Chiletrek, and he might be able to show you around by explaining things to you "en espanol."

Welcome with us Dante :)
It is always a pleasure to welcome new members to our community (which was founded back in September 2004 and had several predecessor boards). Don't worry too much about your English. Though English is the language of this board, we are a very international community and many of us are no native speakers (my own native tongue would be German).
Are you interested in medieval literature, or Dante in particular, or did you pick the name by chance? Do you have any hobbies?

Salve! (That would be Latin...I just wanted to be part of the foreign-language speaking XD .)
Welcome to our forum.
I hope you come to understand English better. Hopefully, you'll learn enough from many of us English speakers.

Heh. Malte speaks of Dante's "Divine Comedy". Good stuff, even though I just read The Inferno.

btw, you say the 'v' as a 'w'. There was no such thing as 'v' in the Latin language...or 'j' or 'k'.

Petrie.

Welcome to the GOF! :wave

If you didn't read the link Mumbling posted, we were founded in 2003, and have been here on this board system since 2004.

Just a minor footnote here; the Divine Comedy was originally written in Italian, not Latin. Since only comedies in those days could be written in the vernacular, the otherwise serious piece was termed a "Comedy."

Either way, we are all happy to see you!

Sorry. Late again. :oops

Welcome to The Gang Of Five! :DD :smile

On the subject of languages, my screen name is Ancient Greek (the second part, “gÊa”, is Latinized), but I can’t speak anything but English. :wacko
