The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Hey, wasn't sure if this was the right place to put this. But uh I'm writing this scene where one character has one of those "vinyl record scratch" moments. I want to write it out but in a way that's not reliant on modern slang.

So what terms could I use that are Land Before Time/pre-historic appropriate?

Maybe that sudden jerking/falling sensation you randomly feel when you're drifting off to sleep? Only thing I can think of that's sufficiently disruptive, albeit in a more specific circumstance.

I will note that the Ice Age movies use literal record-scratch sound effects at least 3 times, so there's precedent for the anacronism if you just wanna roll with it :P

Right, but Ice Age movies are overt comedy family films while Land Before Time is more adventure/slice of life family type movies. So pop culture stuff would be at home in the IA movies, but not so much in the LBT franchise.

Either way, thank you!
