Pearl smiled as she set down next to the pond their group had found, however as she bent over to take a drink she felt herself sliding backwards across the ground. Despite the mild pain, she turned to face Longtail who had been the one to pull her so elegantly away from the water. She was about to yell at him, but the look on his face told her something wasn't right.

Longtail for his part didn't want to pull Pearl like that across the ground, but it was the fastest way as he said, "Everyone STOP! Don't drink the water!" He then stepped forward and sniffed around for a moment and then against his personal and better judgement he stuck his tail into the water for a moment, and once that moment passed he gave a startled yelp and jumped away from the edge and tried to cool his tail off by blowing on it.

"Ow! I don't know what's in that water...but it hurts!" he cried still trying to cool his tail off.

Pearl seeing Longtail in pain reached out and held his tail right above the burn and gave it a kiss. She then smiled and asked, "Does it hurt now?"

Longtail smiled and blushed at the same time and said in response, "Well...not anymore..." he then stood up and looked back at the pond again. "This is so strange...what would cause....this..." he then looked up and in the distance he could see a smoking mountain and it looked like it was close to blowing it's top.

Pearl followed Longtail's gaze, and she noticed it too, but sighed as she said, "Its okay, the nesting grounds are too far from it, even if it does blow, it won't make it all the way over here."

"It's not the firewater that's the problem. Sometimes, when those things go off, they make the sky cloudy for days or weeks. That and they make it hard to breathe."
Dante said, dropping off from a nearby rock, looking at the smoking mountain...

Just then a little flyer hatchling from a nerby sharptoohted flyer's herd, only with just two little sharpteeth to his name, landed and took an attempted quick sip of the water before he had to try and explain to these strangers around why he was trying to drink what might be their water...you could never tell.

He intended to just sip and rush off, but as his beak just tapped the water's edge he felt the heat and wheeled back. "Ah, that's not water!" he said, holding his beak. He looked up to the others, "What did you all do to it?" he asked with a pout, forgetting that a moment ago he was all but scared of them.

Racnar was taking a deep look to the volcano as it shows activity - "Dante is right, firewater is not the greatest problem..." - The kid took a breathe before continuing - "... I have heard of something more dangerous, like a wave of rocks that moves just like water, I was told those can kill everything even far from a smoking mountain."

OOC: Racnar was referring to pyroclastic flows.

Vayne said, looking at the water irately.

"Yeah...Those are really a nasty way to go. Ugh, makes me ill just thinking about it."
Dante added, shivering along his entire length...

Kai shook his head.
"Don't even start making me think about those sorts of things. Brr...gives me the creeps."
He commented, looking at the smoking mountain nervously...

"Well...then why are you all standing around looking at it?" Twiz asked, "come on, we'll just fly to where it isn't!" he flapped up into the air and prepared to do just this.

Meanwhile, Misty saw, even from where she was, the black smoke beginning to enter be visible. She paused in her tidying up and frowned, that didn't look good. She wondered suddenly where the others were.

Longtail scoffed at Twiz for a moment and said, "Oh please, this kind of thing can't be stopped...or maybe...it can!"

Pearl frowned as she said aloud: "I don't like that look in your eyes Longtail, don't do anything stupid!"

Longtail for his part then smiled and said, "Come on...it's me!"

Pearl however was too afraid of what might happen and gripped Longtail in a tight hug as she cried.
"No! I..I don't want to lose you again! P-please, don't do this!"

"But none of you have any idea what I'm going to do yet!" said Longtail with a sigh.

Pearl shook her head.
"I don't care, you're not leaving us again!"

Longtail closed his eyes and asked, "Can I at least tell you guys my plan?!"

Twiz frowned at all the ruckus atleast the other flyer was making. "What do you think he's gonna do?" the kid asked confused, "fly into the smoking mountains, no one's dumb enough to do that" he said with a small chuckle, "but yeah, Longtail, sir, go ahead and tell us your plan and I'll try to not interrupt...sorry" he apologized for the interrupting he'd already done.

As they pondered disaster, Twiz was suddenly struck with wondering where his dad was at the moment. Was he in any danger of this? It was an all but impossible question to answer, Twiz hadn't know where his dad was since his sharptoothed flyers herd had kicked him out, having had it with dealing with the weak flattooth, but still the kids normal worry turned really bad at the prospect of danger.

"I am interested to hear Longtail's plan." - Cayso said, but he began to worry since he also know that Longtail can be reckless.

"We will need a plan-B too, just in case..." - Racnar also commented - "... if things go wrong, we must warn the herds so they can move to a safer location."

"I have an idea for a b-plan," Rita said, although she doubted this could work. "We could go towards the Great valley as all the herds together and chase the leafeaters out," she suggested, but she thought that was a dumb idea.

Twiz's frown grew at Rita's idea, what type of sharpteeth had he bumped into he wondered if these were the kinds of crazy ideas they came up with...well warning other herds didn't sound crazy...

"Hey guys" Misty rushed up, "I think somethings up, there's alot of smoke and...oh you saw it" she broke off as she noticed the smoke was easier to see from here.

Rita could tell Twiz didn't like it, but maybe there was an off-chance someone liked her idea.

"Whatever we do, we have to do it fast," Tyra said, holding Kai's claw.

Longtail smiled at the backup plan.
"That's a good idea! Some of you should head back, while I tell you my plan. I know for a fact that smoking mountains that big, even before they blow, make really REALLY big sky water clouds. I was hoping to fly up to the top of the mountain and as the smoke comes up and out, spin it around and around and make all the sky water fall on the mountain, putting out the firewater."

He then frowned and said, "Well...it sounded easier in my head...although I don't think I can pull this off by myself anymore..."

Pearl eyes were almost as big as Spikes stomach, and she couldn't move...she wanted above all else at that moment to hit Longtail in the head for talking so stupidly but she couldn't move...she was just too stunned by his plan to do anything.

"Well, just to be safe, we might have to do both plans," Tyra said.

"Ok," Chomper nodded. "We'll go back to the herds and warn everybody, but I wonder if we can actually pull the GV part off, or if we're gonna skip that part."

Twiz had been frowning deeply, there was a personal reason he didn't like this pushing out the Great Valleyers plan.

"Y-ya can't...push out the flatteeth though..."he said hesitantly and with his beak almost grit in nervousness yet...everytime he thought of Kit and her own other cousin Petrie plus their friends...

Twiz had so little left of his dad's side of the family...and plus this was family they were talking about.

"They...they didn't do anything to you" Twiz flapped a bit higher incase he angered anyone, although those other flyers could still reach him if they wanted...

He was still frowning bothered though, and wholly convicted of his words, "they don't deserve to lose their home!". After saying this Twiz turned forward, not looking at anyone.

Misty wasn't sure what to say or think.

"Um...well Longtail...wouldn't your plan be kinda dangerous" she stated the obvious just to get to a different topic.

(ooc: not to shot down the idea, this is just Twiz freaking out
