For the first one, a tadpole? It has feet, but swims, and breathes with gills.

For the second, a door frame? Or death?

Is there religious connotations? The first reminds me of the passage where God breathes life into clay to make Adam. The second reminds me of the red Xs that Moses' Hebrews painted on thier doors so that God wouldn't enter thier home and kill thier firstborn.
