The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Pixar to make a dinosaur film

Okay, it's probably not gonna be released for another 3 years at least, but when I first heard about it I was pretty dam exited. This could be the grand opportunity to get a really good dinosaur movie with good special effects. I had high hopes for Disney's "Dinosaur", and ended up disapointed. Could this film offer what "Dinosaur" didn't?

Unfortunately, upon reading the summary of the film, it sounds like it's gonna be like Jim Henson's "Dinosaurs".

But hey, this is Pixar. Which means it probably won't be epic, but whatever it is, it sure will be well done.  ;)

It sounds pretty interesting at least, and Pixar's has a great track record, so It should be at least good.

According to the description it appears that it won't be the same "genre" as Disney's Dinosaur, but more aimed at commedy instead. With dinosaurs getting never extinct in their scenario they may be aiming for a combination of dinosaurs and modern technology.

I'm looking forward to this one. The only Pixar film I didn't like was Cars, so this'll probably be good too.

Bruton, you were disappointed with Disney's Dinosaur? I would've thought that was one of your favourites.

Well, it isn't. I don't really like lemurs---or any type of monkey, by the way---so I was pretty unimpressed to see some in the film. I didn't really like Baylene, or Eema too much, or Aladar. That guy was just plain boring. That's most of the main cast. Kron was an interesting villian, but the best guy in the film was Bruton---what an awesome character! I originally named myself Kron, only to realize it was Bruton I should name myself after. And now I proudly hold that name.

I heard the reason why they added lemurs in was because they were cute and that most mammals at the time were "ugly". Something like that. But scientifically speaking, lemurs didn't exist until much later, after dinos went extinct I believe.

I don't really see Kron as a true villain. If you think about it, he was only doing what he thought would protect the herd. He thought differently than Aladar. While Aladar is a "survival of everyone" kind of dino, Kron is "survival of the strong". To me, he just didn't strike me as a villain.

I do like the carnotaurs. I thought they were awesome. Inaccurate though; they're way too big. Iguanodons were larger I believe.

Weren't mammals that existed during the time of the dinosaurs similar to shrews?

I am curious what this movie will be and look forward to more information and trailers when they come out.   Guess we all have to wait for a few years for more information.

I'm looking foward to it.  Well, I take that back.  This dinosaur movie will creep me out since it will consist of both humans and dinos.  A little wierd image in my perspective.  The caption said it was hilarious so that's what I'm expecting.

How are humans and dinosaurs together creepy? It's been done before.

It's...different. Not necissarily unenjoyable...but very different, and not what I'd like to see.  :x

Humans and dinosaurs together? It's not really different. It's been done many times before. It isn't anything new.

I know...(aka The Land of the Lost), but I only prefer them in stories, like fanfiction stories, not necessarily in movies.  It's just one of my pet peeves.

Personally it doesn't bother me that much.

I would love for a Dinosaur Wars movie to be created, which is about dinosaurs returning to Earth and takes place in modern times.

Humans and dinos together has been done before lots of time.  In movies, tv series, comic books, books too I'm sure.

I would guess it'll be in the same sort of vein as their other movies.

Pixar's going to make another 3D cartoon about dinosaurs? By the look of the summary I'd say it will be closer to senseless comedies Dreamworks usually produces.

I actually really liked Disney's Dinosaur. Yeah the lemurs were not the best characters, but they weren't enough to ruin the movie for me. For what it was trying to achieve, the visuals were breathtaking. I can see the problems people have with it, but I personally enjoyed it.

I still need to see that movie again. I don't really remember much of it.

This is the updated Pixar wiki of this film.

It seems that this film is going to be more based on society's view of dinosaurs, almost like an observatory, cultural study of the perception of dinosaurs. I love that they add the "longneck" comment in the first paragraph. :rolleyes

I guess the only thing I'd be leery about is combining humans with technology with this film. I think it's a great what-if scenario on what if dinosaurs never went extinct, but to add humans, while it has been done before and done decently, I guess it sounds a bit lazy to me to add that.

I think I will wait till there is more information and what others are saying about it.

Though from what I read, I'm no expert, the dino genuses or genii, were decreasing towards the end of the triassic.  So if the meteor had not hit some may have survived for a time.
