LBT: Christmas Gift to you all

I am preparing a little Christmas gift for you all. It's based on LBT. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I won't give away as to what I am drawing, but I feel the need to send out this message right away. Atleast you know you'll be recieving something from me this year.

I'm using this post to inform you all of this up coming event (if it so can be called) and to have a place to insert the image.

Vorfreude* is the best of joys

*Vorfreude is a German word for which there is no perfect counterpart. One might "translate" it as "pre-joy". It descriebes the "looking forward" to something good which you know is coming (e.g. Christmas).

HERE IS YOUR GIFT!

I drew adult Petrie and adult Ducky. I know Ducky doesn't look like her adult species, but I wanted her to still look like Ducky. Other than that I can't think of anything else I want to say about the picture (It's 12:49 AM I started at 8 PM I'm tired lol). All I can do now is answer any questions and what not.

I listened to the song Remember Me This Way by Jordan Hill the entire time I was doing this. Eventually I drowned it out. heh

I wonder if mistletoe did exist back then. If not, maybe something with a simliar signifgance that held the same tradition.

Very nice pic I must admit. The artwork is quite nice, and even though I doubt Ducky would look like that in her adult form, I guess I couldn't tell if it was Ducky or not if I saw the real deal one day. So I guess it works out.

This is a very nice pic that I will definately treasure seeing for quite some time. :^.^:

Yes, that's why I said that from the get-go when I posted the pic. I'm glad you understood what my vision was.

Who's to say what they'd look like when they're older? I'd say you did just fine.

(At first I thought Petrie was Pterano before I read the caption.)

Yes! I can understand why you would think that. I did model Petrie after Pterano. I figured that since they are both male that Petrie would eventually gain the head crest. All I did was make him taller, gave him the Pteranodon classic head crest and such. I figured that would be the most accurate idea of what he would look like.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! ^^

lol... did you guys notice Pterano comes from the word Pteranodon which is the species that Petrie and Pterano are. Very clever.

There are in fact not too many names in LBT which cannot be traced back to the species of the character. I didn't check, but I think in more cases the name is a reference to the Species than not.

Actually, a number of us have known this for quite a while. There is a thread where we try to figure out where the names of the charcters come from.

I beg your pardon, but you will find that I have written more about your pictures so far than you have written about anybody else's pictures posted here since you joined. In spite of the fact that a member explicitely asked for more reactions. No offense meant

Your picture looks nice. Light and Shadow effects in particular give an interesting touch to your picture. The small lights in the air around Ducky and Petrie, are they glowworms?
As for possible improvements, I think in Ducky's case the proportions are not quite those a grownup Ducky would probably have. Taking Pterano as a pattern for a grownup version of Petrie helped you to pick correct proportions there (at the expense of the fact that many people at first look might mistake Petrie for Pterano). In case of Ducky, pictures of her parents might provide a similar pattern. The shape and size of her head (in relation to the rest of her body) in particular would change. The projection on her occiput would probably not grow quite as long. One "problem" of taking the grownups as patterns is, that Petrie would end up considerably smaller than Ducky. He probably would have to fly to get her under the mistletoe
