Taking a pot shot at the fans, eh? And you want to know what irks me. Someone who lets how other people react to something color their own perception of it, such as you getting turned off the show by it. I would sooner die than allow my opinions to be altered by outside stimulus like that.
So we bronies are obnoxious, eh? Well, I can say the same of the number of Land Before Time fans. And Trekkies. And Potter fans. And Star Wars fans. And Ringers.
Look, the reason this became an internet phenomenon is because it struck a chord with people. It's alright that it didn't strike a chord with you, but don't knock the fans!

I did not say every Bronie is like that, WR. I just get annoyed by any members of any possible fandom who take it way too seriously, I even have problems like this in fandoms I'm big into to.

And yes, I know the "assimilated" thing is just a joke, but I just think there is such a thing as running a joke into the ground.

ok, ok, we're not going to have a flame war here. so lets keep things civil here. brek doesn't have to like MLP, nor should the spamming and other arguments that often occurs on Youtube videos influence this discussion of the series. Nrek was merely pointing out how overprotective the fans of the show can be, but again thats true of any tv show or video game seeries. Prime example would be the Spyro franchise, in particular the divide between the fans of the insomniac games and Legend of Spyro series. Lets keep this from getting personal, or I will lock this thread.

Alright, but this fandom has put up with more than most fandoms have to. That's the core reason alot of us very protective and in-your-face in the case of FiM. Having every pony-related item wiped off the face of a site whether it be YouTube or ponybuuro and whatnot just because some jerk doesn't like it can do things to people.
It's like how Avatar: The Last AirBender fans are very touchy about that show. Well, after it was put in infinite hiatus in favor of freaking Spongebob, of all things, I can't blame them.

I don't ask that Brek share my fandom. Just understand that some of the pony-related works on the net as well as fan attitudes have some motive going into them in our case, alright, Brek? So why the overprotectivebess for MLP, and the disdain for Sony? I understand people like what they like, and dislike what they dislike, but there is a disconnect here..

The problem that I have with the "assimilation" joke is that it tends to drag on outside of MLP sources. When I go to some furry site or whatever and I see it, it tends to get annoying seeing everyone take it as some kind of looming threat or virus. Personally, I don't find it cute because I watched the show and I didn't like it. I don't hate the show or anyone who likes it. I hate the joke, just like how others could hate the cake joke from portal or the whole "The game" thing like when it was being mentioned at a birthday party I went to

Chances are it will be released, and I'm willing to bet it will have a fair number of special features, maybe even episode commentaries, which many cartoons on tv don't get.
