The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

You Have A Laptop?

I have many laptops and I was wondering if anyone else here has one.  I actually have a use for them though.  I realize that most people have no use for them.  If you do have one why do you need it?

i don't mainly because they cost a lot more and i wouldn't need the portability of a laptop either.

I don't, but my brother recently bought one at a Computer Show in Allentown we went to a few weeks ago.

The laptop is my only computer and I do have a use for it (scratch most of my messages here since late 2004 if it wasn't for putting that laptop to hopefully good use). There's also a reason why I need a laptop rather than a desktop. I'm moving every month and it would be way too difficult to cary a desktop with me every time. Moreover I often have to take the laptop to the university to hold power point presentations and the like. No way to carry a desktop around in the university library etc.

I got one. I don't have any specific use for it, outside of me taking it with me to every place they'll it. If I have to use the computer for something while out and about, and I can't access my home one, my laptop will quickly find a new use.

Yep, worked great for college because I would return home every weekend to do work (too many party animals around me).  Plus it looks good when you connect them to hi-def TVs for picture slideshows and the like. :)

I got one last year, I'm tipping on it now. My PC was out-dated (bought it in 2000) so I was given the choice to buy a new one or a laptop. Since I was going to university I decided for the laptop.Funny enough my PC energy system went puff, so for manymonths now I only use my laptop. Funny enough I never brought it to college, haven't needed it there so far. Since I'm still living at home and communting to college it's not a big deal, but if I ever need to take it, it won't be a problem.

I have a laptop (in fact, I posting this on one), but I'm in the unusual camp of people that have no particular use for one.

I don't have one.
But I get one in my birthday.

I will mainly use it for graphics-design and for my artworks.  :D

I don't currently have one, but I've been debating on actually getting one sometime after I move out sometime next year. (Yeah, I have a huge future plan for myself.  I just hope things work out. :^.^:)

laptops are super cheap nowadays.  If you really need one, there's no reason for you not to have one.  They're not 20,000 anymore. Now, for $320, you can get a very basic laptop that'll allow you to do basic stuff on the road. :)

My laptop rarely leaves my house. I never take it with me to town and stuff. Too much risk with too little to gain. I have no reason to have one. I'd just as soon to take a desktop because I think they're more sturdy, and because of bad experiences I had with laptos once or twice....
