"The portal vanished," Deimos said, picking up his skewer and rack and sticking them in James's pack.
James thought a moment. "Maybe it's in an abandoned building."
Suddenly, his eyes caught a flash of blue light from the window of what appeared to be a derelict restraunt across the street. "There!"
He and Deimos then ran as fast as possible to the restruant.
When they arrived, they found that the door was boarded up.
Deimos threw himself through the door, which was not designed to take the impact of a 1,000 pound plus animal. The door literally exploded into splinters as Deimos crashed through it.
"Thanks! Owe you one!" James said running through the ruined door with shotgun in hand.
"No problem," Deimos said, picking himself off the ground. He winced from the pain of the blow. He entered after James.
Deimos then sniffed the air. He could smell rancid food. "This place smells. But I think we should split up. And since this is your time, let's take a few supplies with us."
James heard the sirens. "If we have time. I'll take this room."
"I'll take the back of the cave," Deimos said. He threw himself through the boarded up doors that led to the kitchen. Again, the doors splintered under his massive body.
