The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

So, I just got back from my trip to Minnesota with a flashdrive full of a roleplay I've been doing with the friend I was visiting.
She had it divided into parts on her mac as .textclipping files, probably forgetting that I had a Window's 7 computer (I didn't bring it with me on the trip).

I have tried to find something to convert the files or at least get them so I can read them.

Can anyone give me some advice or point me toward a solution?

Without downloading any programs, could you try to rightclick the file and 'Open with', then select notepad from your programs?

If that doesn't work, I've read that Abobe Authorware is able to open the files. You can download a free trial of that program here.

I've tried opening them on notepad, but it comes up blank. I guess I can try Authorware

Here's another program you can try.

http://www.freefileviewer.com/

It's capable of opening many file types, including PSD without Photoshop installed. This might be able to read .textClipping files. But it's an uncertainty.

My computer does not seem to like that particular download. My security system blocked it.

Also, I can't figure out how to open my files on Authorware

Ahh, too bad the Notepad idea doesn't work. Must be because they are split files. Perhaps opening them with winrar/winzip might do the trick? (unlikely, but worth a try)

I'm not sure how Authorware works. I've only read online that it could open the files. I think the easiest in your case is to ask your friend to convert the files herself so that you can open them on a windows computer and send them by email.

Yeah, we've discussed that. It's a last resort, though

I haven't found one program yet that can convert .textClipping. I could ask a friend of mine if he knows.
