The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Nice drawing of Littlefoot you made there! You made look cute! I love it!
Thanks! :DD He's actually supposed to look a little sad/gloomy :p

Fair enough, I admit I would prefer to colour him in his actual colour but this is VERY hard to achieve with coloured pencils... I don't have any that has Littlefoot's colour and mixing colours with pencils is working poorly (trust me, I've tried :p). I hope you can still look at the artwork and like it (if not, just admire the lineart ^^spike)

It's a good drawing I liked it a lot.
Thanks :)

New drawing guys ^^

sketch:

coloured:

I'm sure you all recognise the scene ;) Ducky, Petrie and Spike are watching the fight between Cera and Littlefoot in horror.

I'm very happy with the drawing in fact. The lineart turned out better than I thought and the colouring (it took ages...) turned out great. The scanned pictures can be enhanced digitally very well, making the colours look even more vibrant :)

I also like how the rocks turned out. I kept them very simple but I think the impression of lighting kind of worked there... maybe I'll practise drawing rocks one day so I can give them even more detail ^^spike

The careful observer will probably notice two things that are slight... odd.
1.) for some odd reason, some other lineart is (weakly) visible in the background of the drawing
2.) Spike's colouring scheme is a bit different :p (this wasn't really intended either but I was testing a different shade of green on Spike (I liked the other one better tbh) and then realised that I didn't have any other (darker and fitting) shade of green to use for his spikes etc. (I usually used the green pencil I used for his body this time) so I had to improvise... I thought red looks pretty cool  :smile )

Fun fact: I coloured most of this while playing Civilisation 4  :DD One of the downsights of playing very big maps is turns taking ages to load... so coloured Spike inbetween my turns (which was admittedly a pretty boring thing to do :p) I might do this kind of thing too if I ever get into such a game of Civ again... I'm lazy colouring stuff anyway since doing the lineart is ten times more fun (and challenging)

I hope you like the drawing and stay tuned for moar!

Thanks! The colouring took very long since Spike is... huge in this drawing. I didn't want to rush things though :)

Well, it is indeed... we don't even see much of the actual fight in the movie, just bits and pieces.

EDIT:

Would anybody be interested in me posting sketches, failed drawings and WIPs (Work-in-progress)? I've accumulated quite a but of these sketches and drawings which simply didn't work out. If there is interest, I would post these in a separate art topic :)

Alright, after a few days of hard procrastination, I'll finally post this... I hope you'll be as surprised as I was when I saw the final result  :lol

lineart:

coloured:

So... surprised yet?  :wow

For some reason, I felt like trying out digital media for a change and this is the result ^^spike

The hardest part was the lineart since... well, drawing straight lines is almost impossible with a mouse/touchpad (I tried both). Luckily, I had a tool that sort of "auto-corrected" my lines... however, often not in the way that I intended to so, in the end, I had to try until it made the lines look like I wanted them  :rolleyes

I was a bit stupid because I actually tried painting this by hand until I eventually realised there's a tool that colours everything in 2 minutes  :bang Well, I shall remember it in case I do more digital recreations of my old works in the future  :p

Hope you like this :)

I have to be honest the digitally drawn Ducky looks rather crude....

Also sorry fir nit giving feed back on your last art. One reason I felt a bit put off from it as it's from one of my least favourite parts of the 1st movie.. When Littlefoot and Cera have that infamous scrap.

I thought it was made in MSPaint.

I agree, it's crude. But as I understand, it's your first work in e-lineart?

Thanks for your feedback guys, both positive and negative :)

It's okay to be honest sometimes even if the truth hurts. It was my first try at digital drawing, therefore the lineart is far from perfect. I'll admit that and try to do better next time, yep, yep, yep!

Just out of curiousity (or maybe I just don't remember you mentioning it before): Why is that scene so bad in your opinion? Just because Cera was being a bitch in that scene for calling out Littlefoot's mother like that? I could understand that line of reasoning certainly. Personally, I think it's quite a good scene. Pretty vicious fight, raw emotions and a big drama. It adds quite a bit to the later parts.

So anyway, I guess you only don't like the drawing because of the scene it is about? I'd be fine with that, yep, yep, yep.

Indeed, my first work using a computer program rather than good old pencils and paper :) I will try to do better next time.

Nice job I liked the colors you used
Thanks, glad you like them :) I think they turned out a bit too bright but it could be worse.

Nice one!
Thanks! ^^spike

I will do a twitch lifestream in approximately three hours, working on another digital recreation of old art.

Well I have said why I don't like it before in the past. Mind you that was a long time ago. And I don't think I really want to share why I don't like that scene here in public. Because in the past when I share my thoughts on something I don't like I tend to get funny looks from others. And things turn bitter.

But just because it's based on a scene I don't like doesn't mean I think it's a bad drawing . You drew it well

It's okay, I understand. Was just wondering if it's the drawing itself or just the fact that it's based off a scene that you don't like why you disliked the drawing. You've cleared that up now, thanks :)
