The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Project Natal

Microsoft's gaming division is making a brand new innovative product currently codenamed Project Natal.

From the following video, make your judgment.

I feel this will make the XBox 360 just kill the PS3 in the end.  Do I feel this will help it beat the Wii?  Hell no!  The Little White Machine that could is currently SO far ahead, any of the others catching up would be a miracle in of itself.  Even though we're probably only half way through the war, I'd say Nintendo is the definite winner this generation. (That and the fact that it has been known that add-ons never really make the big amount of shift that is required for the console at hand to win.)

Anyways, this is the type of gaming technology I've been dreaming of.  You are the game player and the controller.  It's almost like the futuristic Virtual Reality that we saw on cartoons when I was a kid.  It's looking pretty sweet.

I'm definitely looking forward to this thing.  I can already see the possibilities that can come from it. :)

I doubt Project Natal will kill the Playstation 3. It'll just make the competition more interesting in my opinion. Not to mention I don't participate in the so-called "console war" as I don't see one console being "superior" to another. I just see games and I play the games based on what I like; I don't play a game for the console.

The reason I say that I doubt Project Natal will be the downfall for PS3 is for 2 reasons.

1. Sony may come up with a similar device for Playstation 3 in the near future. The Wii may also come up with a similar device as well. If not for the current consoles, perhaps for the next generation consoles. But I feel this depends on how popular Project Natal actually gets. It might succeed; it might flunk. Who knows?

and

2. There are likely to be gamers who prefer a controller over Project Natal, myself included. While I admit it's an impressive piece of technology, I see nothing wrong with using a controller or remote control to do the same stuff. I like to sit on the couch and play a game with a controller, not stand up and making a fool out of myself playing with Project Natal.

If Playstation 3 is "killed" at some point, I think it will be due to other factors than Project Natal. Again it is impressive and I did like the clip I first saw of it. But it's hard to say exactly how well it will do. It could do great or it could do horribly. There's no telling until the time comes for it to be released. Remember Virtual Boy? People were hyped up about that if I recall correctly, and when it was finally released, it wasn't the console they were hoping it would be. Project Natal could turn out the same way.

Oh screw this crap.  I like having an actual contoler.  I don't really care for the notion of virtual reality either.  I like traditional gaming.  Besides, How would you play a FPS on this thing without physically walking around?

I couldn't agree with you more. I say stick with the controllers, because that's the way console gaming ALWAYS has been. ;)

Besides, it's more fun to mash buttons on fighting games, than to act like you're pretending to have a Kung-Fu practice with your (invisible) martial arts teacher... XD
Who knows, maybe if people aren't careful either, they might as well kick their TV sets out of the window by accident. :lol

Technology is really moving in the wrong direction.  Touch screens and this crap is NOT what people want.  Sure it's cool and such, but just because you can make something doesn't mean it's better than what's already out there.  Besides, who the heck wants to have to do this in order to play a game?  A game is supposed to be a good way to chill, not a workout. Touch screens are crap.  They'll never replace a keyboard.  The same story goes for this kind of stuff.  Controllers beat the crap out of this.

I don't really hate touch screens but I still prefer a keyboard and mouse. Whether or not touch screens will be dominate in the future, who knows? Maybe they will be, or maybe we'll still use a mouse and keyboard.
