Frank exited the protal and landed next to James. Frank took a look around at the buildings around them. "Should we split up to look for Deimos?" Frank asked James.

Dan held onto one rope while Spike Petrie and Ducky held onto another rope to be sure to try to help those on the other end.

"I hope they find him quickly." Dan said.

"I do so too, I do I do. Deimos may be lost or scared or something." Ducky said.

"Me scarded for him and me still here." Petrie said.

"Don't worry guys," Ruby comforted, "Deimos is a grown-up. He has grown up a lot, and he can take care of himself."

Cleve wasn't nearly as confident. He barely escaped with his own life after he fell into the portal in the cave. Cleve was lucky and was familiar with ships, battles, and the 20th century. Deimos was not.

James looked around and noticed that he was standing on a city street. "No, this looks like a big city. If we get lost we may never be able to find each other again. But what city is this?"

He then looked at his waist. There was no rope. He gasped. "The rope! It's... It's gone!"

Deimos awoke in the clump of shrubs feeling thirsty. He headed out of the shrubs and started searching for a lake or a river.

"Though his growing up as been here. What if he's in some strange place where his experience may not be very useful." Dan said, not having any idea where Deimos and the others were.

"My rope is also gone," Frank said. Frank was silent for a moment before turning to James. "Should we head off to look for deimos or stay here?"

Dan nodded, "It does. I wonder if that means the rope isn't around them anymore." he said.

"I hope it does not, I do , I do." Ducky said.

Deimos finally found a lake. Unbeknownst to him, he was drinking out of the lake at Central Park.

"Damn it. It's so cold compared to the Great Valley," he said. "And this water tastes disgusting."

James looked around the darkened streets. A newspaper blew against his foot and he picked it up.

"Hey! We're in New York City, in my time - 2011!" he exclaimed, reading it by the streetlight. "In any case, we should move together. I think Deimos may have used his nose to try and find something like a park."

Cleve pulled in his rope. To his horror, there was only an empty loop at the end of the rope.

"What do we do now?" Cleve asked.

"We could just wait here until they get back," littlefoot said.

Deimos found a fire that a homeless person had started in a garbage can. After setting a small branch on fire, he carried it to small campfire that he built on a concrete sidewalk.

He then sat by the fire and warmed himself up. A small pile of wood he scavenged was nearby.

He then thought a moment. "Wait, I think we might be close to Central Park. I think Deimos may be there because it's most like the Great Valley!"

He then took out a flashlight and looked at the street signs. "Ugh, but I can't tell which way to go!"

"I guess we can wait a while for them to find Deimos and come back. If they don't after a while then some of us can go through, maybe with someone with a great sense of smell who can use their sense of smell to find the others. Perhaps marking where the portal is. If it stays in the same place." Dan said.

James nodded. "But New York City has changed a lot in sixty years. But I think Central Park should be the same."

Deimos knocked over a garbage can and dug through the trash for food. He preferred fresh meat but he was not above scavenging.

He found a half-eaten hamburger and ate it. He swallowed it, ignoring the strange texture of the cooked meat.

He then picked up some wood that he scavenged and returned to his campsite.

"Damn it, how do I get back? James and the others will be worried about me," he muttered as he tossed some wood into the campfire and warmed up next to it.

"I'd rather wait a while. Going in is pretty dangerous," Cleve commented, "But if they don't come back by dawn, I'm going in."

Dan nodded, "That should be long enough. We can discuss then about more plans, if the need arises. They may be back well before dawn." Dan said hoping what he said was true.

"I hope so too, I do, I do. I am worrieded." Ducky said looking up with concern in her voice.

"Me also worrieded. me hope they ok." Petrie said with some sadness in his voice.

Frank walked looking around at the new york of the future. Frank breathed in the city air and continued walking. "Hey James you keeping up with me?" frank asked.
