Well, I'll admit that G5 has me intrigued. I initially wasn't sure I'd even give this a watch at all after how much Pony Life disappointed me, but now I figure I'm at least going to have to look into this, even if it's just for the nicely done animation. Those backgrounds are seriously impressive, and the character designs are pretty cute!

I can't help but notice a couple red flags, though. I'm not very impressed at how much of a blatant Mayor Bellwether knockoff Phyllis Cloverleaf clearly is. Couldn't they at least have made her LOOK different? Same hairstyle, same glasses...I mean, if you're going to rip off Pixar, why not at least be more subtle about it? Oh well, I could probably learn to overlook that...

But there's something else I'm not sure I can overlook, and that's the use of technology. One of the most charming things about the original Equestria was that they made a point of not having modern technology be a part of it. There weren't cell phones, there weren't robots (?!?), and there sure wasn't any social media. More often than not, I find social media annoying enough in real life as it is, so it especially disappoints me to see that they put it in MLP now, and for what? Because Equestria wasn't going to be cool and trendy enough without it? Every time technology randomly shows up in one of these clips, it jars me right out of the feel of MLP.

Also, I have to second @ImpracticalDino in saying that it seems odd (and disappointing) for Equestria to have become THIS backwards in the days gone by since G4. Feels like the best idea Hasbro could come up with was to rehash the first episode of FiM's "friends can be different" lesson but just on a larger scale.

But contrary to what this post might make you guys think, I truly am looking forward to this movie being released, I swear! :slap I mean, who knows? Maybe I'll love it. Maybe I'll love to hate it. :lol In any case, I'm curious to see what this will be all about! Thanks for keeping us updated @The Chronicler -- I haven't even bothered to look for news about this movie elsewhere because you're providing so much coverage! :)

Honestly, imma have to applaud you on this. I have trouble with making backgrounds, and seeing you make this master piece encourages me to work a bit more on that.

Also the baby is so cute!

I actually love the Ruby's legs sketches - they look so elegant!

It's nice to see Ruby getting some attention! I admit I haven't tried her yet because as you say - hands are hard.  :lol Keep up the good work!

Heh, thank you so much! She's actually very fun to draw.

So it turns out I'm actually keeping up with this fanart thing. I've come to the conclusion there isn't enough fanart of Mama Longneck so I'm going to be the change I want to see in the world.  :lol Might as well start with the beginning. Might try and draw a few different events from her life, might not. We'll see (I'd love to make a mini-comic series but I don't think I have the talent or patience for that haha). This one was inspired by a scene I found whilst trudging through my old fanfics which I thought was quite nice.

Originally I wanted to draw several characters including Grandma's parents and Saro all gushing over the hatchling but... that was ambitious.

Yes I'm still in the habit of youngifying certain adult characters. I like the headcanon that the grandparents had a bluish tint to them in their youth and greyed as they got older... still trying to figure out younger Grandma's colours here. I don't know why she gives me such trouble.  :p

The problem I have with this is that I put so much time into messing around with the background that by the time I got to colouring the actual characters I lost interest. XD The best part is that I didn't pay attention to where the characters were going to be and thus put some quite a bit of time into things that are now covered by the parents' heads.  :ShortyDisgusted The moss on the trees looks a bit too green too whoops. Ah well, it's my first attempt at a detailed background in... forever. The shadows are bleh but I just wanted this thing finished by that point.  :oops

In short, I've got a lot to learn with digital painting. Overall I'm not completely satisfied but then I never am, so... :p

Two versions, one with and one without Linnaea, cause I get OCs aren't everyone's thing. I tried drawing Linnaea from memory this time, the others were drawn from references. Longneck hatchlings are actually kinda hard.

I've got an idea of a follow up to this but the next thing I'll post will be my entry for the Halloween prompt. That will actually feature the gang rather than the secondary characters that I have an unhealthy attachment to.  :rhett_smile

I guess with the official release now only a few days away, preview clips are coming in more rapidly. First, there's this 30-second clip featuring Zipp's first appearance:

And there's this 3-minute clip (which seems to occur rather later on in the movie, so I think some might consider it a spoiler worth avoiding for now):

Visual Art / chomper94’s Flipnote Collection
« Last post by chomper94 on September 21, 2021, 07:16:30 PM »
Hello there guys! :wave  Just recently I have purchased a DSi XL on Amazon.  And thanks to that purchase, I can use Sudomemo to convert my Flipnotes, into MP4’s, so I can share them with you guys!  Because of this, I’m starting this thread to share them.

Now keep in mind that first off, I may not post in this thread often.  It might be because I’m busy creating a new one, or I’m not working on Flipnotes right now.

And second, I’m not really good at animating, so I used stick figures for most of my animations, so make sure to be nice.  If you don’t like it, that’s fine, I’ll improve as years go on.

Now let’s start this thread by posting my first animation, which is a recreation of a classic Simpsons scene.  Enjoy! :D

I was scrolling down in my gallery and that's when I spotted this.

It's one of my old drawings I did back in 2019.

I would like to point out the mistakes, but I don't want to focus too much on that.
