nani climbed aboard the craft , she had volunteered to help in the search , Lilo was going to be cared for by Shaggy, who was relieved not to be going on any more adventures.

ratchet piloted Aphelion over a piece of Skylands that was thick with jungle. ' readings indicate very high magical output shields activated' Aphelion said. 'just keep scanning for the planes signal' Angela said as she typed away on clanks holonet computer.. 'i have already mapped 32 percent of Skylands territory ' Aphelion replied ' hat just means theres 68 percent you havent.' Ratchet replied.

i'd ask around the town Fox said. meanwhile the lions decided to go for a swim in the hotel pool, which was about the size of a football field. there was water basketball for the guys, a hot tub for couples, and floating chairs for the ladies. Kovu jumped in and swam over to the basketball ' Anyone wanna play horse?' he grinned.

Sara was flying along with Jason in his Imperial Dragon body, they were looking for the missing planes.

"I was thinking, it may be good, and maybe fun to teach Dulcy and Samia how to act like upper class. They may find it fun." Sara said.

"Sounds good, if they are willing. Time will tell if they have a knack for it or not. Never can tell where it may lead to." Jason said. They were enjoying the flight, though focused on looking for the missing planes.

Elsewhere Gallantmon, riding on Grani, was flying along with Blackwargreymon who was carrying Joe and Gamamon.

""I don't see why we're along." Joe said.

"it's good to get out instead of being cooped up inside all day." Gomamon said. "You need to get out and to relax more too."

"Your skin does look a bit pale." Blackwargreymon said.

"A bit of tanning couldn't hurt." Gomamon said.

"But my skin will wrinkle. I may get skin cacncer." Joe said.

"ANd various health problems if you remain inside to much." Gallantmon said.

Dr. Kerzach got up from his seat and made his way to the kitchen with Nick following. There, he met the two chefs.

"Ah, are you here to assist?" she asked as she wiped down the countertop.

The Cassowary nodded. "Yes."

"Excellent! You can start by getting catfish from the farm. We're having catfish patties for dinner tonight."

(En Route to the Quicksilver Vault)

Drobot accompanied the shuttles and Aphelion to the Quicksilver Vault.

"So do you think we can simply haul the two planes up or do you think someone or something got to them first?" Deimos asked.

"Best case scenario, the skyland is uninhabited and we can just haul them up. Worst case, they're hostages."

(Quicksilver Vault)

A group of armored figures clustered around the inert forms of Rainbow and Major Lockie.

"What are they?" one of them asked.

"Strange machines. Much like our own war machines." The hiss of a magi-cutter flaring to life echoed around the chamber.

"No, we first do external examinations."

Little did they know that the planes' transponders were still transmitting.

The shuttle rocked as a bolt of magic smashed into the shield. "Damn it! We're taking fire!"

"Should have kept some of the weapons on." Deimos checked his weapons once again. "All right everyone, check your weapons and gear!"

Ms. Swimmer examined her enchanted jewelry for cracks or defects. Captain Carson checked over her basic uniform (the exotic AI controlled uniform she usually wore with its numerous gadgets was too sensitive to intense magical fields for this) and rifle. A few grenades were clipped to her chest.

Mr. Bigmouth went over every inch of his anti-radiation suit. Muffled swears were heard as another impact rocked the shuttle.

Drobot watched as blue bolts of mana lanced out from the Quicksilver Vault's defensive turrets. He lit his afterburners and flew in close to them, strafing them with bursts from his laser cannons .

Nani Checked her gun, as the shuttle was hit ahgain..'
outside wargreymoin used his nova blast attack on the defenses. waregreywomon led some of the defenses turrets fire away from the shuttle.
the rest of the omniderate on board activated thier armor, waiting for the shuiuttle to land.

The combination of assaults quickly slagged the defensive turrets and the shuttles made it through without incident.

A gentle bump and the shuttles landed.

"Go! Go! Go!" Captain Carson barked.

Deimos, Mr. Bigmouth, Ms. Swimmer and the other crewmembers hustled out of the shuttle. The other, larger, shuttle landed and also opened its doors. Two of the machine gun armed dune buggies rolled out along with a large repulsorsled to handle Rainbow (Major Lockie was far too large to fit on one – he'd have to be airlifted out by teams of shielded shuttles).

"All right everyone! Hop aboard!" a crewman shouted.

Dr. Zanasiu and Captain Carson made a beeline for one of the dune buggies.

Mr. Bigmouth, Deimos and Ms. Swimmer made their way to the repulsorsled.

"Strange, the ground is metallic but warm," Ms. Swimmer said.

Stitch Tiger and Tigeress and the two Spyros followed after the others. Nani had her gun out and was ready to fire at a moments notice.
Spire of Winter.
Scooby ad Dixie meanwhile were helping Shaggy watch Lilo, who was leading them and Angel around town..Nani had pressed them into watching Lilo at the last minute, so they had stayed instead. ' thanks for watching me for nani" she said in a friendly sort " not at all Lilo, we've been throuugh a lot together. " Yeah like kicking Chong's evil butt and freeing all those ghosts at the hotel..Lilo smiled. ' Can we get icre cream? She asked ' Sure " scooby smiled " we'll see what flaviors they have ' Scooby remember you have a 4 scoop limit " dixie said.

Sara swooped out of the sky, providing firepower to distract the enemy & provide cover fire so the others can get away, hopefully. Jason dropped some cryo grenades (a combination of magic & technology) that when they exploded stopped all molecular movement in the area of effect, gradually warming up over time.

Gallantmon, riding Grani, Blackagumon carrying Joe & Gomamon came through a hushtube, a quiet version of a boom tube adding their fire power. Gomamon jumping off his his back so he could warp digivolve. His increased size allowing him to easily land with no more difficulty then a human landing from a foot above the ground.

The group was soon confronted by a large gate about a kilometer away. Drobot fired a volley of lasers at only to see them harmlessly splash against the door. "Attention! The door is shielded!"

"Great," Deimos said as he got out from the dune buggy and retrieved a huge rocket launcher. This was the so-called "demolition bazooka", it fired an eighty pound high-explosive rocket. Thanks to its great weight and size as well as its unguided projectile and the fact that the launcher had very crude sights rendered it nearly useless as a weapon. It wasn't intended to be used against anything smaller and more mobile than a building.

He shouldered the massive weapon, checked that his back was clear and fired at the gate. The roar of the rocket leaving its launcher was dampened by his suit and helmet. As soon as the rocket was fired, he returned it to the storage rack at the rear of the vehicle. He'd reload it later.

the rocket impacted against the gate setting off streams of blinding magical energy.. the impact frfrom the rocket had damaged the gate, wiut pieces of it missing and debrism, molte n from the impaxct falling to the ground. ' thats one strong magical shield' tigeress said if that bbig thing hardly put a dent intioo it.' attack it now! tiger said as wargreympon opened fire hhitting the gae with magic. the blast has stripped away much of the magic protecting the shield, and more pieces of the gates begab to collapse. Nani opened fire, but her bullets were flattened by the magic protecting the gate.

Captain Carson sighed as she looked at the gate. Pieces of it were missing but it still held strong. "Everyone back to the shuttles! I'll call fire control and have them turn the Spire's main gun on one of the walls instead."

Mr. Bigmouth looked at Captain Carson. "You mean the cannon that throws a thirty ton iron slug at speeds rivaling a meteor?"

She nodded. "If that doesn't work, we'll use the mining laser on it."

The drivers of the vehicles wheeled around and made their way towards the shuttles.

Jason and the others with him circled around a short distance from the gate. "Ok, let's continue to provide cover fire till they are done and can get the shuttles out." Jason said.

"Good idea." Guilmon said.

"We can keep the enemies busy, I hope." Sara said, "To busy to attack the other group."

"Or at least as many as we can." Blackwargreymon said.

The others kept a short distance from each other, in the air, providing as much cover as they can so, hopefully, enemies could not easily got past or through them so the groups at the gates could focus more easily on doing what they needed to do.

The mercs left, walking away from whatever planet the ship happened to be on at the moment.

"All in men," nodded the Soldier proudly. "We came, we kicked ass, we left."

"Guten tag!" Medic called back.

Pyro flicked his fingers and made a salutatory firework display.

And with that the ten mercenaries marched off into the sunset.

(Skylands)

The shuttles lifted into the sky and hovered over the gap between the skylands.

Captain Carson opened a communications link. "Spire of Winter Fire Control, this is Captain Carson, we need a bombardment from the main gun at this designated spot." On the console, a light blinked on a visual representation of the ruined gate. It had been painted by an invisible laser from the shuttle.

"Acknowledged. Over."

"Thank you. Captain Carson out." She put the handset back in its proper place. "Now we watch the fireworks."

(RICMS Spire of Winter)

The main gun's capacitors were already charged (and had been for the past several days). The ventral railgun's massive thirty ton slug was already in place (as it had always beensince they started this trip).

The ship lurched slightly as it rose into the air and ever slowly began to turn around using the manuevering thrusters mounted almost everywhere on the ship.

"We have a lock on the target," the Vulpine gunner said as she slowly adjusted the ship to perfectly line up with the designated target.

"Capaciters are fully charged," another technician, this one a Human, said.

The Vulpine nodded. "All systems go. And firing in five...four..."

When the countdown ended, she flipped open a molly-guard and pressed the red button. The entire ship shuddered and rocked as the massive railgun fired.

Dr. Kerzach fought to keep himself from dropping several dishes as the ship began to shake. "How the hell do we get earthquakes in space!?"

(Skylands)

"Holy s---!" Deimos shouted as a trail of fire preceeded by an elongated flaming projectile sped on a downward trajectory, aimed right at the gate they had tried to destroy. A loud boom was heard and the shuttle wavered as the sonic boom slammed into it.

The railgun projectile was moving so fast that it compressed the air in front of it so much that it actually began to glow like a flame.

Ms. Swimmer stared at it. "It's like that Stone of Cold Fire I saw at the Great Valley but much faster."

"It's like dropping a meteor on your target," Mr. Bigmouth whispered.

Wargreymon, Wargreywomon, Tiger and Tigeress watched from the safetyu of the shuttles " they were stunned by the firepower of the ship.
dulcy and samia were watching the goings on from the logistics station, as were tiger and kitty who had gotten subs for the logistics workers

The windows of the shuttle automatically dimmed as the projectile slammed into the metal gate, converting its massive amount of kinetic energy into heat and light. When windows became transparent again, all that remained of the gate was an enormous crater, scattered shards of smoldering metal and concrete as well as some hunks of vitrified soil raining down to the ground and a mushroom cloud slowly wafting into the sky.

"Was that a nuclear explosive?" Deimos asked.

"Nope. Any explosion large enough will create a mushroom cloud," Mr. Bigmouth said.

"Hey, the shield isn't down yet?" Dr. Zanasiu exclaimed, looking over the pilot's shoulder.

Captain Carson cursed. "Fire control! Bring mining laser to bear on previous target! Captain Carson out."

The windows dimmed as the immensely powerful beam slammed into the barrier, resulting in a flash rivaling that of the Sun itself.

"It's still there!" the pilot said.

"F--- it! Fly ahead!" Captain Carson barked.

The shuttle did so and as soon as it crossed over the smoking crater, it suddenly reappeared on the outside of the Quicksilver Vault complex. The pilot tried again, only to have the same thing happen.

Captain Carson radioed Stripetail. "Stripetail, the complex is protected by some sort of teleportation field and a powerful shield that we can't seem to breach."
