In Cleve's dreams, he was standing in the ruins of a futuristic city in somewhere in Germany. He could tell that the city was German from the names on the broken signs around him. Although it was Germany, there were no swastikas or any nazi propaganda in sight. However, what Cleve did notice was a group of soldiers and big tanks firing at something in the distance. The tanks didn't look like anything American, German, British, or Russian. It was larger than any tank Cleve has ever seen, and it carried a huge gun or its size. The soldiers were shouting in English and busy firing hand-held machine guns at something.
Cleve ran up to the group of soldiers and dove in behind a low breastwork. Mortar fire fell all around them. "What's happening?" Cleve demanded.
"The Soviets have declared war on us," a soldier said in English.
"Grab a gun and fight, lieutenant," yelled a commander with a British accent. The soldier threw Cleve a gun. It felt especially light for its size, but it didn't matter. Cleve dove next to the soldier and took cover behind some breastworks. The soldier next to him was shooting wildly at something.
"What are you doing?!" the soldier yelled, "Open fire."
Cleve looked over the breastworks. There were about twenty huge planes dropping paratroopers. The planes were larger than all American bombers, including the B-17, and they flew at amazing speeds.
"Open fire!" the soldier yelled again.
Cleve shot the gun at one of the planes, but to no avail. It wasn't long before a rocket-like projectile hit one of the planes and exploded it in a ball of flame.
"Look out!" someone screamed. Cleve instinctively looked around and saw two planes headed for him at unbelievable speeds. Based on the speed, Cleve could tell that they were probably both jet-powered or rocket-powered. One of them dropped a bomb on Cleve's position. Cleve could only watch as the bomb fell towards him.
"AHHH" Cleve woke with a sweat on his face. He suddenly realized that it was only a dream, and he was still in the Great Valley. Noting that he might have disturbed some people nearby, he applogized, "Sorry, just a bad dream."
