I just found this cool make your own jeopardy program.  I have already made an lbt jeopardy board.  It's so fun.  Perhaps we can do something with it in the party room.  Any ideas?

I'll keep this program in mind.  Might come in handy as a teaching resource.  If you'd like to try and run a jeopardy thing on LBT in the Party Room, go for it. :yes

If I may ask a stupid question, what IS a jeopardy board?

Jeopardy is a game show over here...been running for many many years now.  You answer questions for a certain dollar amount and the more the value, the harder the question.

Yeah.  I guess I could come up with questions about lbt and put my game on yousendit.  A completed game is only like 12k.  The program is about 6mb so I could just post the link to the download site cuz I don't want to burn up my bandwidth on yousendit.  I only have like 300mb more of free transfer rate thanks to the singing project.

So it is a kind of quiz?
If this is anything like the real Jeopardy, yep.  It's a simple question/answer game with point values assigned to each question.

Yeah.  This is exactly like jeopardy.  I'm just putting lbt questions in it.  Anyone want to help me write the questions?

I could help with LBT 1 but that's all unfortunately.  I'm liable to make incorrect answers on all the sequels.

To save time, don't make the game as large as the real thing...two rounds and all that.  One should be plenty or you'll be doing this for a long time.

Yeah.  I could do that.  I'll try to get some trivia questions but I'm not too good at this sort of thing.

I designed a "Jeopardy Board" graphic in Photoshop.  If we ever get a game started, we could use this to keep track of which questions are still left on the board.  I'm willing to update this board after each question.  It's basic but I think it looks good enough.
I can of course modify it for fewer (or more) categories and a second round if we really want.

I played with that "Make Your Own Jeopardy" program...it doesn't seem to be useful at all for setting up for a forum or Internet game (too easy to cheat, no logging in for the "game show host", etc).  I think if we want to make a Jeopardy game, we need to do it from scratch.  I'm willing to help out with it though, for sure! :wow

We could probably allow as many people as we want into a single game, but we need to designate somebody as the "game show host", who reads the question and looks up the answers.  Perhaps if whoever answers a question right becomes the "game show host" for the next question, everyone can participate.

Looks wonderful Action9000!  What will it look like when a question has already been answered?  Will the dollar value turn to black or did you put each dollar value on a different layer in Photoshop so you can easily delete it!

Yep, I can just erase the number and it will be a blank blue square.

Cool!  40 questions wouldn't be too difficult to come up with.  How many people should help with writing the questions?

so what?  there would be an answer key and each person would pass it on to the next?  It would have to be encrypted.

How many people should help with writing the questions?
The fewer people help write the questions, the less likely it is that a person will answer their own question.

It depends on how strict we want to set up the game.  If we want to simulate a real jeopardy game, probably only one or two people should make up the questions and these people should either be permanent "game show hosts" or not participate in the game after.

The other option is to Not write the questions beforehand.  We select somebody (probably you LBTlover, since you started the idea) as the game Show Host for the first question.  The first member to select a question gets to start.  The Game Show Host then makes up a question for that category and point value.  The questions will Not be pre-written.  Whoever gets the question right becomes the "game show host" for the next question and so on until the board is empty.  Then we declare a winner.

There is a little more possibility that the game won't be as balanced but it will be a Heck of a lot easier to set up!  I almost think this would be a better idea for a forum game, to allow for maximum participation.

if we make this too tricky, it will take the fun out of it for some.  I think we should make an answer key and post the link here but ya know, put it into an archive and put a password on it so if anyone tried to download it, they couldn't get it unless we gave them the password.
