Cayso looked at Longtail's parents and asked - "A trial? what is this all about?". he then felt a strange sensation in his heart - "Where is Greyclaw?" - The intruder was no where to be seen.

Dante shook his head.
"The trial will judge each of us. Technically, we overstepped our bounds by not letting the island disappear. If things go okay, we may be given at least the privilege to stay here as spirits. If not...I'm not going there."
He said, with a soft sadness and irritation in his voice...

Longtail's father gave a sad smile to Dante and Kai as he said, "Well actually since you two weren't supposed to be here, you will be given a second chance at life. It's the least we can do since you all at least tried to help make the island disappear."

Longtail shed a tear as he asked while still on the floor,
"W-what about...me?"

Soul just gave a sad, yet slightly amused smile as she said in response "You my son...will just have to see." She then chuckled lightly.

Longtail's father then turned to face Redclaw, Cayso Diamond and Gem.
"You all can be taken to the main land with the others, and once Longtail's trial is over Dante and Kai can join you as well."

Longtail looked to Dante and asked, "C-can you tell Pearl...when you see her...not to cry."

Arius said, stepping into view....
"You see, Dante and Kai both have been deemed dangerous by the guardians. They will have to stand trial..."
He said grimly...

Dante looked away.
"Let me take a guess. I'm a threat since I am part Hollow, right?"
He sighed, touching the mask on his face...

Kai looked away.
"It just isn't fair. The boy did nothing. It is my sin that has placed him here..."
The voice of the Sankakku said, an almost remorseful tone un it's voice...

Longtail's father looked back at Arius and stated, "You can't be serious! Dante and Kai weren't even supposed to be on this island, if my son had done what he'd had to do, Longtail would be the only one in this cave right now!"

Soul gave a small smile. "Is that you Sankakku? Its certainly been a long time...and do you sound...remorseful? That would be a first...especially for you!"

Longtail's father then asked, "Alright, we've wasted enough time....lets just start this trial so we can judge my son already."

Longtail couldn't help but laugh now as he said, "Wow...dad. It sounds like you don't have a lot of faith in me...although I'm not surprised either. You...were never around when I actually needed you."

Cayso sighed in disbelief, his father was gone... vanished, and his friends will have to face a trial because they did what they believed was the right thing to do. Nevertheless he looked at his friends and told them with a firm voice, and a smile of trust for them. - "Be strong my friends, I wish you'll have the speed and the will of the White Runner."

OOC: The White Runner is a legend in my fan-made story. Nobody knows who may be this dinosaur, if this dinosaur even exists; but it is known that if you ever see this mirage, it will be a good omen.

Longtails father nodded his head at Redclaw.
"Yes, I am. This may feel a bit weird, but trust me, you'll be safe." He once more spun in a circle, but this time a hole opened in the air, and on the other side of the hole was everyone else on the mainland.
"I'm sorry I'd get you there myself, but I have to stay here and oversee the trials." said Longtail's father with a final nod of his head.

Soul sighed.
"Are you three ready for your trials? I would hope so." said Soul with a soft and caring voice.

Longtail although now standing awkwardly on his one crushed leg, he sighed as well and just looked down at the floor of the cave as he nodded his head to show he was ready.

Dante looked at Soul for a moment, then turned to Arius.
"I...I suppose I'm ready...for whatever comes to pass..."
He said, his voice shaking...

Sankakku looked at Soul for a moment.
"I, too...am ready. And as to why I am remorseful, I suppose seeing Kai live his life has showed me that maybe it isn't everything to have power..."
He said, then looked down.
"I don't...want to have him suffer for my sins...And I don't want to see his friends hurt, either..."
He whispered, a tear falling down his snout...

Soul gave Sankakku a warm smile as she said, "Ya know, caring for others is sometimes the strongest form of power. I think that's why you've had such a big change of heart. And I for one am glad to see that you accept it so willingly."

Longtail's father cleared his throat.
"Redclaw, you and the others might want to leave sometime soon this hole to the mainland won't stay open for much longer."

"Ok," Redclaw replied. "Cayso, you and Pearl's parents better follow me now." Redclaw then jumped down.

On the other side, everyone was waiting for Longtail's dad to return. Just then, they saw Redclaw emerge from a huge hole! "Whoa!" Chomper and Rita went.

Vayne stared at the portal, his jaw gaping.
"H-How did that get there?"
He stammered, his eyes wide...

Sankakku looked up at Soul, and for the first time in a long while, let a true smile cross his face.
"Thank you Soul. I'll keep that in my heart and my mind...."
He said, then looked up at the ceiling of the cave.
"I am prepared now, I think, to face the punishment I rightly deserve..."
He whispered, with grim finality...

Dante looked as the others escaped through the portal.
"Good-bye...guys. See you around, I hope..."
He murmured, then looked at Arius again.
"Arius...If I don't make it through this, tell everyone I went bravely, okay?"
He asked his mentor, a single tear welling in his masked eye...

The belly draggers looked amazed. "Where's everyone else?" Chomper asked. Redclaw looked down. "Cayso's on his way, Longtail and Dante are on trial, and Kai...."

Pearl was surprised to see the rest of her friends just appear out of a hole like that, but her fears were becoming far worse when she heard what Redclaw had said. She started to cry and in a single act of pure sympathy she jumped through the portal that Redcalw had come through.

Sheila was astonished at the fact that Pearl had just deliberately jumped into the portal that could've taken her anywhere without thinking.

Soul smiled at Sankakku's resolve. She then said, "Don't worry, your fate will be a justified one. I personally won't let you go down without a fight."

Longtail at this point felt hurt that his parents were willing to do so much for his friends, but do so little to help him. He just continued to look at the ground in shame.

Longtail's father groaned as he saw Pearl come through the portal. "There's always one who isn't willing to just sit back and be blind to the truth. Soul, we have company...again!"

Dante turned to look at Longtail.
"Arius...If I can, I would ask you...to revoke my trial. In exchange, I want Longtail to be allowed to return to life. Will you do that for me?"
He asked as he saw Pearl's tears, and then looked back at his mentor...

"Dante...If I do that, you won't..."
Arius started, before Dante cut him off...

"What?! I can't come back?! I know that! But...If I can make Longtail's life come back...it doesn't matter. Look at me. What do I have that's worth coming back for? Not much. So please...do me that last favor..."
Dante said, his face set, though tears streamed down his cheeks...

Sankakku looked at Soul.
"Then...Thank you..."
He said, then looked at Pearl.
"But do me a favor...let Kai...live a normal life. I want him...to be able to be with...that girl he loves. Can you promise that even after I'm sealed away, you'll watch over him?"
He finally managed to say, his eyes softer than they had ever been...
