Random Role Play / Rise of the Riders

Prologue:  A new beginning

It has been some months since Galbatorix fell, and since Eragon and Saphira founded a new order of Riders.  Sending out messengers to the four corners of the world, the pair of them have begun to rebuild an ancient tradition...

Moritsune stood up, running a hand through his hair and smiling as he looked out the window of his room.  It had been but a few months since he had come to the Island where Eragon and his dragon partner Saphira had begun training new riders.  With a soft chuckle, he opened the window, and the black-scaled head of his dragon partner Dynames poked in.

"Good Morning, Moritsuna."

She purred in his mind...

So, I was just perusing potential ideas, and decided that I wanted to start an Inheritance Saga RP.  It'd be set after the books, and would deal in the founding, training, and general creation of a new order of Dragon Riders.  Anyone interested?

Role Play Discussion / World of Furry
« on: March 10, 2013, 03:54:45 PM »
Well, I just had a flash of inspiration, and decided to try my hand at making another RP!

It's the year 2013, a world much like our own.  With only one major difference.  Anthropomorphic animals, colloquially known as "Furries", exist alongside humans, living just like any other.  However, within the group of Furries, there are many subsects, ranging from bestial to near-human.  This is the story of that world...

Types of Furries (common reference names in parens):

Kemono (=Species name=-Morph ((Ex: Wolf-morph, Dragon-morph, etc)))
By far the most human of the "Furries," they resemble average humans, save for small animalian traits, such as ears or tails.  They are physically similar to humans, though their abilities vary dependent on the parts that are animalistic.

Anthros ( =Species name=-Pronouns ((Ex: Wolf-man, Bunny-boy, Cat-girl, etc)))
The second most human branch of the "Furries," they resemble a fully-anthropomorphic version of their species, and possess no overly-specialized abilities outside of their innate species-based abilities, such as enhanced speed for bunny- or cheetah- types, etc.

Weres ( Were-=Species Name= ((Ex: Werewolf, Weredog, Werechimera, etc)))
In their normal state, weres resemble perfectly normal humans, save for occasional mutations such as feline pupils or elongated teeth.  When they transform, which they can do at will and maintain for as long as they want, they take on an anthropomorphic form, resembling their species.  Some species may even possess multiple forms, usually progressing further as they go.  For example, a Wereshark may take on the rough skin and elongated teeth of a shark in their first form, while their second form may grow gills and have their legs merge into a tail.

Zoans (=Species Name= Zoan ((Ex: Bat Zoan, Mole Zoan, etc)))
Zoans are an offshoot of weres, who instead of maintaining their forms, instead mutate rapidly into a very strongly altered beast, maintaining it for a very short time, with greatly expanded abilities.  An example of a Zoan's ability is that a Cheetah Zoan was able to clock speed approaching Mach 1.

Beasts (=Species Name=-Beast ((Ex: Dragon-Beast, Shark-Beast, etc)))
Beasts are usually hulking anthro versions of their species, however, their minds are barely above the level of a Feral.

What do you guys think?  Any interested parties?

The Written Word / Fallout: Equestria Fanfiction
« on: September 07, 2011, 11:05:26 PM »
So, I wrote a Side story for KKat's series of Fallout: Equestria...
Yeah.

Fallout: Equestria
Side Story: The Meaning of Heroism

Chapter 1: Leaving the Cage

    It's been said that war never changes. But I have to disagree. As history has marched on, ponykind has only found new and more devastating ways to destroy itself. And the last way it settled on was the megaspells. It's been almost two hundred years since the megaspells went off, destroying much of ponykind, and putting an end to Equestria as it had been. But yet, the end of their world was not the end of ponykind. Deep underground, in secure, sealed complexes known as “stables”, ponies continued to live on much as they had before. Generations have passed, and to many, the world outside of the Stables has been all but forgotten. But even still, some ponies continue to dream of the world outside, and seek to find out what lies outside the stables. This is the story of one such group of ponies...

Stable 110, Central Security Station, 8:00 AM

    Cold. That's what the Stable was. Cold. They said that it was supposed to be the way that it had been outside of the stable, but I didn't believe a word of it. Any place that was heated by a real sun had to be warmer than this. Honestly, it seems like they had based the temperature of some sort of Celestia-forsaken icebox instead of anywhere ponies lived. For the hundredth time this last year, I found myself thinking about what the world outside was like. I know that the Overmare had always told us that the outside world was nothing but a vast, empty space, and that there was nothing out there for anypony, but I didn't believe her. I figured that there had to be something more out there. Other ponies, open space, maybe even someplace warmer than the stables. I knew there were supposed to be two entrance doors to the stable, hidden someplace most ponies wouldn't find them. If I could just get to one...

“Reon! Didn't you hear me?”

    The voice of my superior officer jarred me out of my reverie about the chilly air. I blinked a few times, then shook my head, clearing away the last clouds of my distractions.

“Sir, no sir! My apologies, sir!”

    I replied, mentally bracing myself for the inevitable chewing out I was going to receive. Silverblaze, my superior officer on the Stable security force, was notoriously harsh on his subordinates, and as such, I was incredibly surprised when, instead of a harsh rebuke, he instead simply shook his head.

“Reon, you have to get your head back in the game. This is the second time this month that you've spaced out when I'm giving you an order. Is something weighing on you?”

    I blinked, surprised, and had to collect my thoughts before I could adequately respond. I shook my head again, then cleared my throat a little.

“Sir, nothing is bothering me. My apologies. It won't happen again, sir.”

    I said, entirely convincing myself that I hadn't been thinking about escaping the monotony of the stables again. I forced the thought from my mind, instead preparing myself for whatever mission that Silverblaze would give me. Up until now, the only sorts of tasks that the Stable Security Force had been given were incredibly mundane tasks like checking supposed rad leaks, or resolving simple debates between ponies. The Stable was supposedly designed to be completely impossible to breach, and as such, the security force was little more than a formality. I was just beginning to wonder what sort of mundane assignment I was going to have, when Silverblaze's voice startled me into focus.

“We've been getting reports of irradiated creatures in one of the sub-basements. I'll upload the coordinates to your Pip-Buck now. Go down there, check the reports out, then report back to central. If anything attacks you, you are authorized to use lethal force, but make sure to keep your gun suppressed. We don't want to cause a panic.”

    I nodded, then snapped a crisp salute.

“Yes, sir. Understood, sir!”

    I said, then turned to go, before Silverblaze stopped me by placing a hoof on my shoulder.

“Reon, take care of yourself. Come back alive, alright?”

    He said, surprising gentleness in his normally-harsh facial features. I nodded courageously, then stepped out into the halls of the stable, levitating my gear from my locker and onto my body. Chuckling a little in anticipation of finally getting to do something more exciting than routine patrols...

Stable 110, Sub-basement 1, 10:15 AM

    I quietly stepped through the pneumatic door to the first sub-basement, taking a look around. The sub-basements were far removed from the main part of the stable, supposedly because they were unused, and the Overmare didn't want anypony wandering down there and getting lost. And yet, here I was, down in the dark, winding underbelly of the Stable. As the door hissed shut behind me, I toggled the light feature of my Pip-Buck on, casting a quick glance at my Eyes-Forward Sparkle, or EFS, in order to figure out if there were any hostiles in the area. Almost immediately, I saw several red dots directly ahead of me. Levitating my pistol out of its holster, I made my way across the room I was currently in, stopping at the door. I steadied myself, bracing for combat, then pressed the door-release button. With a dull pneumatic hiss, the door slid open, and I stepped around into the room. Immediately, I heard a shrill buzzing noise, and I saw several disturbing flying creatures. As soon as I set foot in the room, all of them turned towards me, eerie glowing eyes flashing red. Almost as soon as they were facing me, something sharp whizzed past me, some sort of stinger embedding itself in the wall next to me. The others fired similar stingers at me, most of them flying past me, save for a pair of them which hit me in my right shoulder. I flinched back, diving for cover behind a pillar. I winced as I used my telekinesis to pull the stingers out of my shoulder, fishing in my gear's pockets for a kit of medical supplies. Before I could patch myself up, however, two of the creatures flew around the pillar, letting out another shrill buzz. Without hesitating, I swung my pistol up, taking aim down the sights and firing off two quick, precise shots into each creature's head. Both of the creature's heads popped like ripe fruits when the bullets made impact. Somehow, seeing these creatures die reassured me, and I shut my eyes for a moment, slipping into the focus of the Stable-tec Assisted Targeting Spell, or S.A.T.S, and stepped out from cover. Time seemed to slow down, and I targeted each creature, lining up my shots on each of their heads. As time slowly returned to normal, I fired off each of the shots, each one landing precisely where I had aimed. I grinned for a second before my vision blurred, then I fell to my knees for a moment, looking at my shoulder and realizing that those stingers must have been poisonous. I stumbled my way back to the the pillar where I had taken cover before, fishing in my dropped medical kit for an antivenom. Finally finding one, I floated it up, plunging the needle into my wounded shoulder and injecting the cocktail of antitoxins into my system. I slumped back against the pillar, shutting my eyes for a moment, allowing the antivenom to purge my system of whatever the stingers had injected into me, then grabbed my radio.

“Commander Silverblaze, this is Officer Reon. I can confirm that there are irradiated creatures down in the sub-basements. They've already spread to the edge of sub-basement one. I'm not sure where they got in from.”

    Commander Silverblaze's voice crackled over the radio a few seconds later.

“Roger that, Officer. Standby for orders. I've got to get in contact with the Overmare.”

“Confirmed, Sir. Reon, over and out.”

    With that, the radio line went silent, and I was left alone in the basement. I checked my shoulder wound, and, after determining that the wound wasn't too severe, I retrieved some bandages from my medical kit, dressing my wound and sealing the bandages with a medical sealant. I sat in silence for a moment before my radio sounded again, and I answered it.

“This is Commander Silverblaze. Officer Reon, the Overmare has given us orders. We need to locate and destroy the source of the creatures. Unfortunately, we have orders to not send any further assistance to you, under the excuse that doing so would cause more panic. However, basic scans are showing a weapons locker ahead. Go two rooms up, then take a right. You should hopefully find something of use to you. Good luck, Reon.”

    I chuckled bitterly.

“Understood, sir. I'll do what I can. I'll be in touch as the situation permits. Reon, over and out.”

    My radio let out a dull click as the line was shut down. I sighed, levitating my pistol back up and loading a fresh clip into it. Shaking a little, I got back to my feet, experimentally placing some weight on my leg. Finding that I could stand with next to no pain, I focused my eyes on the door on the other side of the room, leaning against the wall and pressing the button to unseal the door, stepping around the doorframe, pistol leveled and ready, just in case there was something on the other side that had escaped detection by my EFS. Seeing nothing, I lowered my gun, steadily making my way across the room, still wary of any potential threats that may be in the room. Just as I reached the midpoint of the room, I heard a sharp metallic twang, and reflexively leapt back, just in time to dodge a spray of pellets from a rigged shotgun that somepony had set up here. Shakily, I walked over towards the side of the room that the shot had been fired from, taking a look at the mechanism that had been set up to fire on whomever stepped foot into this room carelessly. The shotgun itself was of the same model that the Stable Security Force still used as a riot suppression weapon, so it was obviously a pre-megaspell design. Judging from the accumulated dust on the weapon and the firing assembly, this trap had lain dormant for a significant time period, and based on the setup of the triggering mechanism, whoever had set this trap up had significant experience in trap design. I quickly dismantled the components of the trap, taking the shotgun, some magical energy cells, and a set of spare shells for my new find. Keeping my eyes trained on the ground and nearby walls, I advanced through the next two rooms, until I found the room with the armory safes. Carefully checking the area around the safes for any traps, I slowly opened the first one of the safes, making sure to stay well clear of the front of the door, in case the interior was rigged with any traps. When nothing happened, I leaned my head around the door, checking the contents of the safe.

    Oh, thank you Celestia!

    Inside the safe were a pair of pistols and a small submachine gun. I picked up all three of them, slinging the submachine gun across my back, and the pistols into a pair of utility pockets on my gear. Steeling myself, I resolved to come back to this place and check out the rest of the safes if I ever got sent back down here again. Now that I had some weaponry, and was feeling a little more confident, I levitated my helmet off and ran a hoof through my mane, brushing a few errant strands out of my face and taking a deep breath.

    “Okay, Reon. You can do this. Just...relax. This is what you've been trained to do. You got this.”

    I said, briefly reassuring myself, then took a look at my Pip-Buck again, checking the map of the area. From the look of things, I was near the far side of the area where Commander SilverBlaze had indicated that the reports were coming in from, meaning that I still had a lot of work ahead of me. I shook my head, fixed my mane back out of my eyes again, and slid my helmet back on, letting it synch with my Pip-Buck to project any relevant displays directly onto the face shield of my gear, instead of having to rely on calling up each individual display as I went along. I took one more deep breath, then headed back the way I had just come, taking a right at the first branch I encountered. The first two rooms I came across were empty, save for a scattering of debris laying around the floors, which I paid little interest to, intent on completing my mission first and foremost. The third room I entered, on the other hand, contained a sight that made my blood run cold. Laying nearly in the center of the room was a pony skeleton. I stepped back, tripping over my own hooves, and landing on my flank with a dull thud. I sat perfectly still for a moment, then slowly forced myself to get up, moving towards the skeleton with a morbid curiosity. A quick look over the body showed that the pony had obviously been a resident from the Stable, since there were tattered shreds of a standard jumpsuit still clinging to the bones. Just as I was about to reach out and inspect the corpse for what had killed this unfortunate, my EFS suddenly flared to life, swarming with red dots. I reacted in a flash, jumping back towards the door, levitating my new submachine gun up and taking aim. No sooner had I done so then the vents on the side of the room burst off the wall, and a horde of irradiated insectoid creatures came rushing at me. Thankfully, by the mercy of the goddesses, the creatures lacked any meaningful form of armor, and the small, low-caliber rounds of the submachine gun chewed through them, adorning the floor with more bodies to join the poor pony who had no doubt been killed by these...abominations. As the last of the monstrosities fell, I slowly lowered my weapon, looking around the room and casting a furtive glance at my EFS as I reloaded, slinging the gun across my back once more. Looking around the room, I finally managed to grab my radio, levitating it out of its pocket and up to my face.

    “Commander, this is Reon. Can you read me?”

    For several nervous seconds, there was only static and silence from the comm line, making me worry that I was cut off from the rest of the force. Just as I was about to put my radio away, I heard the commander's voice.

    “Officer Reon, this is Commadner SilverBlaze. What's your situation down there?”

    I smiled a little, glad that I was still in contact, before looking back at the room and feeling my spirits drop.

    “I'm fine, sir. No major injuries to report. However, I do have a skeleton down here. Unknown cause of death. However, a large swarm of irradiated creatures were in the area. If the body is going to be received, it's at coordinates 01-C1-R3. Confirm.”

    I replied, eyes continually scanning my EFS for any signs of anything else sneaking up to try to kill me. On the other side of the line, I could hear Commander SilverBlaze tapping away on something, then a reply.

    “01-C1-R3. Understood. I'll send a recovery team in ASAP. Any progress on clearing out those creatures?”

    I nodded, then realized how foolish I was, nodding when I was the only pony nearby.

    “A little, sir. The biggest difficulty now is figuring out where these things are coming from. I'll see what I can dig up, and radio you as soon as I find out. Is that acceptable, sir?”

    Commander SilverBlaze was silent for a moment, then I heard another soft set of tapping noises before he replied again.

    “Understood. Stay safe out there, Officer Reon. Don't hesitate to fall back if you need to.”

    I smiled a little, wondering what had prompted the Commander to suddenly be so kind to me all of a sudden, before shaking my head and focusing back on the mission.

    “Alright. Will do, sir. Reon, out.”

    Once more, my radio clicked silent, and I slid it back into its' proper place. Flicking a glance at my map again, I decided that heading the way I was currently was the best idea, since it seemed like that was the direction that the most reports had been coming from. I fought through the next few rooms, occasionally having to shoot through small groups of either the flying creatures or another wave of the insectoids, but having little difficulty. After a few short minutes, I had battled my way through to the room before where the reports cut off. Taking a few deep, steadying breaths, I reached a nervous hoof out to the door-release button, and as the door slid away, braced myself for anything as I stepped into the room. But inside, there were no creatures, no skeletons...nothing. Save for one single thing, something so simple, and yet, to me, who had lived his whole life in the Stable, so very...different. Set against the far wall was the large, cog-shaped door that led to the world outside of the Stable. Was this some sort of test? Had the Commander sent me down here just to find this door and see if I would leave? Or was this just some fluke of chance? Whatever it was, I had to finish checking the sub-basement, just to make sure that nothing else was down here. Besides...the door to the outside... it probably didn't work, right? It was probably just a fake, or the passage beyond it was sealed up or something. At least, that's what I kept telling myself as I made my way through the rest of the empty sub-basement. Once I had finished clearing the area, I made my way back up the stairs to the rest of the Stable, but that door kept drifting into my thoughts. Maybe...maybe sometime soon, when I'm off duty...

Stable 110, Central Security Station, 7:00 PM

    “So, the irradiated creatures are gone?'

    I nodded, slightly proud of myself, despite the fact that anypony could likely have taken care of the task. Commander SilverBlaze smiled a little.

    “Well, I have to say, I'm a little impressed, Reon. Anything else of interest down there?”

    I hesitated a little when he said that.

    Does he know about the door? Should I even...

    “Sir, there is a door down in sector 01-C3-R7. It may be one of the original doors to the wasteland.”

    I said, without thinking or meaning to at all. Immediately, I tensed up, waiting for a strike, or a harsh rebuke, or something. When nothing came after several seconds, I slowly relaxed my muscles, looking at the Commander. He had his eyes shut, almost like he was thinking about something.

    Damnit, why'd I have to go and blurt that out?

    I thought to myself, berating myself mentally until Commander SilverBlaze's voice starteled me our of it.

    “Good job, Reon. You've done well. You can go home for the day. You must be tired, after all that.”

    He said, surprising kindness in his voice and eyes. I nodded a little, then, remembering who I was talking to, snapped a crisp salute.

    “Sir. Thank you, sir.”

    I replied, then turned and made my way back through the halls of the Stable to my room. Once I got there, I took off my Security Force gear, folding it and storing it in the locker I always kept it in, then grabbing a standard Stable 101 jumpsuit. As I lay down on my bed, staring at the ceiling, I started thinking about the world outside, and what it might be like. Would it really be the how things had been described? Or would it be like I had read that it was before, green and lush? Should I even think about going back to that door, or...Celestia forbid, beyond it? I knew that the Overmare had made it very clear that anypony who left the Stable would not be allowed back in. But what did I have to keep me here? Was there anything worth staying in this...steel cage for? I had never really made any friends, even among the other members of the Security Force, and my parents had been dead and cremated for years now. But still, this was my home. I had been born here, raised here...I was supposed to raise my own family here, and eventually die here. Maybe that last thought was the one that drove me to a conclusion. Someday soon, I'd wait until everypony was asleep, then I'd sneak out of the Stable, and out into the world outside. Thinking this, I slowly drifted off into an uneventful sleep...

Stable 110, Dormitories, 6:05 AM

    The next morning, I was awakened by the sound of hoofbeats racing by my door, waking me up from an extremely vivid dream of the world outside the Stable. Quickly rolling out of my bed, I grabbed my Stable Security uniform, throwing it on and racing out my door and down the hall, following the sound of the hoofbeats to the Central Security Station. Once I got there, I saw that the entirety of the Security Force had gathered into the main room, all of them chattering amongst themselves anxiously. The only things I could clearly make out were Commander SilverBlaze's name and mentions of “the outside.” Just as I was about to ask one of the ponies nearby what was going on, there was a loud tap on the local microphone system, and an older-looking pony spoke up.

    “Everyone, may I have your attention, please! I am Lieutenant White Star! I'm sure many of you are wondering where Commander SilverBlaze is. The truth is that he has left the Stable. He escaped sometime last night, through a door located somewhere in the sub-basement. While I'm sure that his leaving is a shock to many of us, I would like to remind you that he left of his own free will, and that leaving the Stable is strictly forbidden. And while I know that some of you are inclined to go and look for him, remember that, if you do, you will never be allowed to return...”

    As White Star kept on talking, I quietly turned and walked out of the room, making my way back to my room, where I sat down on my chair, looking around at the walls and floor, then turning and looking at myself in the full-length mirror, deciding that, that night, I was going to leave. Commander SliverBlaze had given me the courage to finally let go of the Stable, and to make my move into the world beyond this one. With that in mind, I set my Pip-Buck to wake me up later that night, and again drifted off into a fitful sleep...
______________________________________________________________________________
Stable 110, Sub-basement 1, 1:00 AM.

    I pressed the release button on another door, letting it slide open with a soft pneumatic hiss. Without hesitation, I stepped through, casting a careful glance around, in case the Commander had set any traps, or if any creatures had entered the Stable when he had left. A quick glance at my map confirmed that I was going the right direction, and that I was just one room away from where I had found the door to the outside. I had left my room about 2 hours ago, and had managed to sneak my way through the Stable, avoiding any contact with anypony until I had reached the sub-basement. Now, I stood on the verge of the most major decision of my life. Moving quickly, I crossed the room, opening the last door between me and the exit to Stable 101. Once I got to the controls for the heavy, sealed door that led out of the Stable, I saw a note pinned next to the console with a knife. I looked closer at it, realizing that it was written in SilverBlaze's handwriting.

    To whoever is reading this note:
        If you are reading this note, then I assume that you are standing at the cusp of a momentous decision. The decision to leave Stable 110. If you are, then I wish you the best. I don't know what the Equestrian Wasteland will hold, but whatever happens, remember to hold true to yourself and what you believe in. I wish I could offer more than those simple words, but unfortunately, I cannot. But I will be praying to the Goddesses for your sake, if I am still alive and able.
    SilverBlaze.

    I looked at the note twice, then softly smiled, lifting it off of the knife and placing it in one of the saddlebags on my gear. Taking a deep breath to steel myself, I reached out, pulling the lever to open the door. As it slid open, moving almost silently despite it's great size, I mentally braced myself for whatever lay outside the Stable. And once the door was fully open, I stepped forward, out into the unfamiliar Equestrian Wasteland, the door on my past life sliding shut behind me with a soft thud. Taking one last look back, I stepped bravely into the tunnel that lay ahead, not yet knowing what I would face.

    Thus, my story began. A story which would intersect with many others throughout the Wasteland, and would one day lead me to realize the true meaning of being a hero. My name is Reon. And this...is my story.

Random Role Play / My Little Pony: Elements of Friendship
« on: June 06, 2011, 02:21:48 AM »
Ponyville.  Seemingly just a quiet, small town in Equestria, save for one simple fact.  Living in this town were the 6 ponies who had, not too long ago, gathered the Elements of Harmony and saved Princess Celestia's sister Luna from her corrupted form as Nightmare Moon.  It is in this town that another group of ponies, strangers to each other still, will someday soon be gathered to unite another group of elements.  The Elements of Friendship...

On a small hill a short ways outside Ponyville, a young, deep-blue unicorn pony stood, body moving quickly and gracefully in what looked like a martial art form.
"Gotta be faster...I...have to be better than him..."
Haru, the pony on the hill breathed, springing forward with a swift hoof strike...

LBT Fanfiction / Darwin's Soldiers: Aftermath
« on: May 31, 2010, 01:46:40 AM »
This story is set after the end of the Darwin's Soldiers stories, and talks about Neku's memories of his teammates and friends who died in battle.  The reason I say it's slightly Altered Universe is that, while these characters all die or will die in the RP, they are alive in other people's stories.  So it's partially canon, I suppose.

Anyways, on to the story.

____________________________________________________________________
Neku stood atop the hill, looking at the five unmarked piles of stone sitting in front of him.  To most people, these stones meant nothing, but to him, they were filled with memories of the losses he had endured.  Under these five simple piles lay the bodies of the team he had been the leader of during the final timeframe to stop the Dragonstorm Project.  The people whose lives he had saved, and who had saved his life in return.  His...friends...his family.  Having been raised from a synthetic culture, he had no one to call family, so he had attatched to them instead.  He looked at each in turn, thinking back on each of the people buried under them as he did.

    Under the first pile of stones lay Cale, the Chameleon.  Cale, like Neku, had been given the power to generate and control electricity by the experiments done to him at Pelendavia, but unlike Neku, had originally sided with the terrorists menacing the facility.  When their betrayal left Cale with no options left, he joined up with the scientists and experiments, fighting valiantly alongside them, even risking his life to shut down the bridge that the terrorists had set up in the facility.  From there, he had joined up with Neku and several other experiments, participating in strikes against several smaller Dragonstorm bases and facilities.  Then, during that time, a man had searched them out, making them an offer to join a task force dedicated to eliminating Dragonstorm entirely.  They had joined, and during a strike on a larger facility, been re-united with several of their old friends from Pelendavia.  Cale had also met a fox named Aimee, an experiment from the facility, with whom he had fallen in love.  But she was engaged to another fox, named Aydin.  When he found this out, Cale left them behind, seeking out a Dragonstorm base, and voluntarily subjecting himself to the procedures.  When Neku and the others attacked the base, Cale, along with his new "partner" Kayra, attacked them.  But when Kayra launched a fatal attack at Aimee, some part of Cale stirred through the control chip, and he stepped in front of the attack, then destroyed Kayra in one swift attack before dying in Aimee's arms.
"You always lived following your own path, Cale.  I hope that, in the afterlife, you find the kindness the world so denied you...my brother."
Neku thought, shifting his eyes right some.

     Under the next pile of stones, Kagetora was interred.  The young Vigoorian ninja had joined the others at Pelendavia, under orders from his homeland to assist in the shutdown of the Dragonstorm Project.  He helped the team through several close fights, then left them, joining Neku's team and following them until the raid where they met their old teammates, when he recieved new orders from the Vigoorian empire.  His new objective was to kill anyone with knowledge of the Dragonstorm experiments, and to preserve the facilities for the use of his people.  He followed these orders, gunning down three members of the newly-reunited team, before he himself was killed.
"Kagetora...you chose duty over what you wanted to do, and proved to everyone the way that a Ninja lives...and how he dies."

   Another rightward shift of his eyes brought Neku to see the third pile of stones, this one marking the location of 1st lieutenant Roy Hawkeye.  The mechanically-augmented avian was another one of Pelendavia's many super-soldier attempts, and, once awakened from stasis in the Advanced Weapons Testing Room, joined the scientists in defense of the facility, driving off the terrorists with his array of powerful weapons, and aiding the team with his kind, focused demeanor.  He, too, had joined the Anti-Dragonforce Task Group, participating in missions with his characteristic focus and determination.  Even after Kagetora and Cale's desertions and betrayals, he continued to believe the best of them, right up until he met his end at Cale's hands in the facility.
"Hawkeye...you were such a stick in the mud all the time, but...without you, I don't know what to do.  I guess you were something of my anchor..."
Neku sighed, then shifted his gaze to the last two piles of stones.

    Under the last two piles lay Slash and Agito, two bio experiments from Pelendavia.  Slash, a wolf with the power to cut matter from any distance, and Agito, a mixed-breed with the power to create spikes from his body, and who, for the longest time, kept himself restrained in a straitjacket to minimize the threat he had presented.  The two kept each other's company almost constantly, and worked together flawlessly as a team in the many battles they had faced alongside the others.  But all the teamwork in the world couldn't save them from being brutally murdered by Kayra.
"Rest well, you two...know that you'll never be forgotten."
Neku thought silently, remembering that the two's worst fear was that they would die unremembered...

      At long last, Neku stood up from the hill, looking out over the city he had moved into.  He had hoped once to retire to someplace far from conflict with the beautiful Siberian Husky Snow, a fellow experiment who he had loved, but, after the end of the conflict, she had left him, saying that he had changed, and was not the one she loved any longer.  So instead, he had moved into the city, living in a tiny apartment by himself, rarely leaving save for food and to visit the graves of his friends.  As he watched the sun set behind the towering buildings, his lips parted, and he uttered a single thought.

     "Evolution is cruel.  It doesn't care for the people it kills, shows no mercy to anyone...and so, I fade into obscurity, just another relic of the past..."
He said softly, starting down the hill...

Chapter 1
______________________________________________________________________

Adrian Yukio Starr sat quietly at the edge of the bluff, staring out at the lake.
“It’s beautiful out here… Especially when the sun’s rising.” He thought to himself, as the glowing auburn light danced over the serene beauty of the lake below him. He sighed, picking up a rock from the ground next to him, tossing it in his hand. He had barely been in the town for a week, and yet he had already begun to get attached to it. “Which…” he reminded himself “is a bad idea.” His family hadn’t stayed in any one place very long since he was a kid, which, even though it was because he was looking for someone, had begun to make him quite a bit withdrawn from most people. In fact, there was only one person he had any attachment to at all, save for his family, and that was his longtime friend, Soichiro. The Japanese-born bat had been by his side since they had met in Preschool, and after his parents died, had been adopted into Adrian’s family. The two knew each other like no one else ever could, and they shared almost everything. As he thought back on the times that the two had shared, he heard footsteps coming from behind him.
“Hey, Soichiro. Is it time for school already?” He asked the bat, who nodded quietly.

“Yeah. It is. You’ve been out here for quite a while, Adrian. What’s on your mind?” Soichiro answered, looking out at the sunrise thoughtfully. Adrian sighed and stood up, brushing the seat of his red overskirt gingerly to get any dirt on it off. The red fox ran a hand through his crimson hair, his lithe muscles rippling beneath his fishnet undershirt. His delicate, brown-red fur sparkled in the rising light, and the color was only accented by the red shirt he wore over his fishnet undershirt, the red knuckle gloves he wore, and the black jeans he was wearing under his overskirt. He turned, looking at the bat with his soft blue eyes. Soichiro smiled. The slightly older bat was wearing a simple tank top, modified to allow his wings through, and simple, although ragged, shorts. He was lean, but had the musculature common among bats. His raven-black fur gleamed strikingly in the amber glow of morning, and he couldn’t help chuckle as he and Adrian turned to get back into his car. In all the years the two had known each other, Adrian never had been good at hiding things. As the two sat down, Adrian finally spoke up again.

“I was…I was thinking about him. We’ve been looking since I was just a kid, but…we haven’t had any luck yet. To be honest, I’m starting to lose hope that we’ll ever find him…” He sighed, looking up at the roof of the car with a sad sigh.

“We will, Adrian. You just have to keep believing. After all, it was you who said that you wouldn’t ever stop looking right? That night?” Soichiro gently said, placing a warm hand on Adrian’s shoulder. Adrian nodded.

“You’re right, as usual, Soichiro. Guess it’s a good thing that you’re here.” He chuckled weakly, but the laughter never reached his eyes. It rarely did. Ever since that night that their friend had been dragged off by his parents for what he was, Adrian had stopped truly smiling. True, he still had a small, somewhat cocky smirk on his face, and he would laugh at jokes and such, but that joy never found its way to his eyes. Ever since that day, his eyes always were softly focused somewhere far away, like he was looking for the friend he had lost. Ever since that day, Adrian had vowed to be stronger.

“So noble…” Soichiro thought to himself, a faint smile playing across his lips…
________________________________________________________________________

The duo rode the rest of the trip to school in silence, the only sounds being the smooth rumble of the car’s engine and the sounds of music over the radio. Both were nervous, as yet again, they would be starting anew at another different school. However, underneath these nerves, there was a faint, but ever-present hope. The hope that maybe, just maybe, this would be where they would find their friend. After a short drive, Soichiro pulled the car into a parking space in the school lot, and he and Adrian hopped out of the car to look at the new high school.

“Hadenview High School, huh?” Adrian said, his tail flicking lightly back and forth like it usually did when he was distracted. Soichiro sighed, locking his car door.

“It looks like it, Adrian. Guess we should probably get moving, huh?” He said, walking into the building along with the rest of the crowd…
________________________________________________________________________

Adrian sighed as yet another bell rang, signaling the end of yet another pointless class he had gained absolutely nothing from. Not only was what the teacher was talking about utter drivel, but he had yet to see anyone even remotely resembling his friend. He felt his hand slide into his pocket, reaching for the tattered old photo that he carried with him. To him, it was something of a reminder, a way to keep reminding him of what he was looking for, what he had spent the last two years of his life seeking. It was a simple, innocent photo of him, Soichiro, and their two best friends from that time, just sitting on the couch smiling.

“I’m going to find you, my friend. I promise you, I’ll be faithful to what I told you the night that you went away…” He thought silently, his free hand closing into a fist…

Chapter 2
______________________________________________________________________

Adrian stood by the school’s door, resting his back against a pole. At last, he saw Soichiro making his way out throng of people flooding of the door. He dodged his way through the crush of the crowd, finally making his way to the bat.

“Hey Soichiro. How was your day?” He asked his adopted brother, grinning a little. Soichiro looked over at him, half-smirking as he answered.

“It was fine. Excepting that I dislike most of my classes, and there’s not been a single trace of him.” He replied, a touch snappishly. Adrian looked over at him, raising an eyebrow.

“What’s wrong, bro? Something’s troubling you, isn’t it?” He asked, sounding more serious than he usually did, concern crossing his features. Soichiro shook his head.

“I’ll tell you when we get home, alright? It’s rather personal.” Soichiro answered, looking at the ground with a small sigh. Adrian walked alongside him, gently wrapping an arm around him, until the duo reached Soichiro’s car, and even then, Adrian’s hand never left Soichiro. The ride to the two’s house didn’t take long after the initial bout with the parking lot traffic. In about twenty minutes, the duo pulled up to Adrian’s family’s house. They both went in, saying a quick hello to Adrian’s mom. After grabbing a quick snack from the kitchen, the duo ran up the stairs, deciding to sit and talk in Adrian’s room. Taking the first door on the right, the pair popped into the organized chaos that was Adrian’s abode. Scattered across the floor were books, magazines, and a very eclectic menagerie of other things, ranging from toy Nerf guns to a set of wooden swords that Adrian had carved. Adrian pushed a few books off of his bed, clearing enough space for Soiciro to take a seat as Adrian sat down on the floor.

“Alright, what’s got you so upset, Soichi-kun?” Adrian asked, tilting his head as he asked, his ears back against his head in a surprising display of actual concern. Soichiro looked at a wall for a moment, then sighed, dropping his gaze to the floor.

“It’s…it’s all the people there. I’ve overheard quite a lot of talk, what with these ears, and…well… it seems like there are a lot of people who hate anyone who isn’t perfectly straight. N-not that that concerns me, of course. I’m just worried about you, that’s all.” He stammered, his large, soft ears twitching, their movement mussing his silky black hair, making the long bangs that usually framed his face fall to the center, directly in front of his eyes. Adrian smiled a little, because he knew that when Soichiro’s ears did that, it meant that the slightly older bat was hiding something.

“There’s something else you’re not telling me, Soichi-kun…” He teased, his ears twitching as he smiled. Soichiro pushed his bangs aside, sighed, then finally conceded.

“Alright, I’ll admit it. There were…a few guys that I thought were pretty darn cute in my classes today, okay?” He said, sounding a touch revolted with himself. Adrian chuckled a little, leaning in closer to him with a smirk on his face.

“What’s wrong with that, exactly?” He said, gently teasing his adopted brother, his tail wagging languidly. Soichiro snorted a little, rolling his eyes at the fox.

“Just because you like guys, and you have a boyfriend, that doesn’t make it normal, Adrian.” Soichiro retorted, gently shoving Adrian away from him. Adrian sighed, sat back down, and gave Soichiro a pouty stare.

“Uh-huh. Ri~ght. You’ve said that before, but after all…” He was cut off by Soichiro grabbing the nearest object he could, which happened to be a rather large book in this case, and flinging it straight into his head. Adrian flinched, the force of the book knocking him cleanly over, as Soichiro started shouting at him.

“For the last goddamn time, I’m not Gay, Bi, or anything the hell like that! Get that through your thick, stupid, ******** head, you stupid queer! If you think that what happened that one time changes anything, you’re wrong! Just shut up! Shut the hell up!” Soichiro fumed, standing up and storming out of the room, making sure to give Adrian a sharp kick to the ribs as he did so. Adrian lay there on the floor, eyes closed tight against the pain in his head and his ribs, wondering why his brother would always get so aggressive when that subject was brought up. He had tried time and again to convince Soichiro that there wasn’t anything wrong with liking guys, but every time, he ended up on the floor. “Like I am now.” he added mentally. Slowly, he sat up, holding a hand over his bleeding nose, and walked over to get a Kleenex. “Ow…Note to self. Watch out what Soichiro has nearby next time I try to bring that up…” He thought silently…

Well, this seems to be a trend, so... Who do you like best?

Dante is from most of my RP's, as is Virgil
Sieg is from "In Darkness"
Neku, Hawkeye, Kagetora, and Cale are all from "Darwin's Soldiers"
Kai is from "Sharptooth Adventures"
Akito is from the Fantasy RP
Adrian is from "Defenders of Lylat"

LBT Projects / RP Gang Videos?
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:46:28 AM »
Well, this is new.  After browsing Itunes, I found a version of "If We Hold On Together" that was made by a band called Nicotine.  It's sorta an upbeat, semi-pop/rock version of the song that just struck me as being wonderful for at least one video dedicated to my RP groups.  The Rp's that it would work for would be...

Sleep and Remember series
Stone of Cold Fire series
Sharptooth Valley
In Darkness
Darwin's Soldiers

These are all ones I'm thinking of making a video to.  In order to do what I have in mind, I'd need two things.  One, the consent of the creators, and two any special art that the character creators want in the video!

Yeah, this may work, or it'll totally bomb, but feel free to chime in with suggestions about which one I should start with and so on!

I've been playing Soul Calibur 3 and 4 recently, and I just thought of how cool it would be to do an RP with both the canon characters and our own create-a-soul characters.  Anyone else think this is a possible good idea?

It is said that in times of trouble, five guardians will come from the valley to defend all those within its' walls.  Now, the evil raptor Kireek has obtained the power to create monsters.  It is time once again for five young ones of the five major species to take up the mantles of the guardians. This time, however, they will not fight alone. This time, they will have the aid of strangers from the Beyond...

  ~~~Land Before Time:  Destiny's Rangers~~~
Kireek stood over the Beyonds' scorched earth, from which he had just created life.  The first of what he decided would serve as his personal army stood before him, a raptor-shaped beast of grey clay.
"Excellent.  Now, to create the rest of my army.  Then...the Valley will be mine!"
He laughed insanely...
High above, a lone flyer saw the creation of the clay monster, and quickly wheeled about towards the Valley, muttering to himself...
"Oh dear, oh dear.  This is terrible.  I thought that it was over last time.  I have...have to tell Mr. Thicknose and Grandpa Longneck.  They'll know what to do..."
He said, racing back towards the Valley at full speed...
The Written Word / Loving a Shadow
« on: August 06, 2008, 01:55:30 AM »
And this is the second story I'll post here...  My Oblivion Dark Brotherhood story.
Loving a Shadow--A tale of the Dark Brotherhood
Chapter 1:  A Shadow is Cast
Disclaimer:  Adrian is my own Oblivion Character.  Other than that, the characters in this work are all works of Bethesda, and owned by such.
   Assassins.  We’re people like anyone else.  But many don’t realize that.  Not surprising, since only the coldest, most sociopathic of us are ever found out.  The truth is that we all feel the same emotions as anyone.  We feel fear, feel pain and loneliness, understand despair, and we…we fall in love.  That last one was one of the most surprising moments of my life.  The Argonian leader of my Brotherhood Sanctuary, Ocheeva.  The woman who holds my heart forever.  This is our story.
   I suppose I should begin with myself, and my induction into the Family.  My name is Adrian Starr.  Yes, I’m the same one who supposedly saved the Empire from the Oblivion Crisis.  But in reality, I had little to do with that.  The hero the people were looking for was Martin.  It was him who cast Mehrunes Dagon back into Oblivion, not me.  I guess that I’m the next-best option, since Martin either vanished or became the Dragon of Akatosh in the Temple of the One.  Either way, people looked up to me.  So why become an assassin, you ask?  It was that foolish drunkard in Cheydinhal that changed me forever.
   It was a night much like any other when it started.  I had gone to one of the local taverns to pass a few hours among the colorful chatter and warm comforts of the many travelers that passed through there.  At around ten o’clock, I got up to leave the tavern, and, once outside, stretched my arms out to relax in the cool night air.  As I headed up the street to the house I had recently purchased, a man approached me from one of the many side alleyways.  He was unsteady at best, and even from my distance I could smell the reek of alcohol on him.
“Hey!  You’sh the Ch-Champion of Cyrodill, ain’tya?  Got any more money for me to shhpend on shomethin’ to wet my poor dr-dry throat, Mishter Champion?”  He slurred, leaning heavily against the wall for support.   Curtly, I waved him away, replying…
“You hardly seem to need more to drink, sir.  I have no coins for the likes of you.  Now leave me in peace.”
As I turned to walk away, I heard the man’s footsteps behind me, and in one moment, the deed was done.  He lay there, a deep wound slashed across his torso.  I looked at the bloodied blade in my hand, and felt strangely…guiltless.  Men like him were nothing more than parasites on the world, and had no purpose other than death, I reasoned, as I cleaned my blade before placing it back in its’ scabbard and finishing my walk home.  That night, I found sleep hard to come by, as it felt like someone or something was watching me.  As I awoke, I started, for there was a man next to my bed.
“You sleep rather soundly for a murderer.  That’s good. You’ll need a clear conscience for what I’m about to propose.”
He said, looking down at me.
In a second, I was on my feet, drawing my katana blade and leveling it at his throat.
“Who are you? What do you want?”  I asked, eyes narrowing faintly…
“I am Lucien Lachance, and you, sir, are a cold-blooded killer.  Your work pleases the Night Mother, and I would like to invite you to the Dark Brotherhood.”   These words piqued my interest, and by the time we had finished talking, I had been given a dagger and orders to find and kill a man named Rufio at the Inn of Ill Omen.  I quickly mounted my horse, a fine, black beast outside the city walls, and in less than a day’s ride reached the inn.  Once inside, I slipped into the sublevel where I sensed a life aura, and found Rufio slumbering.  In one swift movement, I slew him, my dagger piercing his spine at the base of his skull.  I withdrew my blade, pushed the corpse off of the bed, and fell asleep for a brief rest.   I awoke again to Lucien standing near me, and he congratulated me and directed me to the Brotherhood Sanctuary in Cheydinhal, with instructions to open the sealed door blocking entrance.  I returned to the place specified, and when I opened the door, I was greeted by a large, underground hall.  A voice from my left startled me, and I turned to come face-to-face with a vampire.  Reacting quickly, I drew my new dagger and readied myself for his attack on me, but it never came.  Rather, he spoke to me in a rather quiet, calm fashion.
“Now, now, Dearest Brother.  It’s not polite to draw a weapon on a member of your family.  I am Vincete Valtieri, a member of the Brotherhood, and, yes, a Vampire.  You needn’t fear, though.  The five tenets come more importantly than feeding, so I would never dream of harming you. Come, your other family members are eager to meet you.  They are right through this door.  I’m sure Ocheeva will introduce you to them all.
I stepped through the door Vincente indicated, and found myself in what looked like a great hall of a castle.  Seated at the table were five other figures in black armor, arrayed in a semi-circle.  As I stepped forwards, a seductive, feminine voice to my right stopped me dead in my tracks.
“Ah.  You must be the new Brother we’ve been told would be coming.”  I turned, and saw an Argonian female staring at me, eyes appraising my abilities, I had no doubt.  My eyes began to wander, and I began to notice how her armor, made of high quality leather, no doubt, clung to her body tightly, leaving little to my imagination.  As my eyes began to travel even lower, she suddenly nodded, then grabbed my arm and led me in front of the others.
”Please, dear brothers and sisters, a moment, if you will.  Sithis has been good to us this day, and has delivered a new family member to us.  Please introduce yourself, Brother.”
I stepped forwards, eyes examining each of the assassins in turn, then bowed.  Rising I introduced myself to them, then they stepped forwards and we exchanged greetings.  The first was a young Breton girl by the name of Antoinette Marie.  She seemed very friendly, eager, and open, and so her being an assassin was a bit of a surprise.  The next to introduce himself was an Orc by the name of Gogron gro-Balmog.  He seemed a bit…blunt, but honest.  He said he wasn’t one for sneaking and would rather bash his opponent in close range, so I was severely doubting his capability by the end of our talk.  Then the Argonian, Teinavaa, introduced himself.  Of the ones I’d met so far, he struck me as being the most capable of any of them, both talented and strong, but still seemed eager and impulsive at times.  Then an Altmer rose, walked over to me, and introduced herself as Telaendril.  She carried a bow with her, so I guessed that she was an archer by profession.  The last of the group, a Khajiit, sat at the table and sullenly refused to even make eye contact with me.  A hand brushed my shoulder, and once again, I found myself face to snout with the female Argonian that had stood at the door.
“Pay M’raaj-Dar little mind.  He is mostly like this.  Rude and impossible.  My name is Ocheeva, and I am the leader of this small place of sanctuary.  Here, put these on and come speak to me once you do.  I’ll be in my chambers.”  She handed me a bundle of the same leather clothes as my new brothers and sisters, as well as a hood for my face, but as she walked off, my attention was more focused on her tail and butt, which swayed gracefully as she walked away.  I donned my new armor in a shadowed corner, thinking to myself how long a stay I might…enjoy here.  One thing was for certain, though.  I had found a family, and had fallen head over heels for an Argonian.  My time here might seem very, very long indeed…
