Eh Sequel's really suck these days. I'm not gonna waste my money. All the movies that are out suck.
I think that's way too much of a generalization, Petrie85, plus it's prejudging something before you've even seen it, which I tend to not do. First off, there's plenty of sequels that I feel have done better than the originals, or at least were good in their own right. Most critics agree that Aliens was far superior to the original, and I agree with this assessment. Kung Fu Panda 2 (which was this year and would qualify as "these days") would be another example, and while I don't think it was quite as good of a story as the first one (but it came close), I felt it had far better characters, and for me, well written characters are sometimes just as good as the plot. The Lord of the Rings trilogy would be another example. Each movie I felt was pretty good in its own right, and though there were differences from the book, I felt Peter Jackson's approach was pretty good. Heck, even some of the LBT sequels, while not coming close to the original, wouldn't "suck" I'd say. Some do, but not all. So yeah, I think you just made a generalization, which I try to avoid. I think the majority of sequels and remakes suck this year (as you said), but I won't go so far as to generalize it.
Second, this isn't a sequel by any means (which of course you wouldn't know because you haven't seen it). If anything, it took elements from the fourth movie, and made a completely new story off of it. Did it borrow from the fourth movie? Most assuredly. Was it a complete copy? Not by any means. I think they were going for a revamp of the series here, and while I don't agree with critics that it should get an 80% or 8 out of 10, I felt it was still between a 7 and a 7.5.
As for me, I'm watching my computer monitor right now, because I'm at work.

Though I did watch "Mother", a Korean film last night, and that was pretty darn good. Better than my aforementioned film at least.

I'd give it an 8.5 or so.
