As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I was on another forum this morning and in one of their threads they had a 9:15 minute silent movie made in San Francisco.  After someone did research he was able to figure out that it was shot 4 days before the 1906 earthquake.  I find it interesting since you can see what the early 20th century was like in a major city.   I thought some here may be interested in seeing it.

Wow.  I saw that same clip a few years ago in another forum that I frequent and I remember it being dated to around 1905 at that time.  With this new information it adds a whole new context to the entire scene.  It is kind of creepy realizing that many, if not most, of the buildings in that film were destroyed mere days after it was created.

Loved seeing this! I find it funny how rules of the road basically didn't exist in that time, but that's not really surprising, as cars were brand new in that era.

Someone, I forgot his name, did research.  I think he looked at weather records, and the license plate of a car, or maybe more then one, finding out it was registered early in 1906 and I guess some other stuff to determine the date.  I also read the film was moved a day or 2 before the earthquake hit or it would have been lost in the disaster that happened.
