Out of time and place

Cleve followed not far behind Deimos, using his walking stick to check the ground in front of him. The trail was a little slippery and tricky, but it wasn't anything that Cleve couldn't handle.

(OCC: I'll be leaving for a few days, so can someone take my place?)

Deimos arrived at the campsite to see that James was already stoking the fire.

"So what did I miss?" James asked, failing to stifle a yawn.

"A dazzling view of the Great Valley," Deimos replied, sitting on a log.

"So how's about we go to sleep for now?"

"That sounds good," frank said. "I think we should have at least one person stay awake to keep an eye out."

"I guess I'll keep watch for first. I'll wake you guys up if I see anything." Cleve said. His idea of patrolling was walking in circles around the camp and checking for any possible signs of trouble.

"Alright I'll take over in 4 hours good night." frank said. Frank fell asleep with one of the machine guns beside him.

"I'll stay up too," Deimos said. He was holding his stone knife at the ready. He then turned to Cleve. "Sp Cleve, why do you guys think you're here?" he asked.

James went inside his SUV, leaned the shotgun in the passenger seat, and fell asleep in the driver's seat.

At this time, the fire was down to embers and the moon bathed everything in a white glow.

"I can take a watch if anyone wants." Dan said before he went to get ready to go to bed.

Dan got out his blanket that he had folded and kept in his car and set it on the ground, folded and then lay on it and soon went to sleep.

"I really don't know," Cleve responded, "But, I say that we take advantage of this and educate Matt about the upcoming battles so that we can win them."

Cleve took out his pistol and armed it, just in case of an attack.

(OCC: I'm leaving like right now, and I haven't found anyone who can take over my role yet, so feel free to use Cleve, everyone)

Frank was dreaming of things that he'd seen in the war. He suddenly woke up breathing heavily his eyes wide open in stark terror. He thought back to what his father had told him what seemed to be 100 years ago but was in fact 5 years ago.

Cleve was walking in circles around camp and explaining WWII, or as much as he knew, to Deimos. "And then there was a guy called Hitler, who hated the Jews. He takes over Germany and..."

Suddenly, Cleve noticed Frank's terrified face. "What's wrong?" Cleve asked.

Deimos's face grew stony. "Hatred...It runs across time," he said. He then noticed Frank's terrified expression. "Cleve, you tend to Frank, I'll keep watch."

Frank looked at cleve "I'm just having a nightmare from one of the many things I've seen," Frank said. Frank was silent for a moment before he continued. "A crash at the air base i was assigned to in England the pilot became trapped in his plane after he crash landed his plane it burst into flame and...well..." frank said. The look in his eyes said that the pilot did survive the crash but died in the flames.

"The war has be tough on many of us," Cleve responded, too disturbed to look directly at Frank, "Before I was transferred onto the Eldridge, I served on the USS Patterson. We participated in the Battle of Savo Island. We were the first ones to stumble upon the Japanese column. We went to full speed and fired our guns, damaging a Japanese cruiser. Then, someone fired a shell at us. It destroyed the stern and killed 10 people. I'm just glad I survived..."

Cleve decided against describing the carnage that occurred. The memories were already disturbing him.

"We've all seen carnage of one sort of another," Cleve continued, "Just be glad that you've still alive." Cleve patted Frank on the back. "Come to think of it, if it wasn't for this weird incident, I'd be dead right now."

"Yeah I saw footage of it in the theaters when I was got home from the pacific in mid 42 just after the USS North Carolina came into Pearl," frank said. "I agree that we've all been through horrible experiences."

"Sure," Cleve said with a smile, "I used to be a radio operator in the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. We had the first ground-to-air radio control system, and I was sure proud of my job."

Cleve smiled, remembering those days. "I thought that joining the Navy would be more fun, and I wanted to get the opportunity to see the world. I joined in 1941, not long before the Pearl Harbor Attack. I never expected things to be so tough."
