Cleve also fired at the Domehead Frank was shooting at. The rifle was a lot easier to aim than his pistol, but the bullets seemed to be deflecting right off the skin of the Domehead.
"This is not working," Cleve complained, "Frank, be careful! You're not a match for..."
Suddenly, Cleve noticed a Domehead charging at him from behind. This one must have just arrived, because it was not there the first time Cleve saw James's captors. Cleve turned around and shot at it, but the bullets were literately bouncing right off his body. Cleve stumbled back, but the distance between them was closing, and Cleve, unlike Frank, had no weapon for close combat.
"Leave him alone, Domehead," Ruby said, throwing the piece of wood at his feet. The Domehead tripped on the piece of wood and fell to the ground. "Looks like the handy firewood came in handy," Ruby said, "But there's no time to lose. The Domeheads here are vicious. Hurry and free James."
Cleve threw his loaded rifle at Frank, who was ran out of ammunition. It fell to the ground next to Frank. Cleve got out his Colt pistol, which was a lot lighter, and dashed towards James.
