This topic has totally come up before, and I will repeat what I stated, and that the issue with the Brave Longneck Scheme is that LBT4 Ali and TV series Ali are like two different characters. Ali is the deal-breaker in the episode, and all of us just take it out on Rhett by proxy.

There's no doubt the episode was a dud in the "Ali's return" aspect of it. Anybody who thought that lousy purple (PURPLE???!!) Ali counted was losing it. It's actually Ali, not Rhett, who gets my vote for the worst character in the episode.

One thing remains constant throughout all fandoms and it's you don't mess with the shippers 

True, true! That's why you won't find me bringing up, say, MLP ships in YouTube comments, because, well, "I got a thing to do, and it's called LIVE..."

What I actually find interesting about this episode is that usually any of Cera's or Littlefoot's plans get rebutted by the other. In this instance they were both completely united with doing whatever it took to get Ali to see the lies.

Hmm...are you suggesting Cera could be a "Shipper on Deck" of sorts? I think she was just angry that even though (back in IV) she'd finally gotten past her pride enough to extend her friendship to Ali, Ali turned around and snubbed her this time.

Heck, bring Rhett back as well I think that would be fun haha.

Sooooo he's actually this month's showcase...alright then, here are my thoughts on Rhett. He's not a very likeable character, that's true, but if you ask me, that's due to blandness more than anything else. Yeah, he was rude to the Gang of Five and fibbed to everyone, but why does that make him any worse than the also blandly-mean bullies from III? As a one-note liar/jerk of a kid whose actions caused nothing more than annoyance, I wouldn't even say he's worthy of the villain character showcase.

It always looked to me like Rhett was vilified in the LBT fandom far more than he ever was in the show, which kind of baffles me. Is it because he came between Littlefoot and Ali or something like that? I guess I just must not feel as strongly about Littlefoot+Ali as the rest of you do, though I do agree Ali was introduced as a Littlefoot love interest and is the only character shown in the series that Littlefoot could reasonably end up with. Maybe I'm just not much of a shipper in general, because I can probably count all the ships I care about on one hand.

Call me crazy, but I always thought the Brave Longneck Scheme episode was fun. The scene where the gang rehearses their plan always had me laughing, especially with how giggly everyone is the first run-through. And Rhett got what was coming to him when Chomper came tearing out of the bushes at him!

Ah, nice going, Mumbling! The emotes made me think this was mostly Flathead's doing, but I suppose the fact that we barely saw you all April 1st should've tipped me off. You guys sure are willing to pull out all the stops for April Fools--the way you all kept the Rhett narrative going, it was certainly the most outlandish thing I've ever seen a site do for this holiday! I had been wondering on March 31st if there would be anything happening on here, but...this was more than I could've guessed. Considering that it looked like a couple players logged in just to post on this thread, I'm getting the feeling these kinds of hijinks are an annual thing...

Thank you for all your feedback, Anagnos!! It's great to hear my story was worth the read, and I sure appreciate your willingness to point out what could be improved.

From early on brainstorming my prompt response, I had the idea of making the "parent" a villain (or villains). I also knew, however, that I didn't want to push whoever I chose too far out of established characterization. Once I'd settled on Sierra, developing a soft spot for this one hatchling who gave him a chance was as far as I was willing to carry things. This story would only work with him if I kept the premise to the bare minimum. I mean, even by the ending, if Sierra ran into, say, Pterano or Rinkus again, he definitely wouldn't be nice to them in any way, shape, or form--and the Gang of Five? Forget it!

I was aware, however, that Sierra had to have some reason to let the hatchling tag along with him in the first place, and that was where the wing injury came in. Wandering through areas where food was scarce, he needed to use the hatchling--and using it definitely would have been the way he justified this in his head--to get food from the trees. True, leading up to that point he'd already had chances to hurt the hatchling and never went that far, but I tried my best to keep him as aggressive as I could without crossing that line that would have jeopardized the rest of the story.
Ah, rats, I think you might be right about Berry Valley. Technically, though, I didn't name any of the yellowbellies here, so they might not necessarily be the same trio from the 13th movie...yeah, let's go with that. (Oh, who am I kidding, that's an atrocious excuse.)

Don't worry: from now on, it's going to be my goal to settle on a title for good BEFORE I actually start posting! And I don't know why I didn't think to have the whole story in one post--it was only about 20 pages long in Word, so having chapters wasn't really necessary. I'll keep that option in mind in the future!

Read up to Chapter 2 so far. Really like how the story is going espically with how Sierra is having to deal with "Brat". XD    I'll post my thoughts when I finish.

Update: Wow this story was amazing! I really like how you gave some backstory behind Sierra as I liked the flyers in movie 7.  I laughed when I saw you incorporated the yellowbellies in the story and how Pterano just dealt with fruit being tossed at him. I really liked it from beginning to end!
