The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I need a little help deciding.

Well, if you've been on today, I've changed my signature image around 5 times.  It's a lot of work to do so I don't want to do it again until I really get tired of whatever image I choose, however I am having difficulty deciding on which signature pic.  Which one do you think?

Choice 1:

And of course this one:

So, which one's best?  Sorry for the consecutive posts, but I can't post that many images in one post. :p

I think that one and two look a little stretched. But I can't decide between three and four...

One idea, maybe silly, is if it's not to hard, maybe switch your signature once in a while.

1 does look stretched.  I can't tell if 2 seems so or not.  Hard for me to choose between 2, 3, or 4.

Number 1, 2, and 3 all look a bit stretched, which is why I would go for number 4. On the other hand it would look quite nice to have an image including all of the characters as in case of picture 1. Perhaps there is a suitable image with all the characters?

My vote is for both 1 and 2. Malte brought up a good point. It should include all of the characters.

Well, I do have an idea.  I could make the images change every 3 seconds, however this will increase the amount of kb each member will have to load.  I'll try playing around with image compression to see if I can do this without increasing it's size.

Here it is.  The quality had to be quite low:

NOTE:  I suspect that users with slower computers will see the images out of sync.

Just watch your size...they're all borderline huge (or what I consider excessively large for something that's at the bottom of each post you make).  I always am telling anyone who asks me if its bigger than mine, its probably too big.  ;)

Of course, the text has to be bigger than the text in your sig picture because I have 6 different links in the image.  I'll warp the bottom piece so it's smaller, but as for width I don't see how I could get it any smaller.

This is how it is more compressed:

I suppose so it doesn't seem so warped I could cut off some of the bottom of it and stretch it out more.

It will be hard to do that unless you cover up part of the character.   It looks to me (not very knowledgeable in this area) that you only have the top and one side to use for text and links, so the character is not covered up.  I'll leave the size between you 2.

Well, there is a maximum signature length so I won't be able to add any more than 6 links to my signature.  Picture links anyways.  I won't need any more either.  I'm only currently using 5 of the 6 picture links so far.  The "My LBT Projects" link does not function because I haven't made the website yet.  It's a work in progress.

anyways, Here's what I meant by crop the bottom piece so there's less junk at the bottom.  See, you can no longer see the cliff so much because I cut it off:

That way, Littlefoot's body isn't warped and the sig pic is smaller.

Why not put the links at the bottom so Littlefoot is looking at them?  Then you could crop out all the mountains in the background and have a smaller picture that isn't warped.

Regardless, the links are going to stay the same size.  There's no way to modify them without it looking bad.  I just have to modify the large image at the bottom.  Also, I don't think I could produce a layout map with the links at the bottom.

Weather the links are at the bottom or top, they have to stay at 167X40px to avoid them getting warped.

I will attempt your suggestion, but I doubt I can make it work.

A smaller font isn't going to hurt.  If I can read it practically anyone can. :p

Well, I fixed it so that it's on the bottom, but it didn't do much in the way of size.
