The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I Hate Dells But I Still Buy Them

YES!!!  I'm gonna buy a couple of really good Dell computers because they have hardware that's 100% compatible with xp.  In fact, you can even have them install xp from the factory!  Of course, I'd still install xp lite edition, but it's still wonderful!  See?  Microsoft isn't giving up xp yet and neither is the rest of the world.  Vista is as good as dead.  Like 1% of computer users actually like it.

Vista has been out for so long and they still have crappy hardware support and it's still slow as heck on even the most advanced computers.  Service pack 1 was nothing but stupid anti-piracy programs that made all the illegal copies not work anymore.  That's all Microsoft is concerned about......keeping their investment safe. <_< SP1 also had all of the updates you should have gotten before so it was totally useless. :p

Really? Hm, interesting. I always see computer coming with Vista and I heard Microsoft was going to stop supporting XP this year, but looking it up now apparently you'll be able to buy copies of XP until 2009. So yeah, looks like XP is here to say for a while longer.

I still don't have problems with Vista, but yeah it's a CPU hogger. I don't see any reasons to downgrade back to XP though, so I'll be sticking with it. However, I'll give it a bit more time before permanently labeling it 'worse operating system ever' like so many people have labeled it so far.

Dell had bought so many licenses that's why they're still selling them.  If you're out of license keys you can't exactly sell XP since the OS always calls home.

Dell is not the only company that's starting to do this.  HP, Compaq, and Gateway have started as well, but you can only get XP on the lower end computers.  They're still fully capable of vista, but they have hardware that's 100% compatible with xp.  That's why they still sell computers with xp on them because 99% of people would prefer xp over vista.

Makes perfect business sense if it'll get that computer out of the warehouse. ;)
