"That dog sure is gluttonous isn't he?" Taiga asked. Wataru nodded. "It's a good thing he isn't a fangire."

Cynder managed five more peices, before she flopped down, her stomach bulging out a bit from all the food she had eaten. "Ugh."

"Ha, looks like the first round goes to the boys," Sparx said.

Cynder's form stiffened and she burped, a cloud of purple smoke coming from her mouth before a dark purple glow surrounded her. She leapt back at the plate of fish and gulped down several more, her fury state burning away all the fish he had eaten to maintain itself.

"Keep it up, Scooby," Spyro said. "She won't be able to use that trick for very long."

But the Fury state she was in allowed her to rapidly cut her deficit. in a minute she was able to consume 30 pieces of fish, an astounding two seconds per fish. in that minute she outate Scooby 30-15, she was now at 105 he was at 119. "7 minutes" Nick called out. Scooby switched to cod, fulfilling Stripetail's requirement of eating at least one of each.. He continued eating in his normal fashion.. but Cynder was now catching up. Scooby hit 140, she hit 130.. He hit 150, she hiit 140. the margin shrunk to under 10 pieces.. the purple light was starting to slowly fade.. once it did Scooby would extend his lead again.. and time was now starting to become a factor.. Scooby ate his 170th piece, Cynder was on piece #159.

Cynder had already eaten one of every piece of fish with her ravenous munching. The fury state might have caught her up a bit and it would leave her with a bit of room for food after it wore off, but that would be no help if Scooby didn't somehow get stuffed and slow his pace.

the clocked ticked down to 5 minutes. With 4:32 left Scooby ate his 200th piece, at the 4 minute mark the last of Cynder's fury faded, leaving her stomach empty, and leaving her around 12 pieces behind. at 3:26 Cynder ate her 200th piece, a feat which had you told her about even yesterday, she would have declared it impossible and smacked you upside the head with her wing for even sugggesting it... Scooby was now at 218, Cynder at 202. there were 3 minutes left, it was now home stretch time. "Dig Deep Cynder! Dig deep! Dixie called out. "you're doing great! Just keep it up for 3 more minutes..!"

"I knowf, I knowf!" Cynder said through a mouthful of fish. Though the fury had cleared her stomach, it also left her tired and shaky. She ignored her body and dug into the fish, but still wasn't doing much to catch up to Scooby.

"Has anyone seen those little dinosaurs anywhere?" Taiga asked, glancing around.

Scooby ate his 240th piece with just over 2 minutes left, he had eaten over 20 pieces over that minute. 'Ret's ry ror 25)" He muttered taking a long sip of water. That sip of water allowed Cynder to reach 230, she had nearly matched him piece for piece. The clock stood at 1:57, and the margin was 11 pieces, Scooby 241, Cynder 230.

Cynder lapped up just enough water to keep from getting parched before starting in on the home stretch, the urgency of the situation speeding her on.

"Well, I suppose not," Taiga chuckled. "I don't believe we've met. I'm Taiga Nobori."

Scooby reached 250 with 1:22 left. Cynder reached that mark 20 seconds later. Her last desperate kick was drawing her closer.. Scooby's lead was down to 6. With 37 seconds left, he ate his 261st piece, Cynder was on 253.

"I'm pleased to meet you," he said, bowing his head formally. "I suppose you were drawn here by the strange nature of this building?"

Wataru had explained a little bit of what he had learned of the cafe to Taiga. He had picked up the information mainly from listening to the conversations of the others.

Cynder couldn't think of any more ploys to speed herself up, her fury had been her best chance. Still she wouldn't resign herself to defeat just yet and she continued to gulp down the fish with determination.

Finally, after nearly 15 minutes of overeating that would horrify even a sumo wrestler, Scooby finally began to tire. He switched to the smelt again and began to eat them, two at a time. He reached 270 with 10 seconds left, Nick begabn to count down andCynder made her very last go at it, She began forcing 4-5 smelt in her mouth at the same ime. " 10-9 8 7, 6 , 5 .' Cynder reached 270 with 5 seconds left. the margin was 4. "4 3, 2 . Scooby reached 275, Cynder 272. 1. TIME!" Nick stopped as the buzzer rang. Both contestant leaned back in thier seats, and finished eating their last bites of fish, those fish would count since they had started eating them before the time ran out. Stripetail raised his hand. "Scooby wins! final score was 277 for Scooby to 273 for Cynder. Between the 2 of you, you ate 550 pieces of fish. Take an hour or so to recouperate.. both of you have more than earned. the Boys lead 1-0. "

Deimos clapped. Then he resumed stuffing fish, 2 at a time down his throat.

Rime was also eating fish. "Hey, Nick these are good!"

Strut, Dr. Kerzach, Mr. Bigmouth and Zachary were eating their pancakes.

Dr. Zanasiu was eating some of the fish as well. "Yeah, Rime's right; these are good."

"Hey, is the ammo where I left it yesterday?" Strut asked.

Scooby stumbled aslowly out of his seat, his stomach rumbling with every step. He had eaten 277 fish over 15 minutes, or more than 18 fish a minute. 'Arother rive reconds rand rhe rould rave raught rup.' he said to Spyro, rubbing his sore belly..

Dixie raced over to Cynder, and helped her out of her chair. "You did an OUTSTANDING job, Cynder!' She said, hugging her.
"Well I only order the best tastiest fish for my customers' Nick said.. with a grin.. He had never seen 2 creatures eat so much fish before..

"Nani, the targets are in the back. They're just simple pieces of debris." Strut replied. "Uh, you'll have to shoot with Rime or Zachary. I use a shotgun, not a rifle."

Rime and Zachary got up, grabbed their weapons and loaded their magazines. "Ready to go."

"Nick, do you have any vegetables left for the dinosaurs?" Wataru asked.

"I'll join you," Nago said, getting up and walking over to the group that planned to go target shooting.

Cynder sighed. She was rather stuffed, but not to the same point as Scooby. "You guys should enjoy your victory, while it lasts..."

"Thanks. We will," Spyro replied smugly.

'Well the fourth contest is a singing contest, which we should win, rather easily. I'm a good singer, I had to sing as part of my showboat performances.. We have to win the Shurlup challenge though first , otherwise we'll be down 2-0, and facing the very real possibility of being forced to pick up where we left off upstairs yesterday. " Dixie said, her mouth set in a firm line. "if we win the Shurlup contest, the contest is virtually certain to go the full five, because Scooby's not much of a singer. How about Spyro? Does he sing? ' She asked.
