The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Watched LBT 4 last night! YAY!
I remember seeing it once before, but that was ages ago! So I didn't remember a thing about it! Which was great, cause I couldn't really tell something should happen right?  :P:

Overall, this sequel is worth 9/10 in my opinion.

It was a great movie! Thing that lifted it up/down:

Positive:
Quite the good story
New character, Ali
Best villians I've seen so far, Dill n' Icky
Good songs (Dill n' Ickys made me laugh!)
Funny

Negatives: (if one can call it that)
The story was good, but rather... short and very straight to it.

And my personal views,
Great movie. Loved it.
But it did seem different from the other LBT's I've seen so far. More darker, violent, serious.
One really funny thing was Dill n' Icky!
I laughed so high about those two!  :lol
Knowing their english names, I was like, W00T!? when the swedish translation of Dill was... Siv. Just WHAT kind of translation is that!?
And Ali = Elly!
And worst, Archie = August!
But these character were great and all.
Another thing was that, appart from previous sequals, now all of a sudden, the dinosaurs just get to know: "Oh! We're dinosaurs, and we're aware of it!"
Hm, just something I noticed.

Voice actors were good. But in Swedish, Littlefoot sounded... to grown up compared to the other kids. When I switched back to english, he sounded.. "normal".
The songs in swedish were okay, and made sense when changing the audio to english. But "Who needs you" with Dill n' Icky in swedish... Well, I played it 5 times in a row!

Loved the movie, it was great! But I don't know yet if it will be taking over from my current favorite, nr.2.

I like the movie, just a few points the bug me.  The song who needs you is a funny song on it's own taken out of the movie but within the movie, like I said before, it feels like in the middle of a serious portion of the movie 2 of the actors decide to do a stand up comedy routine, then return to their serious parts in the movie.  Overall a good movie that I do enjoy watching.

Another is the way Ali can seemingly teleport or fast travel back to the great valley within just a few minutes, get Littlefoot's friends and then teleport or fast travel back.  I timed it and I think it took her 3 minutes to get there and about 6 to get back.  I guess all farwalker longnecks have that power.   That could have been easily fixed, have that the gang did go with Ali, but Ali and Littlefoot were scouting ahead while the others were resting, or while they were sleeping Ali snuck off to look around to be sure she could remember the way, the cave in happens, she goes back to the rest of the gang and the movie could happen as it did on screen, instead of having her teleport or fast travel back to the great valley and back in minutes.

Lbt 4 was the only movie of lbt which we had here in my children time. I have seen it soooo many times that I do not like to see it anymore. Maybe.. In some time.. With some friends.. I do not like to watch it alone..

I know I always loved it as a child, but that might also be because it was the only lbt movie we had. I really wanted to see it when I got my love for lbt back agian. Sadly enough I couldnt find it.. When I bought all movies from 1-10 I didn't want to watch 4. Only the other ones.. I still havent seen it since. ehh.. well.. lets say when I was 6/7.

I don't give marks, but LBT 4 is certainly on the list of the sequels I like a lot. In one respect it broke with the tradition of the LBT movies we had seen up to then. LBT 1 to 3 largely kept up the image of the Great Valley as the one inhabitable haven left in a dying world. LBT 4 broke with that tradition by introducing the migrating herd of Ali's (I was very surprised when for the first time I saw the spelling of her name as I would think of that name as an oriental male- rather than a female name). Nevertheless the movie maintained the slightly gloomy mood by referring to the changes that took place.
With regard to changes the movie comes with two somewhat contradicting messages. While the changes which turned the home of Ali's herd into the land of mists are clearly shown as bad Ali's famous statement:
"The land is changing... Maybe we'll all live together some day." seems to cast a more positive light on changes in general. However, one might also apply a very gloomy interpretation to that quote of Ali's, namely "Maybe we'll all live together some day [in the Great Valley because there will be no other place left for us to life]"
The movie came up with two background characters whom one might refer to as forgotten characters. Archie and Tickles both came in as a kind of "deus ex machina" but we never learned much about either of them. What was Archie doing in that cave (and what were Ichty and Dill doing there? It doesn't look like the best possible hunting ground). Both characters could be explored in more depth.
As for Ichty and Dill we have a pair of villains who dislike, but depend on each other. I suppose Ichty might somehow get along without Dill, but that's another topic. Though Ichty is more of the one giving orders his status is not as unquestioned as in case of Ozzy and Strut (where on the other hand there may have been at least some degree of affection for each other where there was none really in case of Ichty and Dill).
Spike's "talking" was staged well and effectively and is to be counted among the grand moments of LBT I suppose ;)

As for great scenes, it still sports the scenes of a certain grandeur which I think have become very rare in Grossvenor's movies. Scenes that is with a message accompanied by original movie's movie (e.g. goodbyescene from Archie). Roy Alan Smith had a fondness for total views of an impressive landscape accompanied by impressive music: (Great Valley view in LBT 2, Crater in LBT 3, Land of mists in LBT 4) which Charles Grossvenor apparently doesn't share though there have been some similar attempts.

Agrees! It's totally great in all languages, but I laugh hardest when in Swedish!

It is a funny song, but I like it better taken out of context of the movie, for the reasons I've said above.  It may be a song they sung from time to time before they appeared in the movie.

I must admit that song is one of my least favorite LBT songs. A matter of taste I suppose ;)

The last time I'd seen Ali was the TV episode, and since then I'd pretty much forgotten about all good aspects of her. But, this thread inspired me to see the 4th movie again, and I rememeber why I originally liked her character. (though she'll never completely redeem herself in my eyes).

The songs weren't as great in this movie compared to most of the others, I've always thought. Most movies have at least song I really love, but none of these seemed to stand out like some others do. Grandma's song went in one ear and out the other, Who needs you? felt like they put the movie on pause for a commercial break, and It Takes All Sorts, while definitely the best song in the movie, was mind-numbingly repetitive.

A plus side was the Old One. They did a great job of making her a dislikable character while still showing that she was a good leader who should be listened to. She gave up on her on cousin a little too quickly, though.

One last thing: Mr. Threehorn, or lack thereof. Where'd he go? Finally a character as stubborn and arrogant as he is, and they don't get to butt heads! You don't know how bummed I was when he didn't show up. He'd never missed a movie before, and I think hasn't since (probably leaned his lesson).

Maybe they forgot him or decided to only focus on Littlefoot's family and his friends and not other background characters.  It's doubtful he could have been in another part of the valley and missed the events since I doubt he'd just go wondering for fun in another part of the Great Valley.

Though it does remind me of a funny scene in the tv series between Threehorn and the Spiketail leader of Tippy's herd in The Forbidden Friendship episode.  Threehorn and The Old One, may have been a similar scene.  Likely not liking each other also.

I agree that Tops may have played an interesting role in LBT 4, but probably one that would have been too far off the main topic. Though he would never admit it I suppose that Tops respects and even likes Littlefoot's grandpa to some degree so he might be quite distraught at the news of his imminent death. I've been thinking about a land before time story in which Littlefoot's grandparents (both of them) are either sick and seem to be about to die or else have to leave the Great Valley for some dangerous journey.
What if in such a situation Littlefoot's grandpa would trust Cera's father to take care of Littlefoot (probably for the horror of both Littlefoot and Tops :lol)? I think it would be quite interesting.

I loooooove LBT 4! It's the most downright classic LBT in my opinion, since it was the first I reaally saw, and technically the only one I knew for a while. The only thing that bothers me is...no Mr. Threehorn, who I really like. Otherwise, LBT 4 is pure awesomeness!  :smile

This decision suited 4 quite well, although it also makes me realize that 3 did what 4 failed to do---focus on other BG characters. It's for this reason that I've finally decided that while 4 is an indefinite classic for me and comes close to being my favorite, and 2 comes fairly close as well, 3 is indeed my #1 favorite. I don't think we'll ever get anything that'll ecclipse it.

As a kid, I enjoyed it all the way up until the part where Grandpa gets sick. I didn't really even understad he was dying, I don't think and I really hated Grandma's song as a kid, but once Littlefoot and Ali set off, man, did it go back to awesomeness!

As soon as they set off I forgot abotu why they were even leaving. I wasn't a fa of the Grandpa getting sick sotryline but for someone like me who could forget why they were even on this adventure, it was a real awesome film!  ;) Ad I did ejoy the ending with him getting better.  ;)

Just saw it again!  :)

Funny, I thought it would all come gushing back to me, but there was a lot I didn't exactly seem to remember. Hmm, guess that's the way the mind works!
