I have just bought Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Platinum on my computer, and every time I've tried installing it, no matter what I do, it just won't work. Can someone help me?

What does it do when you try to boot it up ? Also, what are your computer's specs?

I have that game. It installed just fine for me. Maybe your computer doesn't have the right specs or something else is going on. Explain step by step exactly what you do and what error messages pop up.

Basically when I place it in, it goes to the autorun icon, but when I press play, it stops, it doesn't even load, also when I go into the cd-rom to try and get it to play, it uninstalls the original and then it gets about halfway into installing the expansion when it says "error". I then have to reinstall the whole game over, also, what are specs, I am not that good at computers? I have a toshiba laptop.

If you can, would you be able to post what the error says?

Holy crap.  That's a REALLY old game.  If you have a newer computer (Windows 7), it may be too old to play on such a new computer.  You can try installing in compatibility mode, but other than that you've got to understand that this game was supposed to be played on computers that I was working on when I was like 8 years old.  I can barely repair a computer of that age anymore.

Yeah. I have a game called ParaWorld that refuses to install on this computer, though it installed just fine on the XP computer. Try as I could, I never got ParaWorld to work on my Windows 7 machine. Hardware and software changes with each new system, which is why old games tend to eventually stop working. At least with Windows.

It might not work on Windows 7... However, Rollercoaster 1 and 2 work perfectly on my Windows 7 PC and those are even older. I know they're made by different companies, but still.

Also, Chomper, it may be an idea to go to your computer, open up the CD (don't autorun). Right click 'setup', go to compatibility mode and set it to Windows XP Version 3. Then open the setup file, hopefully you can install it that way.

Perhaps you could play the game in an emulator? VirtualBox worked for Jurrassic Park: Traveller, a similarly old game. It depends on what you're willing to set up.
